I've been using the same leather wallet for 28 years- can anyone beat that?

I was given a gift of a wallet 28 years ago & I've used it continuously since the day I got it.

I lost it once and a tourist found it, brought it home with them & posted it back to me very unexpectedly! I was sure it was a goner that time. I'd already had it a few years by that stage.

It arrived in my post box one day with lovely note & all the contents intact.

I've been given other wallets over the years but just never took to them

I'd quite like to upgrade it now (it's fairly battered) but I feel weirdly disloyal to it & it's long years of service!

Does anyone else have an everyday item in daily use this long?

When I was a kid I used to collect key rings and kept them all pristine. I found them recently and decided to put them on all my random house keys such as garage key , back door key etc. Now they make me smile whenever I use them.

My dad knitted a scarf when he was ten-his first and last attempt at knitting
hes now 73 and still wears it when riding his motorbike
its got longer and longer over the years and is about 7foot long now
its a lovely orange and brown-very 60’s
he just wears it by wrapping and wrapping it round his neck

I was given a little calculator by a colleague for my 21st birthday. I'm 56 now and it's still going strong, and never needed a new battery. Not in daily use now and lives in a drawer but certainly works when needed.

I've been using my hairdryer since 1997. Bought outside Western Europe but actually made in Ireland at the time (Braun).

That made me laugh..the image of your dad wrapping the scarf round and round his neck so he can only just about see!

You have to see him to believe it
he just keeps on going!

it lives on a hook behind the kitchen door-like a long orange and brown snake

Got a hand crocheted, cream cardigan from Chelsea Girl when I was 18.

I'm 57 and still wear it....40 years later!

I have a cast iron casserole I got when I was 19. I use it several times every week. I'm 59. I was so upset when I dropped the lid on a stone floor and it broke. So I got another lid on eBay. It's a different colour but I kind of like it. Trigger's broom vibes!

Sheepskin gloves, one pair 30 years old, the other pair 20 years old. Remembered when putting together GCSE exam practice papers with DS2 yesterday the stapler was bought in mid 90s. Vacuvin wine saver was my dad's when I was a teenager and he gave it to me, so probably 35 years old, we still use it with the same rubber stopper.

My parents had a hairdryer from Boots that must have been as old as me, if not older. It worked perfectly for 32 years, then developed a fault, caught fire and nearly set my hair alight the night before my wedding. It had clearly stored up a grudge against me from my teenage years and chose its moment to go out with a bang.

I have only ever had one wallet, and am in my fifties.
