I'm getting my eyebrows microbladed this week

Workyticket · 24/04/2023 00:15

If you've had yours done tell me everything I need to know please!

I'm getting micro / powder brows - I over plucked in the 90s and have the shittest brows ever

I'm terrified I'll hate them but I'm so sick of drawing them on (badly) every morning

You won't regret it!

Just be sure that you've done your research on where you are getting it done. There are a lot of bad ones out there.

Make sure to get numbing cream and apply to your brows before you go in ( like 1.5ths before and then 30 mins before)

It is a scratchy feeling but it's bearable

Workyticket · 24/04/2023 07:41

Thanks @Anonposter123 I've been stalking her socials for ages so I'm 99% sure on her - still nervous though

I've had shit thin, sparse brows with a chunk missing either side of my nose that I know I'm going to feel like they're massive

Haven't looked into numbing cream and she didn't mention it 😕

Just remember - it's a face tattoo. It usually fades to grey or red. Laser removal is expensive and lots of people are left with yellow brows as certain pigment shades cannot be removed. Read up here before you do it: https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrobladingRemoval/

Chesneyhawkes1 · 24/04/2023 07:51

I don't use the cream. I find it quite a pleasant feeling. But I have lots of normal tattoos.

You won't regret it! After they will look way too dark. But don't panic. They fade as they heal.

I've had mine done 3 times and love them.

BishyBarnyBee · 24/04/2023 08:03

I'm not high maintenance and do a lot of sport. Mine didn't take brilliantly, looked OK, but I decided not to keep going back. They now have red lines where the beautiful brown was. I have a good cover up brow definer product so it's not a problem but I think you need to realise you are signing up for ongoing top ups, and if your skin doesn't hold the dye well, that could be quite frequent.

Bizzyone · 24/04/2023 08:08

Best thing Ive done beauty wise! Was just scratchy and quite relaxing after a while 😅 Mine havent faded much in 2yrs (couldnt get the top up after a year due to pregnancy) will definitely get them topped up though as its so nice not having to get them tinted/draw them in etc

amibeingunreasonable21 · 24/04/2023 08:11

Best thing I did, 5 years ago, and have yearly 'top-ups'. It will be darker at first but after a week or so it starts to fade and looks more natural, just how I like it.

bestbefore · 24/04/2023 08:38

You might sneeze!

Duvetdweller · 24/04/2023 08:41

I’ve just had mine does as SPMU (love them) but the therapist said they’re looking at making micro blading illegal 🤷‍♀️

LadyOfTheCanyon · 24/04/2023 10:01

I didn't have numbing cream as my therapist advises against it on account of its much easier for them to cut deeper if you can't feel it. It was uncomfortable and scratchy but perfectly bearable. Had mine done 3 years ago and only now thinking they need a refresh.

IhearyouClemFandango · 24/04/2023 10:06

Check whether it is actually microblading or not, as apparently it isn't all that popular now. Am guessing it isn't by your description.

I had mine done 2 weeks ago and am pleased with them so far. For the first couple of days they were far too dark and I was angsty about it, but she did warn me. Now they are much lighter, but will 'bloom' back a little. When I go for my top up at 6 wks I'm going to ask for a few more hair strokes to be added.

Oh those look good.

OkayBozo · 24/04/2023 10:16

Best thing I ever did! But do your research and find a really bloody good artist

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 24/04/2023 10:32

I love mine. I'm currently letting them fade as after 6 years (with top ups) the shape is becoming a bit dated - the current trend is for finer brows. I can't wait for them to finally go and have them redone.

I've just had lip blush done too. It's taken years off me. SPMU is a wonderful thing.

These look very nice .. I'm quite jealous

I was put off when a colleague with similar hair and skin tones came back with gun metal grey eyebrows

2 years later .. still grey now but faded with slightly yellow patches

Wiennetta · 24/04/2023 11:35

I’ve had mine done.

Wear something comfy as you’ll be lying down for quite a while.

You need to be careful not to get them wet while they’re healing so on top of all the advice from PPs I’d say wash your hair the morning of getting them done so you can minimise how many times you need to wash while they’re healing as it’s a bit of a faff washing hair.

They will look quite dark so don’t make any social plans or only make plans with people you’re happy to see while they are dark and may be a bit red or flakey etc.

Otherwise the process itself and recovery I found fine - some pain, nothing serious and just some itchiness as they healed.

I went to a great artist and was very happy with the result. They’re fading but just to a lighter brown. Different artists will use different pigments so it’s not necessarily the case that they’ll fade to grey, yellow or red as some people experience. Mine are also only to fill in the gaps between the normal boundary of the eyebrows - just where they were a bit sparse really - so they’re very natural looking.

It is, but it's not the usual tattoo ink and doesn't go as deep. If it fades to weird colours they picked the wrong colour or used the wrong ink.

Workyticket · 24/04/2023 18:00

Thanks for the feedback everyone- I'm definitely worried about them looking massive (getting them done Thursday morning then I'm at work on the afternoon) so I'm preparing for a bit of ribbing from my pals)

I've joked about nipping straight to get a fringe cut in 😀

Am I your clone OP?! I’m exactly the same , sparse 90s over plucked brow. Having them done Thursday too! Am currently sat in hairdressers having my fringe made fuller just in case! Update on Thursday …

usernother · 24/04/2023 19:54

The worst thing about mine when I got them done was the scabbing whilst they healed. It looked terrible. I was so glad I'd cut myself a fringe in before I left for the appointment.

Vinvertebrate · 24/04/2023 20:01

Best money I ever spent apart from Botox!!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 25/04/2023 04:24

I used the wet healing technique, so no scabs, just kept the area always moistened with a Bepanthen type cream for a week while they healed.

Haha - amazing coincidence! I used to have a fringe and am so tempted to cut it back in 🤣

I'm booked in for 9am so will definitely update!

Thanks for the hair wash tip @Wiennetta

Erm - how do I wash my face once they're done? I usually use a foaming face wash but guessing that's a no for a while!

OP posts:
IhearyouClemFandango · 25/04/2023 07:56

I washed my face very carefully, and just left my eyebrows out. I didn't really get any scabbing, just a little flaking at about a week past.
