Where would I find clothes like this?

So, I’m almost 30 and feel like my style is in a transitional phase at the moment. I’m completely over the “trendy” polyester rubbish in Zara, H&M and the like and want to invest in some good quality pieces and basically overhaul my wardrobe in time for summer!

These are some looks I’ve saved on Pinterest which I love. Simple, slightly floaty but chic. Can anyone recommend some brands with a similar vibe?

Oh poetry is beautiful @BansheeofInsherin I can't really afford it either but would love to!

OP I think the solution has to be identifying types of clothes- colour palettes and style and fabric then finding a range of shops and scouring their sales. I reckon you might find some good bits on Thought if you look carefully. Then even h&m do some decent fabrics in the higher end bit/conscious section.
I would also invest carefully in some long term items- I have a jumper from navy grey for example which cost a lot but is stunning and will last forever. I also have a few things from baujken. Sale shopping in your preferred shops is the way forward!
Cos might also have some good bits. And I think mango is better than Zara

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 15/04/2023 09:47

Oh my life that Poetry stuff is lovely. 😍 Agree about Mango too.
@Greeksummer check out Nrby as well.

BansheeofInsherin · 15/04/2023 09:48

I have found some bargains in vintage shops. They seem to be the only place to find good cotton these days. Thought is also good sometimes.

sashagabadon · 15/04/2023 09:49

Cos, Wrap London, Boden, Whistles, Massimo Dutti, Me and Em,

BansheeofInsherin · 15/04/2023 09:59

I love Forgotten Tribes but I have realised, sadly, that oversize clothing looks best on very slim people. Makes me look pregnant.

Greeksummer · 15/04/2023 10:14

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone. Massimo Dutti and Poetry are probably the closest to what I’m looking for. Agree @BansheeofInsherin I think charity shops, Vinted and depop will also be my friend.

Yes, came on to say Poetry. It's a lovely look, although I think it's the sort of look that looks chic on the young, beautiful, tall slim models, but on someone like me who's 50, slightly chunkier with bad posture would be unflattering.

AgnesGray · 15/04/2023 10:20

I've got quite a few Poetry bits from Vinted for very little money.

I have already mentioned these on here today so hope I don't get reported for spamming. I don't work for them!! But I love Lucy and Yak Alexa trousers which are a similar shape to the ones in your first pic. The colours are brighter though. I have the green ones and some black ones. I don't like L&Y prints all that much.

I also love this look btw.

It probably wouldn't. I think there's "comfortable clothes" which has a literal meaning and "comfortable clothes" which are more a state of mind than literal. Poetry for me would be in the state of mind sense and being "comfortable" in that sense is likely to be flattering.

Does that make any sense?

Greeksummer · 15/04/2023 10:33

Ah Lucy and Yak isn’t really to my taste! I’m thinking neutrals, simplicity, effortless - looks amazing in the summer with a little bit of a tan, tousled imperfect hair and minimalist gold jewellery.

River Island have gone floaty and boho this season and their beige trousers are a staple in my wardrobe. I always get compliments when wearing them. The fabric is generally higher quality

MrsWidgerysLodger · 15/04/2023 10:36

Another vote for Forgotten Tribes. Some of it is more patterned but there's some good plain staples in this style too.

BansheeofInsherin · 15/04/2023 10:37

I think this Massimo Dutti silk shirt is a bargain. Considering buying it though it may be too shiny in the flesh. Silk shirt with pockets - Massimo Dutti United Kingdom

I have bought 1 summer dress from Poetry per summer for about the last 5 years sometimes in the sale & now have a really nice collection of summer dresses!

They are pretty timeless so don't really go out of fashion.

Greeksummer · 15/04/2023 10:50

I’m not keen on the shine or pockets @BansheeofInsherin but they have some beautiful pieces in their linen collection. I’m eyeing up a pair of wide leg trousers and this dress.

Thank you @NatashaDancing I’ll definitely peruse these when I have time.

OMG that Massimo dress is gorgeous. Please buy it.

You are probably right about the shiny shirt.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 15/04/2023 11:00

Wrap London sell very similar clothing too. I think they may have the same owners as Poetry.

Crikeyalmightey · 15/04/2023 11:17

I love the softer colours and lack of busy patterns. I seem to have a lot of too bright colours and flowery stuff in my summer wardrobe, and am going off it. (any excuse to buy new clothes) 😉

Greeksummer · 15/04/2023 11:21

It’s gorgeous, isn’t it!@BansheeofInsherin

Lusting after quite a few things from wrap London, also.

For those oversize type trousers I have some from the uniqlo men’s section (I buy them a little too large and then wear with a thick-ish belt)

I agree that Mango often has the types of items in the pictures.

Greeksummer · 15/04/2023 11:26

I’m so over florals @Crikeyalmightey. I’ve never been one for lots of colour and I loathe the idea that summer = bright colours. That’s not to say that some people don’t suit it (horses for courses and all that) but it’s just not me.
