What's your complete skincare routine?

Morning, evening, anything you do less frequently (e.g. weekly masks) and any treatments or procedures you have.

I've recently got better after years of semi-neglecting myself and basically just moisturising when I remembered.

Currently, mine is...

Morning:
Wash with water
Sali Hughes Placid
Sali Hughes Must-C serum
No7 Protect & Protect Intense Eye Cream
Sali Hughes Cream Drench moisturiser
Nivea Sun Shine Control SPF 50

Evening:
No7 Radiant Results Nourishing Melting Gel Cleanser
Olay Retinol 24 Night Eye Cream
La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 Serum
Sali Hughes Cream Drench moisturiser

it's only been a couple of weeks but I think I'm seeing improvements. My skin is definitely soft and a bit glowier. I'm hoping for more even tone over time.

A week ago I got Botox to get rid of my permanent frown and that really has made a difference.

I'm 33 but think years of bad nights with two terrible sleepers has aged me.

I've made a huge effort to streamline to save time and money. I'm late 40s but my skins pretty good anyway and no worse since I've stopped using loads of different stuff, this lot is about 1/4 of what I used to spend!

Morning:
Wash with water
Cerave factor 50 day cream

Night
No7 melting gel cleanser
0.025% tret every other night
Cerave moisturising cream (the huge pot for £15)

If I was to add more it'd be vit C serum on a morning, hyaluronic acid if seeming dry and an exfoliating toner. I cba at the moment but have them if needed.

WendyCraig · 22/03/2023 23:48

Morning-

Cerave cleanser
Chanel Camellia hydrating lotion
Anthelios SPF

Evening

micellar water if I’ve been wearing make up
Cerave cleanser
the Ordinary 2% retinol in squalane every other day
facial oil the other days

Pixi glow exfoliator twice a week.

I want to add in a vit C.

Bluebellbike · 23/03/2023 00:14

The same for 46 years. I'm 62 and have very few wrinkles. I wash my face with Dove Cream Bar and water, and moisturise with Nivea (the one in the blue bottle with white screw lid). Same routine morning and bedtime.

Waiting for the posters to come along who are in their 60s, but apparently everyone mistakes them for being 15, and they only use a 10p bar of soap and toilet water to wash their face with. 🤭🤭🤭

Just like those collagen ads were the owner of the company says people don’t believe I’m 55 and I think people are very kind aren’t they?

Epli · 23/03/2023 09:26

Morning:

  1. Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser used with Gua Sha or Sarah Chapman Facialift massager
  2. Pixie Vit C serum
  3. Kiehls Avocado Eye Cream
  4. Eucerin Hyaluron Moisturizer
  5. La Roche Posay SPF 50

Evening

  1. Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser or Clinique Take off the day - depending on whether I am wearing make up
  2. Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner
  3. Hyaluronic Acid or some oil like Kiehl's Midnight recovery or Votary Superseed Oil
  4. Medik8 Retinoid
  5. Eye cream
  6. Eucerin Hyaluron Moisturizer

Plus:
2x a week - Aplha-H Beuty Sleep Power Peel
2x a week (day after the Alpha H) - I add 1 drop of Tan Luxe to hyaluronic acid in the evening
1x week clay mask (usually L'Oreal)
1-2 x face mask that I put on in the morning after cleanser and keep on for 2-3 hours (I work from home)

This made me chuckle! Don’t forget the blue Nivea creme too.😂 TBF, I wish!

I have to do as much as I do because of the acne I’ve had for 25 years.

LynnLardAssian · 23/03/2023 09:54

Pretty low maintenance.

Morning:
-Splash with water and pat dry.
-Basic, gentle moisturiser - currently using Avene.
-SPF (Biore Watery Essence SPF50 year round / Neutrogena SPF55 if the sun comes out properly as it’s a bit thicker and more of a barrier).

