M&S knickers reviews

What is going on? Looking for some new knickers and finding that many reviews are posted by male wearers?

OP posts:

Sainsbury's convert , have bought M and S for years . Very shoddy finishing with loose threads and unravelling lace and holes galore - was annoying when bought as a matching set with bras etc .

For every day I’ve switched to John Lewis multipacks - much better made and last longer.

This all started when they went public about allowing men into women's changing rooms. I have been in an M&S with my pre-teen DD buying her first bra and there were two men in the changing room talking loudly. It completely intimidated her and she refuses to go in there now. M&S don't care about women and girls. Validating men's feelings is more important.

Why do the reviews all say, "Man here"? Why can't they just say the fit is good or whatever? Or just keep it to themselves?

It's not about the utility of the product, it's them demonstrating that they are part of a group labelled 'women's things' when they know they are not supposed to be. It's part of their crossing boundaries. They will likely know it makes women uncomfortable and that's part of the thrill.

There have been MN conversations about this in the past.

You know the gusset, the double thickness section in the middle? Some M&S pants have this sewn down only at one end so that men can tuck their manly bits inside it. Or so I read. Certainly some of my M&S pants are constructed like that.

I thought the reviews by men had eventually been removed by M&S, but I must be wrong. Could you link to some current ones?

No!!! It's that why?! I always wondered why they weren't sewn properly!

Why do posters pretend not to understand the issue with men wearing and reviewing women's knickers?

The first time I ever saw an erect penis I was 8 and walked into the toilets in the park alone. A Man was in the first cubicle wearing red silky knickers and masturbating
When I was a student our flat was broken into a a man masturbated into my underwear drawer
When I was 21 a man stole all my underwear from a communal drier and was caught on CCTV - he had done this to over 20 women
DD ordered a silky PJ set from BooHoo and it arrived covered in semen

Neither DH or DS has ever experienced anything like this from women.

I am a very ordinary woman with a very ordinary life. I am not unusual and nor are my experiences. Men have sexual fetishes and paraphilas that are performed AT women and girls, drawing them into their fetish. I do not want to be part of any man's fetish - ever - and I should be able to buy a pair of knickers without being forced to.

Bloody hell I'm sorry all that happened!!

Some men do actually like the feel of women's pants - and who knows, maybe the fit too. It's not necessarily all about "getting off", sometimes it's also the fit and comfort. A silky pair of pants does feel good next to the skin so why shouldn't it for men too? We're all different shapes and sizes - men's jeans used to fit me far better than women's.

You are being (deliberately?) naive... Here is an excerpt that the OP showed in another post:

To amend, ever so slightly, Shakira's 'hips don't lie' mantra, the immediate focus on these sexy panties is on the front design. Teasingly revealing with embroidered fullsome red lips would be difficult to better were it not for the detailing on the reverse - lace panels that, this male wearer finds, provide sufficient coverage while still maintaining an amazing wearing experience.

This very much is about the user 'getting off' on describing himself wearing the pants.

This, and the opening up of women’s changing rooms to men, is why I haven’t shopped at M&S since 2018.

Surely you mean their lady bits. 😁😁

@Riapia
I get what you mean, but I think these are AGP (autogynephiliac) men, not trans people.

This, I think, is an urban myth or men taking advantage of the design. I believe it's because it's much more time consuming - and therefor more expensive- to stitch the last edge.

9Feb · 13/03/2023 20:44

@Riapia
Actually, I'll correct myself. It could be either.

9Feb · 13/03/2023 20:47

@picklemewalnuts , you could well be right, but then why are my cheaper basic multipack M&S and Sainsbury's pants sewn at all sides of the gusset?

whatthebejesus · 13/03/2023 20:48

I can recommend Boody for extremely comfortable bamboo pants. I used to be an M&S shopper but they lost me about 4/5 years ago when their underwear quality went right downhill

Haffiana · 13/03/2023 22:40

John Lewis multipack. Better quality cotton.
