It's caught my eye. Not at all my style, I'm told I scrub up OK but I'm generally very ordinarily dressed. Sometimes a short skirt.but pretty modest.

I have and evening wedding do to go to. Lots of people I know there, including one I aim to impress 😆

I'm 53, tall, slim, blonde, but not in the least bit glam. Not much bust. I'd probably wear it with flat sandals.

Am I going to look ridiculous?

Is the blue better?

OP, it is a glamorous dress and not what I would wear (I'm too short & curvy) but the model looks nice.

Still shocks me that people like you exist.

Twirls…I am a throw back 😄

Have a look at Skims “fits everybody long slip dress” £76. It looks really good IRL, simple but effective if you have the body to show off.

Bearpawk · 29/06/2023 11:29

I too thought lipsy was a 'teen' brand tbh, because I used to shop there when I was in my late teens. It makes me think if polyester/ chiffon and butterfly prints which isn't my thing.

Op I definitely wouldn't wear a dress like that with flats.

Comety · 29/06/2023 11:32

In my head flats brings it up to date. Young people don't wear heels anymore 😆

I think it's too much for an evening guest at a wedding tbh, full length wouldn't really be expected, and if I was going full length I'd make it more of a nice maxi dress. This is more prom type style. It's not very modern I guess.

Yeah they do, check out love island or any club.

I know a women relative in her mid 20's who went clubbing wearing a bodycom dress and heels said she felt very overdressed as the younger ones weren't wearing that sort of thing. I think they were mainly wearing chunky trainers or sandals.

VWFF · 29/06/2023 11:53

I think wedges are more in fashion but they wouldn't look right with the dress either.

That's 10 years ago. Heels are back for partying/events tho still not for normal daytime (thank God). I agree with a PP that wedges would also be a good choice.

If you are looking for a youthful, modern vibe then, I have to be honest - this dress is not the one. You will fall between two stools: the dressed-down more casual look versus the hyper-dressy but short look. The dress is also rather evening-y for a wedding, even one later in the day. However, if you don't care about that and just want to look amazing and confident for your target audience (!) then, if it suits you, go for it!

DataNotLore · 29/06/2023 12:37

Definitely wear flats.

It is a bit dated but.....

I'd wear docs with it (seriously) and put hair up in a spiky bun.

Go for a punk vibe

Why the hell not?

planthelpadvice · 29/06/2023 12:51

I think something shorter but still glamourous (if that's the look you want to go for) would be better - like this or this. I think both would work with silver flat sandals.

However, I always think floral is a bit more wedding-y and less likely to look like a bridesmaid so this or this could work too - but might feel a bit too twee/mumsy?

The wedding I attended the weekend just gone nearly every woman was wearing some sort of a heel.

A dress like that OP will look really odd with flats. What about a silver or gold wedge?

I can't think of any flats that would go with that dress. The colour is a bit winter-ish too. I wouldn't wear it. I'm in my late 20s.

Keepitonthelow · 29/06/2023 13:36

I agree with pp there that those shorter Lipsy dresses are lovely and more modern.

VWFF · 29/06/2023 13:55

@Lillyrosemay They are all lovely @Comety

beatingtheodds · 29/06/2023 14:04

I think it looks dated. School prom 2012 vibes.
