What size would you say I am? And could I wear this dress for work?

I never feel my size matches up to my perception… weird. What size does this dress look like and also - as an aside - could I wear it for work?!

It would be absolutely fine for work at my work place. People wear anything from jeans and tee to smart designer dresses.

dudsville · 10/06/2023 19:23

The dress would be suitable at my work but we've got very loose guidance so people wear what they're happy with and the range is wide. Some of my colleagues would wear that dress. It looks great on you. I guessed 6 to 8 and i see that's what you're saying too. So yes i think you look your size and you look fab in that dress.

FastAndLast · 10/06/2023 19:24

Size 8, dress is fine for work.

WestHamAreMassive · 10/06/2023 19:25

Yes fine for work but why do you want us to guess your size

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 10/06/2023 19:28

Fine for work. It’s smart and not revealing. As to size, it depends where you shop. I tried a size 8 dress on the other day and it was like a tent on me and I am definitely not smaller than an 8 in anything. Vanity sizing is getting daft!

Oneearringlost · 10/06/2023 19:28

8 possibly 10?
I would wear it to work.
You look lovely!

WakeMeUpWhenGoodOmensIsBack · 10/06/2023 19:31

I think it's lovely, and very flattering. I'd totally wear it to my office job. Yes I might be a little bit more "dressed up" than most women in my office, but when someone says "new dress?" with a raised eyebrow, I say "yes, why should the clothes I love the most be saved for just a few days a year."

Saschka · 10/06/2023 19:32

Surely to find out your size, you look in the label in the back of your dress? Is this just a “look how thin I am” humblebragg?

Dress looks fine for most office jobs. Not a great choice for a refuse collector, or somebody who works in Asda (non-uniform).

You know your own work dress code, surely Hmm

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/06/2023 18:55

Not a work dress imo.

I'm not sure actually; I remember the receptionist at work saying about one of the directors "I always remember when she came for interview, she was wearing the most beautiful dress".

It was after she left for health issues but obviously she did get the director job.

OP looks like you're a size 8.

Stargazingpolarbear · 10/06/2023 20:05

no I’m not a policewoman or anything 🤣 I think they’d probably give me a uniform if so!

No, it’s not a humblebrag - I think I look more 12-14 but vanity sizing I guess 😬😬 and certainly in underwear I look more 12-14.

Badbudgeter · 10/06/2023 20:07

Definitely not a work dress. You look lovely in it though.

BCBird · 10/06/2023 20:09

Think it woukd be suitable for a wedding. Nice dress

Doggymummar · 10/06/2023 20:10

Size 4 I would wear it for work. But I WFH so it doesn't matter

HikerMum · 10/06/2023 20:13

I think 6-8 and could wear this for work esp with a cardi and flats

LoobyDop · 10/06/2023 20:35

You are very, very slim. You must know that, and you must know that you have absolutely no grounds to be worried about your size- why are you asking? You shouldn’t need validation from strangers, and if you want to hear that you are very, very slim, frankly that is cause for concern.

wildflowerlove · 10/06/2023 20:38

Beautiful dress
I would say that you are size 6,8?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/06/2023 20:43

You look like a N American 4. Dress is lovely on you!

I'm a 14 and believe me, this is not what I look like from the side 😂😂 you're very obviously an 8 just from the smoothness of your shape!

Awrite · 10/06/2023 21:20

I think it's fine for work. I would wear it, it's lovely.

CherryYree · 10/06/2023 21:27

8-10

Denise82 · 10/06/2023 21:28

Your post is a little worrying op, you clearly look a size 8, which you are and nowhere near a size 14. Have you ever spoken to someone about possible body dismorphia or similar issues. If not, then maybe you should, as posting a photo and asking others to guess your size can invite all sorts of guesses and may not be very nice ones. Not something someone who struggles with how they see their body image should be seeing.
You look lovely in the dress, it might not be suitable for work as i dont know what your work is but it looks perfect for a summers day 🙂

Peterpiperpickedapeckof · 10/06/2023 21:35

You look very slim, OP.

I guessed size 8.

the dress is lovely.

SocksAndTheCity · 10/06/2023 21:36

Nobody 'looks like' dress size A, B or C - it depends on the persons height, build and how/where they carry their weight. My size 14 friend looks a smaller size than me (size 10) because she's seven inches taller with an athletic build and I'm short and curvy.

Do you really just want us to all go on about how very tiny you are? We haven't had one of those threads for a while, after all.

ThePoint678 · 10/06/2023 21:37

You look lovely in that dress.

The size is irrelevant and I don’t know why you’re even asking? It’s a strange question.

Whether it’s suitable for work depends on where you work and the dress code. Neither of which you are clarifying.

This all feels very pointless?

Hopingforagreatescape · 10/06/2023 21:37

Size 8? And it's a wedding guest/garden party dress, not a work dress.
