Baccarat Rouge

I wonder if I'm the only person in the world that hates the small of baccarat rouge 540. Everyone raved about it so due to the price I bought a dupe to try first. It was rank and made my feel sick as if a migraine was coming on.

I thought no way can everyone be raving about that and assumed I had a dodgy dupe.

I recently got a 10ml sample bottle of the real thing and it is equally as rank. It has a weird overpowered toxic smell with an undertone of teenage boy BO! I had to wash it off as it was making feel so nauseous and I can still smell it now when thinking about it.

I work in a school and there are a few kids with asthma and I was worried I would trigger them in to an attack if I wore in class.

Why are people going crazy for this minging perfume!

Same! One of my favourite perfumers.

I prefer some of the more conservative, classically feminine perfumes under his MFK brand to BR540 - Feminin Pluriel, A La Rose, Amyris, Aqua Celestia Forte. I could spend a fortune on his perfumes (if I had one ).

He is also the ‘nose’ behind Narciso Rodriguez for her, one of my favourite mainstream classics, and Nina Ricci L’Extase Rose Absolue, a favourite rose fragrance. Dreamy.

I have baccarat rouge and i can certainly tell you that it doesn’t smell like mermite 😂😂

i like it. It’s bern my favourite perfume for so long. Now i dont use it anymore because too many people use it.

I'm even more puzzled then as I assumed I liked the smell of jasmine. My first flat was full of jasmine plants and I would give them a sniff as I walked past.

I do love Narsico Rodrigues Musc and I haven't found anything similar or better for a while.

Jasmine has many faces. Fresh jasmine from the garden is one gorgeous version, but some jasmine can smell indolic (like faeces) and other times it can be a heady, rich floral, almost too much. In my experience, it can vary massively.

Chanel No 5 in the bottle, nice enough but done to death. On me it’s gone in about 30 mins. Same with any Byredo, they don’t last on me 🥲

I don’t think Cloud smells very similar to BR, it’s weird. To me Cloud smells like baby powder but I get pictures in my head with smells so I think I’m odd maybe. I know others see the similarity.

I like those that have the pickle smell when you open the bottle.
