Which dress for a summer wedding?

Hi

Which dress would be your favourite for a summer wedding? And any ideas for colour shoes/bag?

Haven't been dressed up for a long time and recently lost 4 stone in weight so I'm feeling totally alien atm as to what style suits.

The second photo shows a close up of the front of the green dress.

3 - it shows off your figure and you could always get a pretty matching bralette if you wanted less cleavage (although I think it looks lovely as it is!)

NatashaDancing · 25/06/2023 11:35

The dark green by far.

The first one is awful. It's too short, too fussy, too tight and a dreary non- colour. The third is one of those dresses which frequently appear on here which manage the combination of simultaneously being too fussy with also being non- descipt.

AdaColeman · 25/06/2023 11:37

The pink floral says "Summer Wedding" loudest.

It fits you well, and is very pretty and flattering, and gives you plenty of options for possible accessories.
Number 1 is a bit bland and ordinary for a wedding, and doesn't flatter you, number 2 would be more suitable for a Christmas event than a summer wedding, and the fit isn't very good on you.

Watchinghurling · 25/06/2023 11:39

I think the first, light green one is the most flattering for your figure.

Watchinghurling · 25/06/2023 11:41

I think the pink one is very mumsy.

IrisBearded · 25/06/2023 11:44

I appreciate everyone's input, thank you. I like them all, so all comments good or bad welcome.

Here's a close up of dress one so you can gauge the colour better, it's a light mint I think, slightly too tight atm and needs a suitable bra.

The first one. It shows off your lovely legs. You can jazz it up with accessories. The green one has an odd top and the third is too booby for a wedding.

keyboardkat · 25/06/2023 11:50

Of the three, the emerald green jumps out as the nicest. It will suit your colouring, and I think with rose gold or pale pink accessories you will be stunning.

Would a very slim belt work with the green I wonder? It just looks to me as if the waist needs something like that, but maybe not, either way it is still a lovely dress.

Very well done on your weight loss journey, that is amazing and you look really great.

I still don't like it. It looks like the classic "lovely for the mother of the bride" (horror) dress which gets offered up on here . It's too short and too tight

If I saw 3 people at a wedding wearing those dresses the only one which would catch my attention is the dark green one.

Absolutely - it jumps out as the nicest.

mondaytosunday · 25/06/2023 12:02

I like the third as most flattering and it says 'summer' to me. The first looks too old fashioned. The second is interesting but wondering if the fabric is too hot? Also a bit too Grandma going to church vibes.

bananaboats · 25/06/2023 12:06

I think the 3rd one, the 1st is ok but I don't like the green one sorry op I think it frumpy.

I try to avoid using the word "frumpy" but if forced to use it the first and third dresses are pictorial definitions of it- particularly the third.

Hollyisalrightactuallysorry · 25/06/2023 12:26

Such mixed views! IME the pink floral one looks very dated and one that my lovely Nana might wear. Sorry!

The emerald one is more winter in colour and I don't like the neckline

My favourite is number 1 and I love the mint green colour!

EllaRaines · 25/06/2023 12:28

Green satin one. You look absolutely lovely in that.

The pale green with a ribbon bit in the middle cuts you off and looks matronly.

The pink floral one is hideous and would suit no one.

IrisBearded · 25/06/2023 12:34

I'm so confused 😆. Might go back and look at other options. I could save the emerald one for the Christmas party.

I'm going to send the floral dress back as it was the most expensive and I can get my money back.

Tbf t doesn't look too bad on the model- still not great. It also unfortunately and more importantly doesn't look like a dress which should cost £90.

Mango pink dress

IrishBearded
I'm so in awe of your "recently lost 4 stone"!! Congratulations!

I'll probably confuse the issue by saying I like the pink one with the flowers! I like the shape and it looks so elegant. If the design is too fussy do they do a plain fabric in it?

I think whatever you choose you really can't go wrong.

Larkslane · 25/06/2023 12:55

Number 3

perfect for a summer wedding, not dated- a classic look.
most of all it suits you.

You will look fabulous!

IrisBearded · 25/06/2023 12:59

The floral dress is definitely marmite.
I love it, apart from the boob situation, I would feel self conscious

I don't think the floral dress suits you. It's too tight. It looks OK on the model because it skims over her- it clings to you. It's a style which should skim over the body, regardless of size.

The green dress on the other hand does suit you because it's a style which is meant to follow body shape rather than skim over.

RaininSummer · 25/06/2023 13:27

Love number 3 on you.

PeonyPaws · 25/06/2023 14:19

I think number 3 looks best and not dated at all, I am 30 for reference. I find the first one quite sweet but more for a young bridesmaid. The second looks more suited to an older lady to me though I do like the colour.

I'm 27 and find it bonkers that people think it's dated!

I do think floral dresses have become very popular again in recent years so I guess it makes sense that there's a generation of people who see them as clothes for older people
