Do these adidas gazelles suit me?

I'm wondering if the tongue on the adidas gazelles is a bit too long for me. I'm 5 for 3 inches. It seems like it's weirdly long. Or is it just me?

Also how have people fared with the suede fabric?

Adidas Gazelles are mens trainers.

Yes, OP! Gazelles are for men only, stick to the pink glittery section you silly girl!

I cannot roll my eyes hard enough at this stupid comment 🙄

Well yes, women can wear mens trainers. They’re a different shape though (narrower heel and wider toes) because men as a rule have different shaped feet to women.

You also need to size down by 1.5 sizes. Eg a size 8.5 in womens trainers are a size 7 in UK mens.

@Dermadirj Really like your loafers, where are they from?

grumpycow1 · 04/05/2023 22:57

The jeans are too skinny so make the trainers look odd, plus the tongue being white makes it stand out. Could try some adidas shoes where the colour is uniform across the tongue/shoe? And maybe try some jeans that aren’t drainpipes.

I got some recently and was also unsure (because of the tongue!), but I decided to keep them. They look better if you thread the laces completely.

This is a much better trouser shape

FannyFifer · 04/05/2023 23:04

I love my Gazelles, have a variety of colours. I think they look great with pretty much anything. I wear with skinny jeans, dresses, skirts, not any actual sports gear like leggings though.

CherriForever · 04/05/2023 23:05

My 16 year old has a pair of these and he noticed a perforation lower down on the tongue - he cut the longer top part off. Left with a more normal sized one.

Toomuchstuffwillkillme · 04/05/2023 23:10

@SmileyClare I know US sizes might be different for men and women, but UK sizes are definitely unisex misses point of thread somewhat

I'd be more worried about the width. These trainers come up so narrow. As they are suede I'm sure they'd stretch. The tongue looks fine tbh

I'm surprised to read this. I have horrendously wide feet and have these exact Gazelles - they fit me really nicely!

Also yes I like them without socks with the jeans. Definitely look better laced all the way up.

Oh, mine have faired well, but I do have a split in a seam. As I said though I have very wide feet which hasn't helped with that, and they are about five years old.

Dermadirj · 05/05/2023 08:09

Ok so I've ordered a few different trousers styles from asos so I'll try them on again with those when they arrive.

To the pp who asked about my loafers - they're the mingle wide foot style from asos for £20 in tan :)

I had a pair of these a few years ago (although I think mine were Campus) and couldn't get past the long tongue either, I ended up never wearing them and think they eventually went on Vinted. If you're not sure, you just won't wear them.

Dermadirj · 15/05/2023 12:18

Finally found some non skinny jeans that I think I'll keep, and here they are with Adidas superstars. I prefer the fit much more than the gazelles and the tongue us a nice normal size.

Love those 👍

Glad you found something less tongue-y!
