To an Italian wedding. It’s lovely, perfect for weekend drinks etc. For work? that’ll depend on the culture.

Littleworkaholic · 29/04/2023 22:55

id wear that to work but I’m tall

meatballsoup · 29/04/2023 22:58

Wedding, funeral, date, brunch. It depends how you style your hair and what shoes you pair it with too.

NatashaDancing · 29/04/2023 23:52

You could wear it to a cocktail party ! (See recent thread on that subject)

You could wear it to go out to dinner in a city on any warm summer evening, either in the UK or abroad. It'd be great on holiday in Paris, Rome, Barcelona, really any city break holiday

It's a beautiful dress.

Funeral

Funeral

No. It's a beautiful dress but not for a funeral unless you are the chief mourner. It's too "look at me" for a funeral.

It's a going out dress- dinner, drinks, brunch, city break, ballet or opera at Covent Garden, opening of an exhibition art gallery, book launch party,

Barbarbarf · 30/04/2023 00:25

You could wear it to anything depending on how you style it. Adidas gazelles and a tote with denim jacket for weekend wander, strappy heels and a clutch bag for evening do. Work. Everything in between.

It's really plain so I don't get the 'look at me' comment. Perhaps because it's on a tall thin attractive model with short hair. On most normal people it will just be a sleeveless frock.

Don't overthink it op. It's a nice dress and you can wear it however you want.

Blossomtoes · 30/04/2023 00:30

It’s a lovely dress and a perfect blank canvas you could style in lots of ways. It’s definitely fine for work - or at least would be in every job I’ve ever had.

Blossomtoes · 30/04/2023 00:33

Just fallen down a Cos rabbit hole. Wtf are they doing selling balaclavas in early summer?

creamcushion · 30/04/2023 00:43

I have this dress in green and have worn it to all sorts of places. I usually dress it down with trainers/denim or leather jacket. It's lovely! I have worn it to work (fairly informal workplace)

mewkins · 30/04/2023 00:49

I have a similar dress and wear it for work as well as out. It's very easy to wear.

TwoGrubbySlippers · 30/04/2023 00:49

You could wear it anywhere. It's lovely. But a black dress that's a blank canvas. I would wear it to work or out to dinner

Everley · 30/04/2023 03:53

Echoing other posters, it’s a definitely a
blank canvas that could be dressed up or down. I really like it!

midsomermurderess · 30/04/2023 06:06

It never takes long before the advice to team something with trainers and a denim jacket is rolled out. What’s the point of buying a simple, elegant dress like this just to reduce it to utter banality with trainers and a denim jacket. I think it looks very Italian. I find it hard to imagine that an Italian woman would do that to a dress like this. Why would you?

It would look awful with trainers and a denim jacket.

CorsicaDreaming · 30/04/2023 08:33

It's really interesting because if it was just a straight hem to just below the knee, you wouldn't think twice about wearing it for work, out to a meal, etc. Anythkng really, it would be really flexible. But the asymmetry makes it really stand out and be more unusual. Coupled with the very dramatic model.

I'd just wear it lots and pretend in your mind it's just a straight hem so you do not get hung up on that and end up leaving it in the wardrobe. It's fab. Wear it to work and play Comments Bingo - I bet loads of people will compliment you on it.

And I can imagine wearing it for lovely evening meals in a Mediterranean hotel. Just having a little dream here...

dudsville · 30/04/2023 08:38

I think you've just found the most flexible dress out there at there at the moment!

Millicentmargaretamandaholden · 30/04/2023 08:42

The funeral of a crime boss

That made me laugh out loud.

Um...yeah I think I agree with the pp who said it can be styled any way.

Agree - it's very versatile and actually won't date. I think you'll get years of wear out of it

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/04/2023 09:19

I’d wear that everywhere - just different shoes and accessories. I’d defo wear that to work, I have several very similar or I’d be snapping this one up!

notawittyname1954 · 30/04/2023 09:26

It's a lovely dress. Very elegant and versatile. As others have said it's all about the accessories whether it becomes more casual, functional or dressy. You could wear it practically anywhere.

LightlySearedontheRealityGrill · 30/04/2023 09:39

I would wear it with mary janes and a cropped cardigan to work.