Evening:
-Double cleanse - currently using Aldi wash off cream cleanser & muslin + Avene wipe off cleanser
-Night cream, Aldi Caviar

Occasionally use:
-Caudalie pore cleansing mask if pores feels blocked
-Ordinary Hyluronic acid if feel like I need a bit of plumping
-Azaelic acid and or Soolantra if I get a rosacea flare up.

I’ve tried complicated layerings of serums and eye creams and overnight potions, and had retinol on prescription for over a year, and they all just fucked with my skin. It’s much better since I stopped pissing about with too many products.

TheVanguardSix · 23/03/2023 10:04

Cleansing: I either use Frances Prescott tri-balm or else Shiseido Waso oil cleanser/CeraVe oil cleanser.
Warm flannel to rinse

Moisturise: LaRoche cicaplast followed by SPF or Neutrogena city shield with SPF.
Night time: bare skin/no product

Face ‘fitness’: Gua shua and/or jade roller daily
Face yoga/massage 3 x a week
Lots of breathing exercises every single day

Treat: DHC eye moisture patches
Garnier sheet masks

I’m 51. You really have to start incorporating a face fitness routine and kill the booze in your 40s. You’ll feel better for it.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 23/03/2023 10:23

Morning
Aldi Face wash
Clinique toner (I'll switch to aldi when I run out)
Aldi eye serum
Aldi moisturiser

Night - as above

I used to use Estée Lauder and Al sorts of high end timers, moisturisers etc but due to costs I've started to use aldi stuff, and have to say I'm surprised at how good it is.

lenalove · 23/03/2023 10:26

AM

  • Cleanse face with Nip + Fab glycolic acid pad
  • Moisturise with Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base
  • Sunscreen (varies but currently Hawaiian Tropic factor 50 for face)

PM

  • Remove makeup with muslin cloth and Elf cleansing balm (have tried every balm going and this is the best value for money imo)
  • Second cleanse using a foam or liquid face wash (currently Senka Perfect Whip)
  • Aimee Connolly plumping serum
  • Bobbi Brown eye cream
  • Aimee Connolly Cloud Cream moisturiser
  • Optional: sometimes use Weleda Skin Food if skin feeling dehydrated

I'm 28 and have normal skin with the occasional hormonal breakout. I have been religious about sunscreen for years in the hopes it pays off further down the line!

Epli · 23/03/2023 10:31

@TheVanguardSix can you recommend some yoga/face massage techniques on yt?

Usernamen · 23/03/2023 10:34

The only reason to use high end skin care is if it’s a joy to use and it makes you more likely to stick to your skincare routine.

I genuinely believe people when they say they get the same result using a £5 moisturiser as they did when they used a £50 moisturiser, but for me it’s as much about experience as it is results.

ANYWAY

Morning:
Kiehl’s gel cleanser
Paula’s Choice BHA toner
Kiehl’s Vitamin C serum
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
Nivea SPF 50

Night:
As above, without the SPF and an extra cleansing step (Kiehl’s midnight recovery cleansing oil) if I wore mascara that day.

The thing is, nearly all the really rich people I know have amazing skin. My SIL married to a banker is a few years older than me and looks incredible. I do think throwing money at it helps.

Maybe if you're really diligent about sunscreen from a young age, don't drink etc. then simple works well.

OP posts:
rc22 · 23/03/2023 11:04

On a good day:
Morning
Nivea Micellar water
Dermalogica barrier repair
Simple eye cream
Nivea day cream
Lip balm

Evening
Dermalogica pre cleanse
Dermalogica ultracalming cleanser
Sinple eye cream
Dermalogica barrier repair
Nivea soft

On a bad day:
A half hearted swipe of the nivea micellar water morning and night.
Apply a bit of moisturiser.
(These are bad days for my skin but very good for my bank account - every cloud and all that 😁)

I think being rich also makes it easier to do all the other things that contribute to good skin (eat well, exercise etc) and to see a private dermatologist for any problems.

xogossipgirlxo · 23/03/2023 11:24

Morning:
powder cleanser
toner
eye cream
hydrating serum
cream
spf

Evening:
balm/oil make up remover
powder cleanser
same toner
night eye cream
serum
on bad days acid serum or exfoliating serum 2x a week for maintenance
cream or cream with bronzing drops 1-2x a week

I use mostly Tropic, make up remover from Superdrug, exfoliating serum from Facetheory.

