What beauty treatments do you do that feel really worth it?

HiddenGiraffes · 30/03/2023 11:21

balyage, microneedling, waxing, eyelash extensions, injectables...

What treatments do you have that you feel give real bang for your buck? As in, the amount they improve your appearance/self-confidence fully justifies the cost.

I'm looking to start doing a bit more for myself, but like most of us I don't have unlimited budget.

Eye lash extensions, natural set make a huge difference to my face but they do damage my lashes when I have them so only for special occasions now, plus they are expensive and take ages.

Tret and lots of hydration makes my skin glow

Then it's just boring stuff like eating lots of fruit and veg, fresh air, water. That makes me look much more healthy

ArianahX · 30/03/2023 11:39

Regular Blonde highlights & tint really improve my whole look.

AuntieMarys · 30/03/2023 11:47

Hydrafacial

QuertyGirl · 30/03/2023 11:52

Being teetotal

Exercise in the fresh air

Daily exfoliation with a real sponge

Sunscreen

Retinol

nicotinamide

PoppyCocky · 30/03/2023 11:55

It depends on what you need
Personally I like my eyebrows done and greys dyed.

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 30/03/2023 11:58

Facial mesotherapy twice a year - makes my skin glow and helps a little bit with fine lines

Retinol (although can't use it now that I am pregnant)

Facials once a month

I had Botox done and am have a decent skincare routine going on (vit c, retinol, spf 50...) and I feel like that's given me a good enough base that I'm ready to pay more attention to other things. I've got two preschool age kids and am really due a glow up.

Tretinoin is absolutely worth the cost
fillers to replace lost volume
Would also include a lash lift if I didn't have an allergy to it which makes me sad.

Is a lash lift worth it even if your existing lashes aren't that great? I've tried extensions and it was a disaster, I'm not sure the person doing it was very skilled though.

Botox and vitamin c.

satsuuuumas · 30/03/2023 12:16

For my skin, SPF every day, drinking lots of water and a good skincare routine morning and night keeps it feeling healthy. Exfoliation & moisturising whole body too.

A massage focusing on my back every now and then does me the world of good too, I get so tense and it feels soooo good when they get the knots.

Nails done every 2/3 weeks, makes me feel like I have my life together haha!

I exercise 3 times a week at the very least, not a treatment as such but I feel better for it so it's really worth it for me.

Pyjamasalldayplease · 30/03/2023 12:17

I get my brows tattooed, because they're naturally very faint. It makes a huge difference to my face and makes my morning routine easier too.

Saving up for eyeliner tattoo too, because it looks fantastic.

Make sure you find a really good technician for this type of work though because there are lots of bad ones out there!

memyselfi · 30/03/2023 12:17

If your existing lashes aren't great you'd be better using revitalash or similar , eye lash extensions are damaging to your own lashes.

Pyjamasalldayplease · 30/03/2023 12:20

Also, fresh air, keeping hydrated, keeping skin hydrated day and night with moisturiser, taking makeup off thoroughly, and eating lots of fruit and veg.

massivesalads · 30/03/2023 12:39

Drinking lots of water and eating healthy foods

Regular exercise and strength training

Kerasilk blow dry every 4 months (expensive but saves so much time and energy on me doing my hair everyday!)

Simple skincare routine using products with minimal ingredients

I tint my eyebrows, dye my hair and do gel nails myself so I save £££!

Laiste · 30/03/2023 12:41

Genuinely worth the £££ ...

Revitalash.
Been using it for 10 years. At the end of last year i tried a cheaper one - gave it a couple of months using properly - my lashes gradually lost all their length so i bit the bullet and forked out for RL again 🙄 painfully pricey, but does last for ages, (6 months at least for 3ml) and now i have my lashes back.

Wella Toner (in the pale blue box) and a big bottle of 9% developer.
Developer easy to get (massive bottle for a tenner) but toner a bit of a PITA to get hold of, and £10 for little one use bottle now, but mixed with the developer and 15 mins later my blonde hair is totally de-yellowed and my grown out roots are all blended in as if i've been to the hairdressers. Once every couple of months.

