Sandals not open toed with support

I had planctar Facilitis some years ago so need a shoe that had a good solid base. Additionally I have an as yet undiagnosed issue with my toes (constant pins and needles) under investigation. And a wide foot.

Work has changed their dress policy and we are no longer permitted opentoed shoes or slip ons. Last summer I lived in fitflops and a pair of Tom's. However Tom's are now out due to the toes issues. And fitflops are out due to them being open toed

I do NOT get on With sketchers they agrivaye my PF within a day. I do not like trainers. I cant wear van like shoes as not supportive enough. My feet overheat very easily so I really do not want anything lace up that seems to make it worse.

Is this me on a lost course or does closed toed sandals with a back strap with good foot support that doesn't look like the shoes my grandma wore exist?

I am watching with interest.

Someone recommended Vionics - what do you think

Hallionflossie · 13/06/2023 17:13

Joseph Siebel website has a lot of closed toe sandals. I haven’t tried them myself so don’t know what the arch support is like but they get good reviews.

Quveas · 13/06/2023 17:14

I need ankle / foot support after surgery, plus have wider get and need some depth - and it's hard to find a range. But have a look at DB Shoes, Cosyfeet, and Sandpipers. They are my favourites. And if you see ranges you like, just run a search on ebay or similar, because if you're happy with last year's range you can pick up some glorious bargains! Boots that cost £120+ for example, I picked up for less than £50 in " last years colour ".

Enko · 13/06/2023 17:15

I have a pair its nice to habe a pretty shoe for occasional wear but I can't wear them 2 days in a row without my feet getting sore.

So for me they are not the answer.

I am considering Birkenstock Tokyo super grip but thats a lot of money for a pair of shoes I don't know if I will get on with. I have birkenstock I get on well with but they are many years trod in and I seem to recall them.being uncomfortable to begin with.

Joseph Siegel has some gorgeous sandals but I can only find 1 pair with closed toes that are not wedges?

Can’t post a link but look under shoes rather than sandals, they are very open shoes so might be what you’d like.

WhereAreWeNow · 13/06/2023 18:28

Fitflop used to do a closed toe style called Cova. You might be able to find it on Amazon, ebay Vinted etc.

TakeMe2Insanity · 13/06/2023 18:35

I came on to suggest the Birkenstock clog style which you’ve already found. They come in narrow or wide in terms of width.

flyhome · 13/06/2023 18:42

FitFlop make every style of shoe, not just sandals. If you know their sandals suit you, I would be very surprised if you couldn't be comfortable in all their shoes too.

Pooterlie · 13/06/2023 18:49

OP I really love those Birkenstock Tokyo clogs in white. I have had very bad plantar fasciitis and find Birkenstocks comfortable.

CatsOnTheChair · 13/06/2023 19:03

I was also going to say El Naturalista.
I have wide feet, and got on with some of these (not bought in the UK tho).

nozbottheblue · 13/06/2023 19:11

If you can't find anything suitable, you could let your employers know; they must make suitable adjustments as necessary to enable you to do your job.
I and several of my colleagues are allowed to wear trainers at work when it would normally be frowned on, because of plantar fasciitis.

That's a nice idea but employers are not being unreasonable they are using safeguarding it is me who wants a pair of comfortable shoes. I can wear trainers technically I don't as I find they aggravate my PF and they overheat my feet. However, If I wanted to I could.

I want a pair of sandals that makes my feet feel comfortable and cool that seems to be complex though :)

I am going through suggestions here and I am well aware Ive asked for something difficult but I am looking at a couple of shoe brands I didn't know of so it is successful for me :)

I dont much like the shoe style but technically I could. I am not looking for shoes though I am looking for sandals :)

Pikolinos do some really lightweight, cool leather shoes. Also, hotter do some shoes with heels, toes but open sides.

ZombieBeryl · 13/06/2023 21:30

I've got these and they're very comfy.

Ive got several pairs of these in different colours, the ones in their online store this season are not that attractive to me but others from previous seasons on ebay and other sites have nicer ones.

They are as light as a feather and with removable insoles to put your own orthotics in them
