BOBBI BROWN SKIN FOUNDATION - being *discontinued*- aargh!

Just that.

I've just had an email saying it's going to be discontinued. Why?

It gets rave reviews. I've used it for years and it's one of the only foundations that I can get the right shade in (Ivory), builds up nicely, and has no perfume.

Has anyone else had this notification?

Deciding whether to stock up or wait for the new replacement product.

@Vuurhoutjies sorry I meant the BB long wear one, is that the replacement for skin foundation or is it the tinted moisturiser? I don’t think a tinted moisturiser will cut it unfortunately!

@DearJamie yes - I think the Bobbi Brown one has been replaced with the tinted moisteriser. You can build up coverage which I quite like, but it's definitely NOT the same coverage as the original, especially if you just do one quick application.

I decided to use the Mac (Skin Fluid) one today to compare as I haven't used it for a while (the one I have is a half shade too light for me in the summer so I put it away but it's okay again now!). The Mac coverage is notably more than the BB tinted moisturiser that replaced the BB Skin Foundation.

They seem to be reducing the whole range down to bare bones- I went to a counter looking for eyeshadow a few weeks ago, and they only had about a dozen shades in the singles. Which is incredibly annoying because it’s by far the least wasteful way to buy them.

As a quick sidebar - I bought some foundation for DD for a dance recital from Revolution and the coverage was great without being heavy. I use their Define and Conceal concealer and really like it so have been toying with trying the foundation as well. I don't tend to buy high street foundations because I do prefer to have the option of getting someone to help me pick the colour and often I feel like the selection isn't good enough with the high street brands. But it might be worth looking at. Maybelline and L'Oreal also get good reviews on the high street side.

I am finding all of the counters are poor at the moment. They seem to stock the bare minimum. I was sent some Clarins lipstick samples which I liked - I went to 3 Clarins counters and not one had the actual lipstick. I'm not really sure what the point of them is if they don't stock the actual range.

I agree re the Mac foundation - good coverage, goes on well vs the new BB tinted stuff.

I’m also really pale and use the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin foundation in shade 2 neutral - it’s amazing! I had experimented with many different brands and foundations (including other CT offerings) before I tried this one. I really recommend it.

Thanks, I used a L’Oreal one a few years ago but found that after a few weeks it went a bit orange in the bottle.

@Tearsofamermaid good to know, thanks! I’m hoping I can find something quite quickly at the airport 😬
