Which dress for date day in london? (Pics)

Hello!

I'm off on a date day with my lovely husband. We're going to a few bars followed by dinner in london. It's my first time out in a very long time after cancer and a lot of surgery and I really want to feel nice compared to the sack of potatoes I've been for the last 9 months.

I'm hoping the weather holds out but I'm completely stumped between these 2 outfits. I don't want to buy anything else and these two are really only what fits me as I've lost a lot of weight due to what's happened.

Which outfit please? I'm completely torn. And will the gold heels go with the blue dress if I wore that? I'm a bit out of touch with fashion at the moment. Grin I don't know if shirt dresses are a bit dated now? But I'm scared my norks will fall out of the blue one.

Thank you!

You look great in both, I guess it depends where you’re actually going.
But London is really big and generally very relaxed, you definitely need to have a pair of trainers in your bag!

greyhairnomore · 04/07/2023 17:07

Both look lovely , will you be ok walking round in high sandals ? I can't walk in heels 👠 😂

SallyWD · 04/07/2023 17:09

They both look great. The white one isn't to my taste so I much prefer the blue one. I also think the blue will be a lot more comfortable for a day out.

egowise · 04/07/2023 17:10

White! You look stunning!

WhereAreWeNow · 04/07/2023 17:11

Both look amazing on you OP. Personally I'd go for blue because I wouldn't be comfortable in heels and I think the blue would look good with flats. I would also be worried about spilling food/drink down a white dress but that's probably just me!

rbe78 · 04/07/2023 17:12

The white dress is gorgeous, where's it from?

(But to actually answer the question - I would wear the blue dress for a day in London.)

Blue dress 100 % and comfy shoes trainers ! Take a denim jacket or cardigan x

fairycupcakes · 04/07/2023 17:16

You look fabulous. I hope you are feeling well and on your way to full recovery ❤️ How lovely to have a date day with your husband! You look beautiful in both but I’m leaning more towards the blue midi if it’s day time into evening and midis are more on trend right now. Like a PP has mentioned heels might be a bit of a pain if you’re planning to do a lot of walking about in London? If not then yes I do think they go with the blue dress too. Have a lovely time whichever you choose xx

Oblomov23 · 04/07/2023 17:20

The white. Your figure is stunning.

desertcalippo · 04/07/2023 17:32

I prefer the white but both look lovely! You have a figure that would look good in a potato sack - gorgeous! Have a lovely time ☺️

HushHushDarling · 04/07/2023 17:44

Thank you SO much everyone.
So I've got more clarity on what we're doing. Day time we're having a picnic in Hyde park (weather dependant) and doing some walking about so I agree about the heels so I think I'll wear a blue dress.

For the evening we are going to sticks n sushi in Covent Garden, has anyone been there? We are staying over so maybe I could wear the white dress in the evening?

I have some wedges that I wore with it before hand I'll attach a pic. Maybe I could do this for dinner? We'll go back to the hotel to shower when freshen up. I used to be fine in heels all day but that was a little time ago when I was a picture of healthGrin

Thank you so much for the lovely comments. The chemotherapy and surgeries and everything that comes with it has really taken a hit on my appearance and this will be the first time in a very long time where I've been out and feeling somewhat normal.

How's the white dress with orange wedges, does this go? Maybe with an orange little bag in the eve? It's quite short at the front but long at the back so no worries about anyone seeing my rear end! I'm really so excited for this, DD is 2 and is having a sleepover at my parents too so a proper child free day / night and I couldn't be more excited!

That sounds like a good plan
Enjoy, you’ve been through a lot.

Littlemissprosecco · 04/07/2023 17:49

The orange shoes are great btw

AriettyClock22 · 04/07/2023 17:51

Orange and white look lovely! But I agree the blue is better suited for the daytime. Take both and get changed!

Enjoy yourself, you are beautiful and sound like a lovely person too.

I'm sorry you have been unwell. You have a stunning figure, but I'm sorry it was due to illness.

I like the structure of the top of the white one, but I'd worry that you'd sit on bird poo on a seat in hyde park or get it grubby on a tube seat. I'd also worry that its really very short at the front and any gust at the tube- going down the stairs or on the platform would show everything underneath!

I like the blue ones length, but is it a crop top and skirt or a dress?

AdoraBell · 04/07/2023 17:53

My favourite is the blue, but I think the white dress would be better for going to dinner after drinks.

Hope you have a lovely time.

It's from In The Style :)

It's OOS but it comes back, it did a few times when I ordered it!

There's also a couple on boohoo that are pretty much identical.

Yes that's a really good point. Thank you! I'm the blue is actually a skirt and crop top but I need to find a white lace bralet I think to go underneath.

I'll wear the blue for day time and white for dinner in the eve.

Thank you :)

Blue for picnic - I'd layer with a thin camisole for modesty panel to avoid worrying over boobs falling out or use really strong tape so you can relax and really comfy shoes to explore in so flats like sandals or flip flops

White is the head turner and definitely for evening date

catkitty · 04/07/2023 18:04

Where is the blue one from please?

caringcarer · 04/07/2023 18:13

They both look great but I'd go with the blue one for a daytime date but cream for evening date.

RausageSoul · 04/07/2023 18:29

You look cracking in both, I couldn't wear white as I am a grub magnet and would be filthy within the hour!

diddl · 04/07/2023 18:50

I don't really like the white but I think that it looks better with the wedges & more "evening" than the blue.

That said, I think that the blue would be fine for evening, so if you're not sure about the white-something casual for the day & the blue for the evening?

Comedycook · 04/07/2023 18:52

Definitely the white one

Backstreets · 04/07/2023 18:54

PuppyMcPupFace · 04/07/2023 13:27

If I had your figure I wouldn't bother wearing clothes

🤣
