Plus size party dress - where should I be looking?

I've done John Lewis, Monsoon, Debenhams, Scarlett and Jo and Phase Eight.

I'm a size 24 with a huge stomach so can't wear anything body hugging - or with a waist!

It's for a work do - note quit black tie, but I need to look like I've made an effort!

Where should I look? Thanks :)

Just coming back to this - I think those dresses are very pretty, but I'd be worried that the necklines wouldn't do you justice. A lot of the other dresses which folks have suggested on this thread have lower square, sweetheart, or V-shaped necklines which I suspect would be better for you.

Have a look through the Ever Pretty website. Sizing is off so go by measurements they post if you did see anything suitable.

I'd give SeaSalt or Box2 a go. They both have all sorts of shapes and sizes and colours

Most of New looks range is now upto a 22 and I'd say their 22 is generous too. Some nice dresses on there.

Have you tried ASOS?

Made an account here just so I could post and recommend Marisota! They have a huge variety of dresses all in big sizes. I'm a 24-26 with a huge tummy specifically and I've got some crackers there 😊

Definitely Asos, order masses, and then send it back if you don't like it.

Check out tik tok for plus size party fashion size 24. I'm about the same size and theres lots of options out there.

Many many plus size dresses are very polyester and frumpy. And I say that as someone who's 59.

Does it have to be a dress? My favourite "smart" outfit right now is a pair of wide legged sequin trousers from M and S (elasticated waist AND pockets) - I bought black and dark green - with a silk camisole and an oversized black dinner jacket (it's from H and M but I like to think it looks a bit YSL le smoking. Yes I'm deluded. But I always feel much less frumpy in it - works with heeled or platform sandals just as well as a pait of Converse. What's your favourite style that you feel good in? Go with it and glam it up!

My stomach is so large, I can no longer wear tops that end at the waist or hips. I can only wear tunics or longline tops.

I'm not against wearing trousers, but if I'm wearing a tunic anyway, I feel I might as well wear a dress!

I looked at every dress on ASOS that was in my size, not a mini dress and not strapless, last night, and found nothing :(

I can't wear anything figure hugging, or with a waist. And I'd rather not be sleeveless if possible. Once you remove all those options, the selection is much smaller. And nothing that jumped out at me in it.

OK, to Marisota led me back to Monsoon, as I wanted to see if I could get this dress cheaper there.

But then I saw this velvet tea dress that's half price and which I must have missed last time. I've ordered it to try on.

I'm still looking though, as I have two events to go to (which I could wear the same dress to - different people at each - but it's nice to have something new, right?!)

I've looked at a zillion dresses, it feels like. I think I've worked out I don't want anything too revealing. No sleeveless dresses, no backless, no mini or short dresses.

I want something lovely, but that I feel comfortable in, not on show.

I'd like to try this on, but at £175 I'm not going to risk that I don't get round to sending it back. (I have a terrible track record on sending stuff back!)

I just can't wear the first or the last - I can't wear anything with a waist. Anything with a waist is out 😥

And I'm not after a mini dress.

This was so much easier when I was slim! Being size 24 and round sucks!