Estee Lauder Double Wear.
I can't afford a bottle at the moment so making do with max factor, but DW is very worth the money and a bottle lasts me 6 months.

St. Tropez facial spray.
Easy peazy, smells nice, and works. Lasts ages.

Gel nails.
In fill once every 4 weeks - long strong nails all the time.

Hour glass make up primer.
Another one i can't afford at the mo, but will buy again when i can. It's just amazing.

Kerastase shampoo and cond.
I would sell a kidney to keep using this. One bottle lasts me apx 3 months. It's divine. 2 xmas' ago i was skint so i asked for them as 2 of my xmas presents from family.

Flexitol Heel Balm
Not very exciting - just a fragrance free thick creme which is quite pricey. But it really works! Feet like a baby.

Nuxe Oil Huile Prodigieuse.
This is another one i have as an xmas present and a large bottle lasts me a year. I wouldn't afford it otherwise. It's LOVELY! Smells gorgeous and is great as a night oil or whenever you want to pamper your skin on face/neck/back of hands.

Artemisty · 30/03/2023 13:25

@HiddenGiraffes it depends what you want. They'll look like you've got basic mascara and curl on all the time. I do think it makes a difference but it's not going to be the same as extensions.
The person I go to is brilliant. I've got friends that go to her for lash extensions as well and they never look heavy or fake.

pattyparsnip · 30/03/2023 15:01

Lash lift , hd brows done naturally. Roots and trim every 7 weeks, retinal . I'm not so fussed about nails just keep them short and neat . I second the kerastase I use the bodifying one and it makes a huge difference to my hair . Also aeye lash serum so I get a better result from my lift .

Eatentoomanyroses · 30/03/2023 15:07

I use an eyelash serum, lumigan. I used to have extensions but during lockdown I couldn’t have them so really worked on my lashes with the serum and they grew lovely so I’ve never gone back. I have Botox and I have my hair coloured and extensions for volume every 8 weeks. I also have gel nails. I had all my body hair lasered off 17 years ago and I never shave so that’s been worth it.

Sofitella · 30/03/2023 16:44

Has anyone listing eyelash serum experienced the issue with orbital fat loss?

Mixedin · 30/03/2023 16:52

@Laiste this is a good list

Untrusting · 31/03/2023 20:04

@Laiste just screen shot your list. Particularly interested in the wella products.

Copying your format;

Botox
Had it for the first time 3 months ago and wish I'd started it much earlier. So pleased with how refreshed I look, I got all 3 areas done. Crows feet, frown lines and forehead.

Estée Lauder Double wear
Another vote for this nothing else comes close in my opinion just fantastic coverage. I have combination skin.

Bobby brown lip balm in a tin.
The Palest pink and makes your lips look amazing. It's literally the only thing making me hold off having lip fillers. Especially if you put it on last thing at night you wake up having smooth plump lips.

I get my nails done every 3 weeks. I know lots of people are against it but I choose acrylic as I'm so hard on my hands and gels never ever lasted no matter what the brand was.
But it makes me feel 'finished' when I have them done and gives me a boost when I see my hands.

Olaplex blow dry crème (number 6?)
Makes my split ends and damaged hair disappear and gives me a great finish when I take the time to blow dry my hair.

Aveda Volumising spray
Really gives my poor thin hair some 'oomph'
Not far off looking at buying the Halo Extensions but this volumiser really works.

Lash extensions
I had these for about 2 years and gave up in the end a) due to cost but also b) the time it took to go and get it done. I now buy strip extensions from eyelure. They really open my hooded eyes so much and make me look more awake. I practised applying them in lockdown and I'm a whizz now I have 3 different types and lengths I use for different occasions.

If I was wealthier I'd spend so much more as well - this is me on a beauty budget 😬
