Please rescue my hair!!!!

Hi all
My hair needs urgent help...
It's dry and just looks so dull.
It essentially looks (and feels) like hay!

Have had blood tests (thyroid, female hormones, iron, vit D etc. and all ok)

I take regular wellwoman and top up with calcium, vit D and extra iron (as prone to anaemia).

Feel like I need a decent shampoo and conditioner for starters... was using head and shoulders for ages due to itchy scalp but think it's contributed to the dull dry look. Hair naturally curly so think alot of it is chronic heat damage but still...it's never been this bad.

Now use the Aussie products which are normally great for me but...not really helping.

Willing to spend more than average on decent hair products if you have any recommendations for similar hair issues??

Thanks!

Palmer’s hair mask is amazing! The shampoo and conditioner are really good too.

Do you mind sharing your age OP?

Also I’ve been taking biotin and marine collagen and haven’t noticed any difference. This has been for 6 months now. I had a baby 2yrs ago, and my hair thinned, but surely it should be rectified now!! It’s so thin and breakable, the ends are horrible and I get a regular cut. It’s very flyaway too.

VerySneakySir · 25/04/2023 20:43

I love Aveeno shampoo and conditioner

Kerastase vote here. The resistence range. Shampoo, conditioner and if you can stretch too the over night serum and oil as well it’s a game changer

I agree with all this. My hair is long, bleached, dry and post menopausal. All pouffy and straw like if left to own devices. Kerastase is brilliant.

Phillip Kingsley elasticizer is the key.

I second this, it's so good I'm considering stopping the keratin treatments I have at the hairdressers.

trampoline123 · 25/04/2023 21:29

I really like kerastase and olaplex products.
Always use a heat protector and a nice serum. A decent weekly hair treatment.

Head and shoulders is really stripping so try and avoid, if you suffer from dandruff try a different brand.

I highly recommend the Bleach London Reincarnation mask, it’s done wonders for my hair.

This saved my crunchy bleached hair!

Op I have your saviour!

Now it's a bit better I use the garnier gentle scalp oat shampoo and deep conditioner. My scalp gets so dry, flaky and sore I've had to use prescribed steroids previously. With this shampoo and conditioner it's completely gone. The deep conditioner can be washed out in 1-3 minutes so won't take any longer than normal conditioner.

RudsyFarmer · 25/04/2023 21:34

I only condition my hair and really like the Aussie spray in/leave in conditioner. My hair drinks it up. Also some oil on my hands when im drying it.

MorrisZapp · 25/04/2023 21:40

Must admit I don't like Elasticizer on my frazzled, bleached hair. It's somehow too oily. Many oil based treatments require heavy shampooing to get back out again which defeats the purpose imo.

I do like Kerastase, you can get samples and bundles on ebay.

MorrisZapp · 25/04/2023 21:41

In fact you can get loads of high end haircare bundles on ebay, saves a big initial investment in products that might not suit.

I've been using a mixture of Kerastase and olaplex since the start of the hair and have had great results. Kerstase do a length repair shampoo that's lovely, a bottle has lasted me since January (I was my hair every other day but so switch between that and olaplex shampoo)

I sleep with olaplex no3 in once a week (although I believe once it's dried into your hair it isn't working anymore)

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 25/04/2023 21:52

My hair went horribly dry in my 40s, this leave in conditioner that was recommended by my hairdresser made a massive difference. Now in my 50s and it's way better!

Please rescue my hair!!!!
Rina66 · 25/04/2023 21:57

Agree with Kerastase, my hair is far silkier when I've used it. The black one with gold lid, Chronologiste. I do try cheaper alternatives but nothing is as good.
A proper blow dry helps too, it's a faff, but section your hair, blow dry each section properly, nozzle pointing down the hair shaft and then cool shot.

SuffolkUnicorn · 25/04/2023 21:59

Avoid olaplex

kerastase is good

Actually...thinking back, I used to use this! No idea why I stopped...thanks for the reminder

So much to consider...on one hand I'm willing to splash out on the high end suggestions...but then after reading some of the reviews online, I get put off!

Will have to be brave and go for it, I think

Kerastase, and K18 over olaplex.

How frequently are you washing your hair?

Sweetapplestrudel · 25/04/2023 22:02

Kerastase is definitely the front runner it seems....

Currently have had to reduce to twice/week due to the dry texture

@Sweetapplestrudel that's probably a good step...I went from daily to once a week. Best thing I ever did 🤣

👆this

I have tried everything and this is THE ONE

littleripper · 25/04/2023 22:06

Leave it on for an hour or 2 thou!

Stressyfab · 25/04/2023 22:30

somehow missed half my message off before!
I use kerastese shampoo- the mint coloured one, I think it’s called reinforcement.
redken mega soft conditioner has been a life saver for me and I’m a bit fan of olaplex 6. (The rest do nothing for me)
