What do people wear on a night out now?

Hi,

so I’m mid 30’s and going on a hen do next month but haven’t a clue what to wear for the “big night out” where we’ll be doing a bar crawl ending in a club.

I haven’t been out out in ages and have somewhat lost my style/confidence following quite a bit of weight gain after having my baby.

im a size 18/20, big boobs but short at 5.2

any ideas/suggestions would be amazing? My budget is high street prices.

thanks! Xx

Similar height to you & have boobs & a belly! Personally I would swerve the jumpsuits. I've bought a few in different styles and they've all ended up in the back of the wardrobe, I just don't think they flatter petite people above a size 10.

Sadly I haven't had any big nights out for a while but I'd wear cropped black/cream culottes with a brightly coloured top - either a satin/silk vest tucked in or a tie front blouse. Zara also do shirt dresses which are about £30 and incredibly flattering.

Anything goes where I live though so I'm sure you'll be grand whatever you choose!

Ok Liverpool = very dressed up IME

Faux leather trousers, a sheer crop top with long sleeves, and trainers.

That’s not what I wear on a night out because I’m in my 50s and would get cold in a crop top (I wear a maxi skirt with Docs and a woolly jumper). But I see lots of younger women in that kind of outfit.

I’m from Liverpool. We do have a reputation for being very OTT glam, but to be honest since lockdown you can get away with being a lot more casual.

Went on a hen last year mainly around Victoria Street (where most of the Gay bar/clubs are) and most people were in dresses/shorts with trainers. Some people in dresses and heels. Matthew Street would be a similar vibe. Concert Square would probably be more glam.

Wear whatever you feel best in and you won’t look out of place, promise.

You're going to have a brilliant time - Liverpool is the best night out!

Black Pleather jeans/trousers, a vibrant shirt (think - pinks, lime green, orange, animal print) open toe heels. Big hair and make up.

Have a great time! X

Please don't wear pleather. Its really nice weather here in Liverpool at the moment. That, coupled with ending up in a nightclub would make for a sweaty, uncomfortable night

Sisisimone · 02/06/2023 17:05

I’d normally go for a dress but haven’t seen many in a style I like, all seem tiny with cut pit bits or super casual or too old

What style of dress do you like?

Knotted1 · 02/06/2023 17:09

I wouldn’t wear pleather in summer you will boil! I would go for a jumpsuit and trainers or a boyfriend jeans/blazer/nice top combo with heels or trainers. Generally I find people are more casual on nights out these days even in Liverpool. My friends make more of a real effort with the hair and makeup then their outfits.

Wide leg trousers, the tiniest crop top and suit jackets here. Sometimes not the suit jacket.

as little as possible based on what i've seen heading out on the town as i'm on my way home to bed

This, a mahogany fake tan, fake eyelashes, big lips, big eyebrows, fake nails etc.

Seriously I think anything goes but the above was the predominant look the last time I went out regardless of shape or size.
