Looking for recommendations please for lash serums. I've had mixed reviews on lash uk. Thank you x

Don't they damage your eyes and promote fat loss around the socket making you look older? I would avoid op.

Latisse.
It's pricey but confirm it works. I get the Lumigan from a prescribing friend on private prescriptions but the version marketed for eyelash growth is called Latisse.

It's an eye drop for glaucoma. Active ingredient is Bimatoprost. Obv you don't put it directly into your eye, just a tiny bit using a little brush on the top lash line.

I'm constantly asked if my lashes are real. I had very short and thin lashes before I started using. I'll upload a pic.

I have tried this and it made NO difference, friends have used and BOY, a MASSIVE difference. Do natural brunettes get better results? Those with thicker hair, generally?

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 13:28

No not at all. I've been using for 2 years :).

You literally only put it on the top lash line, on the eyelid side with a tiny brush on the lash root.

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 13:32

@Peverellshire when you start using it you have to keep going, your eyelashes need to go through a complete growth cycle which can take up to 4 weeks, so it can feel like you're not getting anywhere then one day - long lashes!! :)

Then once you have got maximum length then use twice a week as maintenance.

Think Latisse costs about £110 for 3 months treatment but Lumigan on private prescription is much cheaper.

My other friend who doesn't have someone who can prescribe gets hers from a Nurse Practitioner that offers Botox. She doesn't have the Botox, just buys the Lumigan directly in vials.

Peverellshire · 13/05/2023 13:34

@cannaecookrisotto I tried for a few months, and zip. Does it make a diff if you use the same applicator twice as I did do this!? Prob not. It simply didn't work. At all. My Mum, and bingo, in a week, fab lashes touching her glasses!

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 13:34

Also, I do have thick hair but my natural colour is more strawberry blonde.

My lashes before were like little thin things. Proper crap. You just have to keep going with it and be consistent. I apply mine before I get into bed (after I've moisturised) so I don't rub it off accidentally.

Peverellshire · 13/05/2023 13:34

Trinny was saying she ditched extensions and rubbed (?) a cream in (?) Anyone know what that was?

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 13:35

I do use the same applicator every couple of days, make sure your putting enough on. Enough so you can feel a bit of a damp breeze on eyelid but not enough to go in your actual eye.

No idea, I tried many serums before I tried this and none of them did anything except condition them a little bit.

Right, thanks, will try again more diligently, does it work if you have lash extensions? From what you say, you'd be surprised if it didn't work. Do you have to avoid eye cream?

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 13:43

I would say avoid with lash extensions as the drops need to get right down to the root.

I moisturise my face before getting in bed but just avoid rubbing the cream directly into the lash line so the Lumigan is going directly onto the skin, without any barriers of cream in the way.

You can still moisturise your eyelids, just avoid the lash line itself :)

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 13:48

If the glue from lash extensions isn't right down to the lash base then it could be fine. I've just never used with extensions so can't say for sure if it would work or not.

As long as the stuff can get directly to the line and soak in it should work. Just keep going and going. Take a before pic and a weekly picture for the first couple of months

I keep mine in my bedside drawer with my night cream so it's incorporated into my routine and I don't forget.

Apply all the way to the corner (where your nose is) and you'll get growth there too. It makes such a difference to how thick they look when they run all the way across.

I only wear mascara when I'm going somewhere fancy, otherwise a decent lash tint once a month saves me loads of time getting ready!

Nyancat · 13/05/2023 13:51

I had brilliant results with revitalash, need to buy some more and give it another go.

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 13:55

I think Revitalash is Latisse but with lower strength Bimatoprost so it's available over the counter, so it's probably good too, might just take a bit longer to get results but expect its less costly which is a bonus :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/05/2023 13:57

I've used Revitalash , it's one of the originals and was devised by an American Opthalmologist for his wife who lost her lashes and brows through cancer .

I tried UKLash as it was 50% less but it made no difference and after a short while it smelled bad so I wasn't putting that near my eyes . I'm very much a 3 months and it's in the bin for mascara .

I didn't notice any fat loss .
When I used it as directed it did make a huge difference to my eyelashes but you need to keep on.

I do use the Revitabrow , not bought any for a while but it made a huge difference . Obviously no issues to orbital fat loss as nowhere near my actual eyes

My takeaway is that you think it SHOULD work for everyone and I need to crack on and try again?

cannaecookrisotto · 13/05/2023 14:02

@Peverellshire
Yes, I believe that it should work for everyone and you should crack on.

Right on the lash line, so it's on the skin and lash meeting the eyelid and do it without fail every night before bed. Do more than one brush dip for each eye too.

Wintry57 · 13/05/2023 14:09

I got revitalash in something and after about 4 weeks, very noticeable difference

YouDoYouHun · 13/05/2023 14:27

Latisse isn't readily available in the UK and is prescription only which says it all really. It really shouldnt be used for vanity purposes. One of the side effects too is if you have blue/green eyes it can change the colour pigment in your eyes to brown.

I used lilash for many years and it was great, a lot better than revitalash. Recently swopped to uklash due to price difference and I wouldn't say it was as good, but better than nothing at all. I always buy either direct from uklash or from beauty bay.

Yep, it can change your eye colour if you put the drops directly into your eyes. It was originally licensed for glaucoma which is where pigmentation side effect occurs.

I have a Pharmacy degree (but work in regulation so not a practicing pharmacist), but still happy to use for vanity reasons if used as directed for lash growth :).

How does one get a private prescription?

NYK1 currently works for me.
