Anyone else loving the current 'fashion' at the moment?

Well the part I'm talking about, anyway!

Ladies fashion consisting of comfy, relaxed or loose fitting linen trousers, loose fitting shirt over a nice plain top, black Birkenstocks, classic and timeless styles

It all looks really effortless and well put together

Usually I'm feeling quite miffed at the awful fashions but really liking it, will be so bloody sad when it goes 'out of fashion' as it's how I like to dress Grin

Looks nice on other people but I have thunder thighs and a fat tummy so those trousers look awful on me. Will stick with floaty dresses!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/06/2023 18:08

my stumpy little legs and long body make me look like a corgi on its hindlegs

Brilliant image Grin

Yes!

Floaty and COMFORTABLE. Not having to stuff ourselves into the tightest of clothing whether you have period bloating or not. Loving it!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/06/2023 18:12

Definitely not Lagenlook (which I really dislike tbh).

For me, as a short, curvy 14, I like an open shirt over a more fitted top or dress. It means that I can give myself a bit of shape with the dress or vest top, but then cover boobs/arms a bit, just as I do in winter with a denim jacket. As somebody said down thread, there's slightly over-sized and totally over the top. The former works much better for me.

weebarra · 06/06/2023 18:13

This is funny! I saw the title of the thread and thought 'I'll ask the wise S&b people if you can wear this look when short and fat' and got the answer very quickly! (I know I can technically wear the look but I'd rather not look like a crumpled weeble)

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 06/06/2023 18:18

I love it but I am tall at 5’9, relatively slim at size 12 and have got long legs.

Currently wearing navy wide leg linen trousers from Cos with a white t-shirt from there too. I have bought a LOT of linen recently!

My sixty seven year old mum and her friends favour this look.

Yes and your point is?

LolaSmiles · 06/06/2023 18:31

I remember watching both those programmes. But agree it looks sloppy and I'm just waiting for the big wide belts to come back in fashion that people wore with linen trousers and skirts back in the 00s
I thought I saw those circle belts that were made popular by Sienna Miller and Kate Moss at festivals with the long skirts.

Digitalisaredangerous · 05/06/2023 20:59

I love it too!

@HotSince82 if your late sixties mum is looking like this, then she’s my style icon

keyboardkat · 06/06/2023 19:16

I've been wearing something similar (with no fancy L name I suppose!), for a number of years. The loose look works for me as I just cannot bear anything close fitting on me. I don't know why, probably self conscious even though I'm 5.5 and 65kg so not gross or anything (I think!). I just find the relaxed look is very forgiving on me, and I can go for a meal out and stuff myself without having to adjust my outer and under garments afterwads. 😂

Navy, taupe, white, cream and sage green are my mixes and matches. Relaxed linen fabric and trousers not quite as wide as sails either!

Whatever floats your boat and you feel good in works for you. And me.

SnapBang · 06/06/2023 19:19

Absolutely not for me 👎 it’s unflattering and uncomfortable in my opinion. I’d rather a simple summer dress any day!

Pigtailsandall · 06/06/2023 19:35

It's very much my style and I love all the natural loose fabrics. Loose clothing needs to be tailored well so it hangs right. It's not meant to swamp you.

All I remember of Trinny and Susannah (I was really young when they were a thing) is that they put everyone in wrap tops and cinched waists and really godawful prints.

And those awful sock boot things.

I'm short and I hate ironing- so this isn't a golden age of fashion for me
Grin that made me laugh

I don't look good in linen.
