If you had £300 to spend…

what would you buy?
criteria:

  • It has to be something for me (a treat) not for a bill/family gift
  • above is voided if it’s something truly beautiful I wouldn’t purchase for myself but for the home 🤣
  • I am happy to add to it but only up to £50-100
  • it isn’t cash, so needs to be a brand that can be purchased in JL/Waitrose

Some ideas-

airpods
silk pillowcase
new sheepskin slippers
apple watch
new trainers

I’m working on losing weight (sodding peri!) so clothes are in my list but am at the start of my journey and have 2 stone I’d like to make go away! I don’t need any work out gear (previous Sweaty Betty addiction 🤣)

I love cooking, beauty and good bed linen - help me spend mumsnetters!

I want to say a really nice vase, as I’ve always wanted a pretty in its own right type one. (Currently make do with a plastic jug). But I suspect I would actually purchase some really good headphones/ear buds.

Something le crueset a beautiful cast iron pan in shell pink or pale blue or maybe a new kitchenaid.

What about one of those pillows with the speaker thing if you like to listen at night?

I have a silk pillowcase and love it so would go for that and probably perfume and a expensive candle

If you're asking about spending a £300 JL voucher because you don't know what to do with it, I'd just spend on normal groceries in Waitrose with some treats thrown in, then put the £300 not spent on groceries that month in my savings account then the money is available to spend on anything I want from anywhere when I decide what I do want, or when I'm ready to buy clothes.

Then you don't have the bother of trawling JL trying to decide what to buy.

This is a valid point, although there are several things I’d “like” but can function without iyswim.

I know myself and what will happen is that I’d fo what your suggesting and then not spend the saved £300 on anything but let it get swallowed up in the day to day :) -I think this is why it was given in vouchers and not cash 🤦‍♀️. I’m utterly useless like that 🤣

A handbag. I'd love a really lovely leather handbag. Like radley.

For listening to things in the night I love this Bluetooth headband: www.amazon.co.uk/WU-MINGLU-Bluetooth-Headphones-Headbands-Adjustable/dp/B07PMRG7HG

No need to spend a lot on expensive earbuds and much more comfortable!

Rina66 · 13/03/2023 09:12

Agree with @belimoo
I have this headphone headband, it's excellent for £15, in bed, at night, I don't think you need mouse cancelling etc etc, I listen to podcasts on it if I wake up in the early hours and it's perfect.

ImAvingOops · 13/03/2023 10:00

I wouldn't spend on lots of little bits and pieces - I'd go for one expensive luxury item that you wouldn't ordinarily buy yourself.
For me it would be a wool coat or a pair of really nice new boots or the Apple Watch (if you know that you would use it)

Gifts for any upcoming birthdays to free universal vouchers for me to spend elsewhere personally I find it so difficult being restricted by a shop .. having said that I could soon spend £300 in the coach department!
