Best spf moisturiser

I've been looking at the Elemis marine cream and am tempted as it's on prime day deals for £61 but I recently bought they midnight superfood facial and I'm really not impressed.

I'd also would rather not spend that much to be fair.

I need something super moisturising with spf and ideally would like to spend £30 maximum

Any recommendations?

Ceravae day cream x

Are these premium beauty products even better than a pot of nivea for a fiver?!

I love the Elemis marine cream but you should always wear SPF separately. I wear their non spf version, and then apply spf

Quitelikeacatslife · 11/07/2023 08:13

I use dermalogica dynamic skin recovery spf50 and lovey day cream

The superfood stuff is not that good. I got the advent calendar at Christmas and the only thing I like is the marine cream.

I’m using the new Loreal revitalift vitamin C. £13 with advantage card in boots and I really like it, sinks in well and doesn’t leave me looking grey like other spfs.

Alway1insomethingstat · 11/07/2023 08:16

Heliocare.
it’s amazing been using it around 10 years everyday.
doesn’t make you break out or feel greasy.

dinoand · 11/07/2023 08:18

Sorry if I'm being a bit dim. If I buy a moisturising day cream and a stand-alone spf. What order do I apply them?

I do moisturiser and then suncream @dinoand

Moisturiser first, then spf. I use La Roche-Posay invisible fluid, spf 50. Don't be fooled by the little bottle, it lasts ages and Boots often have it on offer on their 3 for 2.

The marine cream is amazing if you can afford it, if not I use products from The Ordinary. They're great, you can send a picture of your face to them and they tell you exactly what products to try and in what order. I've definitely noticed a reduction in wrinkles and my skin feels soft 😀

LadyEloise1 · 11/07/2023 08:26

I use a Nivea moisturiser with SPF 50 in it.
I'm going to try the CeraVe moisturiser with SPF 50 in it next (just to compare).
It's cheaper than the Nivea one.

TattiePants · 11/07/2023 10:00

Moisturiser (and cleanser) are the two products that you really don’t need to spend a lot of money on. Brands like Cerave, Curel, La Roche Posay, Vichy are good and reasonably priced (often on offer in Boots). If you are going to use sun cream then it should be a stand alone and not included in your moisturiser. Good brands include LRP, Eucerin, Heliocare, Biore (from Superdrug), Garnier, again mostly available on the high street and often on offer. SPF should be the last step of your skincare.

Why should SPF be separate?

Pinktruffle · 11/07/2023 10:14

@wutheringkites the amount in moisturiser (and foundations) is not enough for sufficient protection/coverage.

TattiePants · 11/07/2023 10:24

@wutheringkites the amount of product you should use is the equivalent of 2 finger lengths and that’s for a stand alone SPF in order to get sufficient protection. If the SPF is diluted in a moisturiser or foundation, you wouldn’t use enough product to get sufficient protection.

JenniferBarkley · 11/07/2023 10:27

My skin has never been better using Nivea soft (the one in the white tub) and a La Roche Posay SPF on top.

My understanding is that it can be worth spending on serums and products with active ingredients, but not for a moisturiser.

Darkmodeison · 11/07/2023 10:31

I can't use SPF and moisturizer together as end up looking like an oil slick. The Ambre Solaire one for faces, SPF 50 is by far the least greasy I found and I've tried a lot. I just use that and foundation on afterwards

TattiePants · 11/07/2023 10:37

@Darkmodeison if you haven’t tried it already then Eucerin do an oil control SPF that’s very good on my oily skin.

Boots no.7 future renew. It's spf 40 and really nice.

Thanks all! Going to now spend my lunch hour looking at all of these suggestions

Nivea SPF50 anti shine is brilliant and less than a tenner. Managed to spend a week in the states and walk my dog every day and my face is paler than it was in January!

Came on here to suggest this one. I know the advice is for moisturiser with a separate SPF over but I find using this moisturiser with a separate SPF on just my nose (where I don't put moisturiser) followed by a decent amount of Estee Lauder Double Wear works fine for me.
