Wedding dress woes- I need to lose an inch around my waist in 2 weeks

Wedding is at the end of this month.
Tried on my dress yesterday - I need to lose an inch - 1.5inch around my waist. I tried it 5-6 weeks ago at which point I needed to lose about 2-3 inches.

For context I am overweight (BMI around 35), have been eating 1200kcal a day since the start of Jan and lost in total about a stone. I have an underactive thyroid and have realised over time I need to stay under 1200kcal to lose weight, eat around 1500kcal to stay the same and if I eat more than that I gain weight. I work from home full time at a desk so don't move much. I also have a herniated disc in my spine so am limited in what I can do (no hoola hooping and the like).

Have bought some resistance bands and small weights today, will try and do gentle waist exercises.

I'm pretty desperate at this point and am also considering medication / non surgical lipo etc.

Can anyone recommend anything that delivers results very quickly, ideally in a targeted area? It's a temporary thing, I'm not looking to do this long term.

Altering the dress would be possible but it's very heavily beaded and has a complex construction and my (very capable, dress making) seamstress has said it would be possible to alter but a) difficult and b) visible on the dress so am keeping that as a very last resort.

Corset?

Housekeeperbatcocoa · 02/07/2023 17:41

I think good shape wear is your best option. Corsets arent really meant to be tightlaced/use for reduction.

PrimalLass · 02/07/2023 17:41

Egg diet - harsh but works

Whataretheodds · 02/07/2023 17:42

Make sure you keep eating lean protein and fresh vegetables.

Cut out sugar, caffeine, yeast, alcohol. Drink plenty of water. Destress daily.

Focus your efforts on core exercises you can do with your herniated disc - not sure what those would be.

Keep moving daily.

PrimalLass · 02/07/2023 17:43

You could do the Michael Mosely 800 cal thing for a few weeks. Even a week should lose an inch off your weight. It's basically low carb and low calorie - think eggs, chicken and veg. Pretty sure there will be threads on it in here.

Honestly I'd say get the dress altered if you can. Rather than making yourself miserable in the run up to your wedding by going on an extreme diet, or making yourself uncomfortable on the day wearing a corset.

ISeeTheLight · 02/07/2023 17:54

Thanks for suggestions so far.
Corset won't work as the back of the dress is fairly low (lower than where a corset would sit).
The diet suggestions so far sound good, am definitely looking into those!

Can you do intermittent fasting incorporating low/nocarbs. I do it and it's quite easy as after a couple of days you just don't feel the need to eat as much food. I usually have a coffee when I wake up (some people say no tea or coffee but I do it) then eat my lunch anytime from 12noon & usually have my dinner around 5.30/6pm. Snack on fruit if I need to. I tend not to eat after my finder and drink loads of water
Also try to do more moving around.

Exercising a specific area will 100% NOT reduce its size so that’s pointless. Your best bet in my opinion is cut carbs completely, drink plenty of water, cut sodium and do 800 calories max per day. If you can walk, walk 10,000-15’000 steps a day. You’ll lose a load of water weight which should get an inch or so off, if your bmi is too high you have a great chance of losing it as it’ll come off quicker. Good luck!

This. Don't risk being unwell, miserable or fainting.

exercising the core muscle group specifically will absolutely strengthen the core muscle group. Pilates-style exercises in particular will tighten the body's natural corset. How much difference can be made in 2 weeks I'm not sure.

Can you get a proper waspie? They sit below the bra and reduce the waist. Cadolle is French brand that I’ve used.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/07/2023 18:06

Drink a lot of water, avoid things like bread and pasta which cause bloating, stick to fish or chicken and vegetables for meals, snack on things like celery.

redfacebigdisgrace · 02/07/2023 18:08

Cut out bread and pasta. Lots of water. Walk plenty and do Pilates as much as you can! It’s amazing for stomachs and waists

Justdancinginthedark · 02/07/2023 18:09

Exante shakes

travailtotravel · 02/07/2023 18:10

Very low cal - 800 cals a day. Avoid bread, rice, pasta, spuds. Loads of veggies little meat and dairy. Plan everything that goes in your mouth. Lots of water. No alcohol, obvs.

Midnightpony · 02/07/2023 18:10

What about those wrap treatments that used to be in beauticians about 10 years ago - are they still a thing?

PurplePear7 · 02/07/2023 18:13

Get the dress altered. Eating 800 calories a day is surely a joke.

2gorgeousboys · 02/07/2023 18:33

I've lost an inch off my waist in the last week or so by doing intermittent fasting and exercise. I'm not calorie counting but have yoghurt and fruit as breakfast/lunch about 11am then chicken and salad about 2pm and healthy evening meal about 7pm. Doesnt feel like a diet.

I've also been doing 2 or 3 youtube quick exercise routines from Lucy Wyndham Reed in a morning including one that's specifically targeting visceral belly fat. Each one is between 9 or 5 minutes so easy to fit in.

I wasn't aiming to lose an inch in a week but am trying to tone up etc for holiday.

veryfluffyfluff · 02/07/2023 20:06

Full body Mud wrap

35965a · 02/07/2023 20:10

Slim Fast breakfast and lunch, protein and veg dinner plus a few saunas would do the trick. Lots of water, no bread/potato/rice.

LittleBearPad · 02/07/2023 20:11

veryfluffyfluff · 02/07/2023 20:06

Full body Mud wrap

Ooh they’re lovely and very relaxing.

TappingTed · 02/07/2023 20:18

Following a low carb diet for a few
weeks will do that easily. Doesn’t need to be the fast 800 but can just be higher fats and low carb and will still
work.

iloveburmese3 · 02/07/2023 20:20

Super healthy suggestion but... skip dinner a few night and week and you'll lose inches around your waist.

iloveburmese3 · 02/07/2023 20:21

*Unhealthy!! 🙄 sorry typo
