Cardigans Vs Jumpers

I'd really welcome thoughts.

I've always had a massive preference for cardigans. Both neat little ones and chunky knits.

I like the flexibility of being able to go up and down a layer without ruffling hair & earrings.

Are they always going to be either preppy /twee or slouchy?

Often the cardigan is an afterthought - is that the point? Are jumpers better?

or is it jumpers for winter & cardigans in the summer?

I used to wear jumpers a lot in winter, got out of the habit during menopause... wanted something with buttons or a zip for quickly undoing or throwing off!Grin

Always liked a cardi at other times of year - they're necessary in the British climate with skirts and dresses, surely? I've been looking for a new one recently -going on holiday and want something to wear with a dress (seasalt sort of thing, not dressy) in the evenings but had a heck of a job finding one - local M&S didn't have any that I could see, John Lewis didn't have any, but another M&S had one in my size that'll do though it's not really quite what I was after.

I've worn it so much hex, that cost per wear is now £8, and it still looks as good as new.

Cardigans definitely.

button up or not. I like the flexibility.

Annoyingly my go to basic black cardigan from matalan is no longer available. And there’s only a button less one on offer. The point of a cardigan is surely the buttons!

Men’s cardigans tho always have buttons!

Jumpers all the way here. You might not think cardigans are grumpy, but I do!

BHRK · 21/07/2023 13:59

Frumpy even 🤣

Prefer jumpers cashmere when cold however ive noticed a trend from fashion mags and you tube fashion to wear cardigans as jumpers pop a vest underneath,so thats how i often wear mine.ive several cotton ones and it seems to work

I don’t own a single cardigan. I hate the way they look on me. I put jumpers on over dresses and skirts and they look nice

Redshoeblueshoe · 23/07/2023 22:00

I like both. £335 for a cardi blimey
