Cross body / small bag - help me not look like my mother

So I’ve had a lovely taupe small cross body bag for years (very similar to a Chloe bag). Suddenly I believe it’s very frumpy looking. I was at a festival last year and I think people were sniggering at it.

what’s a more up to date version of the cross body bag - style wise ones ?

I got this one for Christmas and love it, perfect size for phone, keys, purse and a couple of other bits

I think (like she knows) the camera bag and the bum bag are too fashionable to be cool anymore.

Tbh I think its about how you wear a bag - it needs some contrast between your body shape/silhoette and the bag shape.

I've dragged my old mulberries out this last week as I thought fuck it, I don't care if they're unfashionable I like them and like previous posters have said, trends move so fast now I can never be bothered to try and catch up with them. I've got a small cross body leather one and it's kind of taupe. I don't care if people laugh at me, I like it! They can sod off 😂

To be fair I did post on here asking if they were a bit dated, but then decided eh wtf.

I got a pompom London bag with funky interchangeable straps and love it. You get cheaper dupes and they have the straps on amazon and shein x

I just went for something from a shop that’s not generally used by the elderly

Cross body bags are definitely in!
The ‘in fashion’ way to wear them is a lot shorter than you normal would, think so the base of the bag is above your hip. Over and open coat/ jacket/ shirt!

I’ve got the Oliver Bonas cross body strap bag in olive green and another similar one but different shape a bit in bright blue.

Also got a cream Dior saddle bag but I don’t use it much.

I have larger boobs and wear these and so do 2 friends who have much bigger boobs than me. But it’s the Oliver Bonas type cross body bag they use, not the trendy high bum bag/cross body style.

I was thinking exactly the same, it would look ridiculous on me.

I want to see a picture of the laughed at bag too because given the description and what has been posted so far, to me it sounds the nicest of the lot. No thanks to bum bags worn cross body. Even the LV bum bag that started the trend a couple of years ago is now considered not on trend.

This is quite possibly the ugliest looking bag that I've ever seen in my life!

Personally I would just ignore the kids. It might be fashionable but that doesn't mean that its tasteful! Just choose something classic.

Personally i would avoid a cross body bag and try a new style!

I have a Roka Willesden and absolutely love it. Amazing how much stuff it holds. My posh bag is a tiny one from Dr Martens which goes with my boots 🤣🤣

Oh and a teeny tiny pouch bag from kanken in mustard.

Tbh most of the grotty clubs I go to I have my phone in my back pocket key in my front pocket and pay for everything using my watch.

Yes - that's it exactly. It's so hideous I almost think someone's having a laugh, in an Emperor's New Clothes way.

If I am at a festival or something like that I generally take something practical like a crossbody Kipling bag sans monkey, I use different bags for different occasions.

These new ones look so ugly! I’ll be wearing my standard fat face cross body bag to my grave thank you so much!

I also have a crossbody FatFace bag and very nice it is too

I wear a leather cross body messenger bag and have for nearly 30 years. I would not be caught dead in that Uniqlo one or anything like it. It looks like a bum bag.