I agree. Tried tonnes of skincare and not everything gives you the same hydration level etc. Some creams are also comedogenic or just too oily.

@TheVanguardSix can you recommend some yoga/face massage techniques on yt?

Hi epli. Tanaka method face massage is wonderful. The face yoga is something I’ve only recently really committed more to, but the face massage I’ve done for quite a long time now. It’s thanks to MN I learned about Danielle Collins. I’m not as invested as I should be, but trying hard. Man, the 50s! Between breathing exercises, pelvic floor exercises, facial exercises, I’m left feeling like a hopeless shipwreck. If I could turn back time, I’d have started these habits in my mid 30s. I’m working double time trying to keep this ol’ barge from sinking. 😆

RicciardoPerez · 23/03/2023 11:46

AM
Using the Soap & Glory Speed Plump moisturiser just now - it's devine.
I then apply NARS radiance primer which has SPF30 in it.

I don't tend to wear make up with the exception of Mascara and a bit of under eye concealer.

PM

I double cleanse - I use Soap & Glory Glow your mind balm cleanser then again with the Charcoal cleanser of the Charlotte Tilbury 2 step Cleansing Goddess Ritual.
The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid Toner
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Once a week - I use the Estee Lauder ANR Intense serum on top of ANR.
I finish up with No7 Pure Retinol night cream

Twice a week I use The Ordinary AHR Peeling mask and I dermaplane once a month.

Oh and I have botox 3 times a year.

Just need to get a decent eye cream (I refuse botox on my eyes as last time I was a bit freaked out how frozen they were...)

beguilingeyes · 23/03/2023 12:02

I'm addicted to beauty boxes so I try a lot of different things.
At the moment

Morning
Aldi hot cloth cleanser. Don't like it at all. I really like the Ren Gel cleanser.
Sali Hughes Vitamin C serum.
Clinique gel moisturiser

Evening
Clinique TTDO balm cleanser
Sunday Riley Good Genes - this is a sample and I really love it. Can't really afford to re-purchase.
Clinique moisturiser again.

cocksstrideintheevening · 23/03/2023 12:09

I'm lazy

Evening

Face wipe and dermatica

Morning

Spf 50

Job done.

I think this is it. I have better skin in my 30s than I did in my 20s, not because I’m ageing backwards or whatever bullshit that skincare claims to do (“reverse the signs of ageing” LOL), but because I can afford to go to fancy pilates studios, take heaps of supplements, have regular holidays and spa breaks, get facials and treatments etc.

By comparison, in my 20s I had an atrocious diet, took no supplements, was inconsistent with exercise, and I relaxed by going out drinking (cheaper than spas).

Stoechas · 23/03/2023 12:24

Morning:
CeraVe hydrating cleanser.
CeraVe pm moisturiser.
Altruist SPF 50 face fluid.

Evening:
M&S Restore & Nourish Illuminating Cleansing Balm.
CeraVe hydrating cleanser.
Dermatica Tretinoin 0.015% / Niacinamide 4% / Azelaic Acid 4% (just started with this).
LRP cicaplast.

mrsfennel · 23/03/2023 12:45

AM. Either Chanel face wash gel or Byoma face wash, Murad spf 50 or Beauty pie Spf 50

PM Clarins take off balm or pears hand soap , Creme de la mer or Nivea or Kiehls serum.

Courgeon · 23/03/2023 13:11

I mostly use mid/high range skincare products, although try to get deals and discounts rather than paying full price. When I switch to cheaper to try them out I do notice my skin deteriorates within a week or so. A lot of cheap moisturisers are oily and just sit on the skin, including in my experience the blue pot Nivea that everyone raves about!

I do think a lot of facials are a waste of money however. I'd like to start incorporating vitamin c into my routine and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. Needs to be vegan and cruelty free
