Do any of you have use an at home laser hair removal device?

I am very tempted but they are expensive! I am looking at this one:

Are any of the cheaper ones on Amazon as good?

Also I am hoping to get pregnant in the next few months so might be no point in starting. I am not sure I can keep it up when pregnant.

Hi, I have this one and I think it’s great. I have previously paid for medical grade laser on my bikini and underarms but wanted something I could use at home on my legs. Honestly, I’ve been too lazy to keep it up weekly for the first 3 months, but the difference in the first 6 weeks was really impressive.
i probably think this is actually what made me lazy. I’ve done it on and off and without making too much effort I would say that I’ve probably got a 60-70% reduction in leg hair since I got it in November and that’s with a very lazy approach to it.
I previously had bought a cheaper one which was very SLOW but the Braun one linked above it really quick at recharging between flashes and just glides over the skin.
So yes, a recommendation from me, having tried a cheaper machine, proper laser on other areas and also owning an epilator and an electric razor 🤣
basically - trust me
(the hairy monster)

I also have this one, and have been very impressed. I definitely didn't manage to stick to once per week, also out of laziness (it was more like once every 2-4 weeks), but my legs have gone from having lots of thick dark hair that sprouts almost immediately after shaving and requires shaving at least every two days in the summer, to having very fine, sparse hair, if any at all (large portions of my legs are completely hair-free). I think I've only actually used it about 5 or 6 times in total, so I'm expecting that when I get back on it (after the summer, as I think you're supposed to avoid using it on a tan) I should be able to pretty much get rid of it all, with the odd touch-up. Now I just shave my legs maybe once per week, to pick up any stragglers, but I'd probably be fine without too. My legs look so much nicer now without the irritation from constant shaving in bare-leg season, and it's nice to be able to go out without thinking about whether I've remembered to shave my legs that day.

Cloudylawn · 01/07/2023 04:59

Yep very similar here, amazing amazing! Very lazy about it too but that’s mainly because it’s reduced so much. Legs take days to grow anything now but I hardly use it and reckon it would be longer if I did it properly for several weeks like you’re supposed to. Not having so much success with underarms but in fairness only done it 3 or 4 times and that’s such an easy bit to shave anyway.

I've got Lumea and it has blasted my thigh beard to virtual oblivion. Literally life changing. My moustache is also down to one stubborn hair on each side, and my legs have odd random hairs every few inches. And that's from very lazy use from about May to September every year.

Pollyputthepeleton · 01/07/2023 12:41

Lumea changed my life and that’s not an exaggeration 😂

Notellinganyone · 01/07/2023 12:44

I have the Phillips Lumea which is expensive but you can now pay monthly with no interest and send it back if it doesn’t work for you. It’s been amazing on my legs and has made this summer a lot easier.

pontipinemum · 01/07/2023 16:00

Thank you all. I had a feeling that I would have to buy an expensive one. You get what you pay for and all that! I would love it to work on my under arms and bikini line

I also got a lumea last year and will agree that our has changed my life even withvery lazy use. I have even taken up swimming and wear skirts regularly. It's life changing if you have lots of dark hair

HappiDaze · 01/07/2023 16:15

Yes I have the Philips IPL lumea and it's brilliant

They're cheaper around Christmas and new year

Pollyputthepeleton · 01/07/2023 18:56

Look out for Black Friday sales etc as well

Marezydotes · 10/07/2023 18:07

Just resurrecting this thread to remind people that it's Prime Day(s) on the 11th and 12th on Amazon and that Lumea and similar devices often get discounted - I got mine for £299 on a Prime Day

megletthesecond · 10/07/2023 18:10

I have the cordless Lumea and tbh I should have just bought the regular corded one as it flashes so slowly on cordless mode.
It took around a year to work as I have very thick dark hair. Now I have weird smooth legs that fascinate me. I love being able to run in shorts all year round now.

Youmeandacupoftea · 10/07/2023 21:07

@Marezydotes ooh thank you for the heads up 👍 I’ve got a lumea on my wish list and I’m so over shaving everyday already!

Youmeandacupoftea · 10/07/2023 21:08

@megletthesecond haha! Love that 😂 that’s what I’m dreaming of x

mogtheexcellent · 10/07/2023 21:24

Thanks for the reminder. I've set up alerts on camelcamelcamel.

Nicetiesandwhatnot · 10/07/2023 21:28

@Marezydotes which lumia did you use please?

LancreWowhawk · 10/07/2023 21:33

I love my Lumea, but I agree with @megletthesecond - get the corded one. Mine is cordless, but I never use it that way because it's just way too slow unless it's plugged in.

Otherwise, I love it! If you wax, it'll save you tons despite the high initial cost. Mine has paid for itself multiple times over.

Misslizzie96 · 10/07/2023 21:36

I have a Philips lumea and find it great.

VintageThoughts · 10/07/2023 21:36

Do they work on light hair?

I'm fairly hairy but it's really fair?

Marezydotes · 11/07/2023 08:46

@Nicetiesandwhatnot Mines an older model (can be used with or without cord) but there's one on Amazon for £249 today so have a look!

Nicetiesandwhatnot · 11/07/2023 10:16

@Marezydotes thank you. How painful is it on the face ? It's advertised as painless so wanted to know your experience.

mogtheexcellent · 11/07/2023 10:29

have taken the plung and ordered a phillips lumea 8000 for only 299 on amazon prime deals.

Was really tempted by the smaller size of the Braun though (and its half price at Boots) so will now spend all day second guessing myself.Confused

Capitulatingpanda · 11/07/2023 10:34

Bought Lumea 10ish years ago and it did brilliant job. I think the newer ones are even easier to use.

dearJayne · 11/07/2023 11:12

I have the lumea prestige and it's the best thing ever.

Pain free and now 99% hair free. Best money ever.

pontipinemum · 11/07/2023 11:50

I've already spent a fortune today I bought a new ninja and decided to try a robot vac! So I think I will put this off, also I am hoping to get pregnant soon and from what I can find online I shouldn't use it when pregnant.

I didn't know about setting up camel alerts though so I will def do that next year when I hopefully get one! For now I have bought this which I am am actually very impressed with https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09Z6XG7MB?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
