Morning, evening, anything you do less frequently (e.g. weekly masks) and any treatments or procedures you have.

I've recently got better after years of semi-neglecting myself and basically just moisturising when I remembered.

Currently, mine is...

Morning:
Wash with water
Sali Hughes Placid
Sali Hughes Must-C serum
No7 Protect & Protect Intense Eye Cream
Sali Hughes Cream Drench moisturiser
Nivea Sun Shine Control SPF 50

Evening:
No7 Radiant Results Nourishing Melting Gel Cleanser
Olay Retinol 24 Night Eye Cream
La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 Serum
Sali Hughes Cream Drench moisturiser

it's only been a couple of weeks but I think I'm seeing improvements. My skin is definitely soft and a bit glowier. I'm hoping for more even tone over time.

A week ago I got Botox to get rid of my permanent frown and that really has made a difference.

I'm 33 but think years of bad nights with two terrible sleepers has aged me.

I love skincare.

Morning
Wash with water and flannel gently
Purito Vit C
Dr Sam tinted Spf 50
Erborian CC cream
Laniege lip mask (I wear as a lip gloss)

Evening
Any cleansing oil or balm - I like the k beauty ones best
Tretinoin 0.05% or 0.1%
La Roche Posay baume
Beauty pie hydrating oil or squalene or vaseline

I have dry skin skin which can handle a lot of moisture and never gets oily or breakouts.

I think this is it. I have better skin in my 30s than I did in my 20s, not because I’m ageing backwards or whatever bullshit that skincare claims to do (“reverse the signs of ageing” LOL), but because I can afford to go to fancy pilates studios, take heaps of supplements, have regular holidays and spa breaks, get facials and treatments etc.

By comparison, in my 20s I had an atrocious diet, took no supplements, was inconsistent with exercise, and I relaxed by going out drinking (cheaper than spas).

Yep. I would also add not working to his list. My mum's sister worked only until she had children and she has divine skin comparing to my mum who worked all her life and still doing so. Less stress, I suppose and less money worries.

Every day, usually morning and evening, I cleanse, tone, facial oil (I have oily skin already, and facial oils are fine, they’re not just for dry skins) and moisturise.

It really doesn’t matter what brand you use, eventually you’ll find one that you and your skin really love, it’s the cleanse/tone/moisturise routine that matters.

I also exfoliate once or twice a week, usually followed with a face mask. I use a variety of exfoliators, but particularly love Paula’s Choice 2% BHA toner/liquid exfoliant, Elemis papaya enzyme peel (really gentle, don't worry about the “peel” word in there!) and Gatineau gommage, which takes only a minute or two.

I don’t believe eye creams do anything, and have never purposely bought one, but often get them in beauty edits/bundles, so tend to use them because they’re there.

Always take your facial regime down your neck and décolletage - they’re the most sun-exposed areas of your body. I don’t bother with special neck and dec creams, but you can get firming/tightening ones if that’s a problem for you.

ALWAYS WEAR SPF. I use Ultrasun tinted face all summer, as skincare, foundation and SPF all in one. You only have to apply it once a day, onto a cleansed, toned face, no serums or moisturisers underneath. Very important to remove SPF at the end of the day.

Except having children is one of the most ageing things you can do! I don’t have children yet but when I do I suspect I will be far more stressed and worried about them than I am about my job (judging from how much worse friends and family look vs how they looked pre-babies). Also I can’t imagine having children would lessen money worries - they’re so bloody expensive.

Anyway, total thread derail, but I don’t think not working would lead to a stress-free life and great skin unless you’re child-free as well, alas.

I mostly use mid/high range skincare products, although try to get deals and discounts rather than paying full price. When I switch to cheaper to try them out I do notice my skin deteriorates within a week or so. A lot of cheap moisturisers are oily and just sit on the skin, including in my experience the blue pot Nivea that everyone raves about!

I do think a lot of facials are a waste of money however. I'd like to start incorporating vitamin c into my routine and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. Needs to be vegan and cruelty free

I am a bit baffled by the blue Nivea cream popularity. My father has been using it forever (it used to be very popular in Poland) and he certainly does not have good skin :D I remember it being super oily, and I used it on my lips in winter and maybe after skiing.

So1invictus · 23/03/2023 20:03

Blue pot Nivea is an oil based moisturizer...that's why it's so good for super dry, dehydrated, chapped skin.

Waiting for the posters to come along who are in their 60s, but apparently everyone mistakes them for being 15, and they only use a 10p bar of soap and toilet water to wash their face with

Not quite! I am 63. I do not use soap. I haven't since around 14.

AM

I just use a toner in the morning no cleanser.

Then a serum

Then either Erborian BB
or Ulay Collagen Peptide
Or Bobbie Brown face cream
Or Estee Lauder Day Cream (The one that smells of cucumber) blue coloured. Day Wear!
Then if I remember either the sun protector from La Roche Posay or Australia Gold.

At night I cleanse with an eye make up remover Usually Nivea dual one
Milkycreamy cleanser - Roc, La Roche Posay, Garnier. Then a quick wipe over with a miscellar lotion.

Serum/Tretinoin 0.05%
Then either Estee Lauder cream (gold pot)/Nivea blue tin/Bobbie Brown/whatever comes to hand.

TheVanguardSix · 27/03/2023 17:02

Epli my dad too! 😁
He came from Swidnica near Wrocław. I use Nivea blue pot (on my hands- my face doesn’t get along with it) because the smell of it reminds me of my dad, his sister/my auntie, and their mother/my grandmother. 😌
It’s got an Old European nostalgia for me, which I love, having grown up in the States. Blue pot was in a tin pot when I was young. Showing my age now.

BlackLuna · 27/03/2023 19:51
