Anything good at the Body Shop

TokyoSushi · 03/03/2023 17:57

My friend is holding a Body Shop Party this weekend which I've said that I'll go to.

I'm pretty much of the mindset that it's MLM tat, but I'll but something to be polite (my friend is just the venue not the seller) is there anything at all that's good?!

The products are lovely but unfortunately it comes under the nestle umbrella

Decafflatteplease · 03/03/2023 18:54

I regularly use the banana hair mask, avocado shower cream (so thick and luxurious!), Avocado hand cream and when they bring out the Christmas scents I love the plum shower gel and around Halloween they do vanilla pumpkin stuff so anything in that scent!

Karwomannghia · 03/03/2023 18:55

I love body shop stuff, particularly the camomile cleanser and drops of youth concentrate. They’ve brought out a new tube for lips and cheeks which looks nice. Also like their vitamin c glow lotion now discontinued unfortunately.

They do a few liquid peel masks which I really like, my favourite is the drops of youth one and the SPF spray is handy for a top up when I’m out and about.

Came to say the drops of youth liquid peel is great, I use it twice a week and notice a difference if I forget!

I love the smell of the Moringa stuff so I like the body wash, the moisturiser etc.

Chamomile cleansing balm is lovely and I like their lip balms too.

Bananaman123 · 03/03/2023 18:58

The Himalayan range is brilliant, especially the overnight peel

amprev · 03/03/2023 19:01

Obviously the chamomile cleanser - the butter version. Unbeatable for me, even much more expensive Cleansing butters don't beat it. The edelweiss moisturiser is also excellent - I'm a skincare addict and the edelweiss range has really impressed me. Very good quality for the price - enjoy!

Not Nestle anymore thankfully. I couldn’t buy from them for years because of that but L’Oreal sold them a few years ago now.

They haven't been owned by Loreal (who were owned by Nestle) for years.
They are owned by Natura, a Brazilian company that also owns Aesop.

amershamfc · 03/03/2023 19:40

Ginger shampoo and conditioner is brilliant. I love their lipsticks too. Body butters are great.

The camomile cleanser is great

I second this, its bloody amazing. I've got incredibly sensitive skin, it not only cleans my skin brilliantly it doesn't irritate and smells lovely.

noodlezoodle · 03/03/2023 19:52

Yet another vote for the chamomile cleanser - I have both the balm and the oil and they're both lovely. They also do mini tins of the balm which is great if you're travelling.

Grapefruit or green tea shower gels also lovely.

GuyFawkesDay · 03/03/2023 19:56

Yep, the chamomile cleansing balm is brilliant

I have been using the CBD range with my mad peri- menopausal skin and it's been really good. Definitely boosts my skin without adding to the annoying 40-smothing spots 🙄. I am going to rebuy and add a retinol serum before moisturiser.

overthinking23 · 03/03/2023 19:58

Camomile cleanser is AMAZING!! also love their hemp face protector, avocado lip balm and their aloe face cream

Alfiemoon1 · 03/03/2023 20:02

Camomile cleansing butter the shampoos and conditioner. Shea butter was great in lockdown when my hair was very dry and needed cutting but hairdressers were closed and the shower gels are nice

YourWinter · 03/03/2023 20:02

They’ve already been mentioned but another vote here for White Musk, hemp hand cream, camomile cleanser, ginger shampoo and conditioner (or banana), peppermint foot spray!

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 03/03/2023 20:06

The Mango Body Yoghurt just smells amazing

shivermetimbers77 · 03/03/2023 20:07

I love their spf50 light essence. Amazing stuff! Generally like the Body Shop but find it really expensive..
I miss how it was in the 90s with the mix and match perfume bar and the little glass bottles

crew2022 · 03/03/2023 20:07

Another vote for banana hair mask. I've gone off olaplex and moved to this

BHRK · 03/03/2023 20:08

shower gels, body butters, lip balms. I also like their make up brushes!

GuyFawkesDay · 03/03/2023 20:10

Forgot about the body yoghurts , I like the almond one. Really good.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 03/03/2023 20:26

as per pp , the camomile cleansing balm , and it’s half the price of Clinique equivalent
also their almond body butter , smells delicious

LivingDeadGirlUK · 03/03/2023 20:30

The products are nice but they have real MLM prices now (to cover all the layers of commission) and buying a product out of pity or obligation isn't going to help the poor sod who thinks they are running a business, rather than acting as an unpaid sales rep for the Body Shop company.

How many hours is the party? Say 3? So to make minimum wage of £9.50 a hour she needs to sell £82 quids worth of products @30% commision PLUS any costs associated with pamper sessions, drinks and snacks, petrol to and from, brochures (these usually have to be bought by the rep) and any free samples they give out. Its a lot of pressure on the guests (usually friends and family) to 'support her business' so she can possible make less than minimum wage.

If people stop buying from the sales reps these companies might have to rethink the predatory business model.

TokyoSushi · 03/03/2023 23:04

Thanks everybody, I bought the camomile cleanser last time she had one!

I got away with 2x body yoghurts, they did smell & feel nice!

What works with older skin ?

ecosystem · 04/03/2023 21:22

Body Shop stuff is generally nice. The fact that they've developed a direct selling arm hopefully does not affect the quality. I like Body Shop and a young woman I know has just become a Body Shop rep. so I buy from her as I prefer to support someone I know.
