Is this OK to wear for a July wedding (guest outfit)

It’s a wedding in a country house/posh barn. Day into night.

Is this dress too cocktail dressy (it’s darker than the pic) or would it be OK? Should I go for something a little more summery or do the florals get around that?

And what do I wear on top e.g. what colour and style? I get cold year round and wanted to be a little more covered during the wedding bit).

It's fine 😊

BluetheBear · 15/03/2023 20:16

I think it's fine!

GiltEdges · 15/03/2023 20:16

I think it's fine, maybe look for a paler/pastel pink jacket for the daytime.

Rainbow1901 · 15/03/2023 20:17

I think it's fine - maybe wear a bolero jacket picking out one of the colours in the dress.

mnahmnah · 15/03/2023 20:19

Gorgeous! I would just wrap a pashmina round my shoulders to be honest. Pick out one of the colours

NevieSticks · 15/03/2023 20:20

i think it is lovely.

Bobbybobbins · 15/03/2023 20:23

Lovely. Just need a jacket or similar for the day - maybe a lighter summery colour

MushMonster · 15/03/2023 20:26

Beautiful!
I would go for a pashmina too, pink and blue.

Kai1981 · 15/03/2023 20:29

Thank you! Was just worried as it’s more dressy in person (satin fabric). Might go for a pashmina as it is cheaper than buying a new jacket 😁but might also dress it down slightly.

Yes

Twillow · 15/03/2023 20:38

Very nice - as long as the neckline is as high on you as the model. Definitely with a shawl/jacket too for weather and ceremony.

Westfacing · 15/03/2023 20:43

Does the bodice have support/stays so you won't be hitching it up? Particularly after dancing!

Kai1981 · 15/03/2023 21:13

It’s pretty well fitted and has an built bra but I will get some of that tape so there’s no mishaps. 😀

But yes good point about having to pull it up @Westfacing

I think a bolero or a pashmina is going to ruin a nice dress and turn it into a MOTB outfit. Don't do it, it's too dated.

I agree. The dress is great, but bolero or pashmina will hide it's cut and shape and become MOTB.

I don't have a suggestion though for an alternative. If you really feel the cold, maybe this isn't the perfect dress?

Completely agree! Bolero jacket, Christ it’s so frumpy and dated
pashmina,no. Why obscure a sleeveless dress

BHRK · 17/05/2023 22:13

Gorgeous dress. I’d buy a gorgeous cream cashmere cardigan to wrap around my shoulders if chilly

finished31 · 17/05/2023 22:18

The dress is lovely.

Please don't add a jacket, you will spoil it.

Agreed
no jacket
no bolero
no throws or wraps or pashmina
keep the lines & shape simple, show the dress as it’s intended

almostoverthehill · 17/05/2023 22:22

Forget the pashmina or jacket it’s lovely as it is.

See, I genuinely don't get this p.o.v.

Surely the most obvious answer is because you might be freezing, even in July???

What is the OP supposed to do - just sit there slowly turning blue if the good old British weather doesn't play ball on the day?

Wear a jacket, OP, it will be fine.

Unbridezilla · 17/05/2023 23:41

It's lovely! Don't dress it down: wear for you ever go that's posher than a wedding?!

CC4712 · 17/05/2023 23:54

I love the dress! You didn't ask, but with that neckline, I'd wear a drop/dangly earrings and no necklace.

I have no idea why SO many people didn't read your OP about being cold and wanting a jacket/cover up of some sort! Even in July, I too would want something if its cold. Especially if its a barn- the loos might be separate and require a long walk outside at night!

I'd likely take a pashmina, along with a bolero or even a nice cardigan. Not to wear the entire time- but certainly to wear outside if cold or during the ceremony is in a church. I'd just have the dress is dancing though.

CC4712 · 17/05/2023 23:56

I forgot to say, that unless it was a bare foot beach wedding- you can never be too dressed up! Don't dress down! I'm not sure why you'd even suggest it?
