I came here before xmas moaning and ranting about bra fitting in M&S, and the fact that my bra's don;t fit, yet M&S tell me to lose weight instead of measuring me properly.

and all that after I have lost (apparently) too much weight anyway since my (3rd) car accident, and am now in a sz6 jeans!!!!

anyhoo........

came for a rant, and got good advice (thanks to thos that did), and went today (finally!!!!) to john lewis.

what a refreshing experience. the lady was lovely.....measured me by looking and judging (slightly disconcerting, but still, she didn;t comment except by offering good advice about the bra I was wearing in a very nice way), and then went and got bras for me and helped me lots....and then when I had that slight bulge under my arms (which I hate and always comment on), she just said..."oh, for goodness sake, we all get that a little....tis part of being a sexy woman!".

what a difference to the M&S ladt who told me to go lose weight and tone up!!!.

I am now the proud owner of a fab new Triumph bra (not that sexy I admit, but god, how much sexier I feel!), altho £25 lighter.

I am most shocked tho by the difference the right sixe and bra makes to how I feel and look.......DH immediatly noticed ( and ), and I kept looking at myself cos of the way my clothes looked......BETTER!grin]

and........I felt taller and as tho my boobs were held better, and my chest too. sounds strange, but I am truly shocked by the difference.

BTW....I am now a 32C or 32D (depending on style), after years of thinking I am/was a 34C.
shocked is an understatement......

Aww, so it turns out the bed not so great a success... it seems little dude gets very scared if he wakes up in it

If nothing else though, it has made the bunk bed more appealing He asked to go back to it!!!

I didn't think to try puppydogstails - logic made me follow on from slugsnsnails to andpuppydogstails

Psychomum5 · 24/02/2008 23:16

for the scaredyness.....butfor the bunks being the appealing option finally!!!!

MIL got fitted in M&S they were crap with her, didn't bring her bras just told her her size and left her to it, they were wrong! that size didn't fit her in any style and I ended up fitting her ( I learned in mothercare kindof) and got her a great fit in a couple of styles.

Funny I got measured in M&S and she was great with me got me to try a few styles and advised on the fit of each.

totalmisfit · 25/02/2008 11:57

i'm going to have to go to John Lewis after reading htis thread. went to M&S the other week and the fitting i got was really half arsed. She said i was somewhere between a 32 and a 34 and somewhere between and A and B cup (how's that for precision) and that she couldn't help me any further as she was really busy with other customers

i was a bit upset as it was the first time i realised my boobs had shrunk that much, and also a bit confused about what size i was supposed to buy, but she made it clear she couldn't give a toss. nice.

systemsaddict · 25/02/2008 12:19

Misfit, I always assumed having children would make boobs grow (as well as sag), but no - I was rather disappointed when ds weaned and I got all my lovely well-fitted bras out and they were all TOO BIG! and then found out I was pg again before I could treat myself to new ones. Heigh ho.

Having said that, if you go to John Lewis or a lingerie specialist you may find your back size is smaller and cup size bigger than M&S told you. As someone else has also said M&S will often tell you a too-big back size and a too-small cup, so don't despair just yet! Also whatever size it says on the label, a fantastic bra will maximise your assets

Twinkie1 · 25/02/2008 12:21

I am a 36C in M&S apparently and a 34DD in John Lewis - my boobs loook a lot nicer when in a 34DD so I stick with that - agree M&S are shite at bra measuring - maybe we should email them on mass and get them to sort it out!

Psychomum5 · 25/02/2008 19:56

MIL popped in today, and I was discussing with her my new Bra trip.

she commented about how downhill M&S has gone in recent years with regards to fitting, and bra quality.

she wears the long line bra's, and has for years and years (well, since she had her DS1, {BIL}, who is now 44), and has never had issues until the last 2/3yrs.

the bra's no longer fit the same, and long-line bit rolls up when she sits down, and they have boned it in such a way that the bones go 'S shaped' instead of staying rigid, meaning the roll-up bit gets worse......

she is now a leaving customer, and is heading to JL, (with me, which sounds weird, but really not as she is {mostly} fab!).

she also tho said that Beales and Debenhams to triumph bra's, so I may get lucky there too.....

she also said what someone else here said.......if a bra fitter cannot tell just by eye and judgement rather than using the tape measure, then they are'nt properly trained!!!!

I know I have already posted, but I have to relay the experience I had in M&S..

I reckon the bra-fitter took about 45 mins with me helping me find bras to fit. I am kind of in between back sizes (34 too tight, 36 too loose), and I don't fill the cups very well, but she spent ages with me, adjusting bra after bra after bra until we found a few that fit well. A fantastic fitter.

Psychomum5 · 25/02/2008 20:07

am thrilled that you ahd a wonderful fitter......they are a dying breed it seems in M&S. certainly the ones I have had heva been dire, which is a shame, as M&S used to be the ones to go to for every fitting, and most certainly your very FIRST fitting!

tis a shame........

Ooo, inspired by this I went into the new Triumph shop in town. Got measured (same old 36A as usual) but the bras are GREAT! They all fit so well. I've only ever bought tthem in M+S before but now never again! OK so more expo but definitely worth it - even with my micro-norks.

Psychomum5 · 28/02/2008 14:09

woohoo.....DH has promised me £100 for many new bra's as a mothers day pressies plus belated xmas pressie as he had promised me new undies for xmas and the forgot......a kick up the bum gentle reminder last night helped him remember the promise.

only problem now is I all poorly and feeling like crap (have a queried kidney stone and am in pain), so won;t be going anywhere shopping till next week now!!!!

MarsLady · 28/02/2008 14:14

Should you wish to send that hole burning money on to me... I have seen a couple of bikinis that I quite like in Bravissimo. You know how I need to get away, not having left the country for....ooh...must be minutes now!

Psychomum5 · 28/02/2008 15:44

lol marsy, and please don;t be offended if I decline your 'lovely' offer.......am looking forward to spening it on ME

However, should I get permission for a london trip at some point for THE bra shopping experience, I will let you know and we could meet maybe??!!!(while you watch and beg to join in on spending DH's money)

mind you, with your lovely glowing tan and the model comments on you looks this week, you shouldn't need any money to spend to feel good......you should already be feeling FANTASTIC!!!!

OP posts:
MarsLady · 28/02/2008 15:47

I think we should definitely meet to spend your DH's slush fund money. We could make a day of it. Perhaps I'll persuade some sucker nice person to give me money and we can parade around in our bras together!

Psychomum5 · 28/02/2008 15:49

am planning a fund and trip as we 'speak'!

If you are planning on splashing out, Rigby and Peller do lovely bras and fantastic quality. Unlike everyone else I know with large norks, I didn't find Bravissimo much good (they tried to stick me in a 28 which was far too tight and hurt. R&P 30G and fabulous fit but nearly £70 per bra )

hifi · 28/02/2008 20:26

m + s measured me for years, 36c, went to see a lovely lady at oxford st jl, barbra or brenda, i think she may have been polish. i had a vest on so had to strip off totally, she measured me and i am a 36FFFFFFFFFFFFF, how did that happen?
came home tonight and dh has tried to help with washing and 2 white £30 bras are now grey. GREAT.

Psychomum5 · 28/02/2008 20:27

EffiePerine · 28/02/2008 20:28

I know, but they last for years and years (am still wearing some I got from there about 3 or 4 years ago) so I think of it as an investment

plus it was a Xmas present

Psychomum5 · 28/02/2008 20:29

yes.....and a mothers day pressie too....and an anything present just cos he loves me maybe
