I believe it is called the orange panic? I got the henna on my hair did a terrible job and now my greying strawberry blonde hair is shocking orange (used Lush Venetian). Now I am trying to hide the vibrancy in the Google team meetings - thank fuck I work from home! Desperately googling what to do getting too many options and need some advice. Do I brave it out like I meant to look like this? Do I double down use more henna in a darker shade to look less orangey? Wtf do I do?

I can see why such a drastic change would be a bit of a shock but it does look fabulous. Much healthier. Do you have any clothes in shades of green to put next to it. Would look beautiful

2Blackcat · 21/02/2023 10:20

I love it! Looks natural

SeriouslyLTB · 21/02/2023 10:23

Firstly: I love it!

Secondly: no matter what - do NOT put ANYTHING non-henna over the top. It will turn all kinds of shades of green/nasty.

Henna coats your hair, which is why henna-ed hair feels so lovely and looks so shiny, but it will reject all other hair dyes.

I used to henna my hair and it took about 5 years to grow the henna out. I tried vodka/vitamin C/head and shoulders - NONE OF THOSE WORK. You cannot make henna-ed hair dye-able I'm afraid.

So if I were you I'd embrace it as it looks so fabulous anyway.

Sadlifter · 21/02/2023 10:25

I'd hate it if it was me tbh, but it kind of suits you so I wouldn't worry.

Sadlifter · 21/02/2023 10:26

Oh I much prefer your older hair. Sorry OP.

Jodielou5972 · 21/02/2023 10:29

I agree with everyone else I love it!!! Embrace the vibrancy!

If not then a brown dye would cover lovely, having orange/red in your hair will create a warm undertone for the brunette.

NKFell · 21/02/2023 10:31

I love it! I prefer it to before, but then again, I love a change!

Enjoy it OP, you look fab 😎

picklemewalnuts · 21/02/2023 10:48

Give it a week before you do anything. Scarves and hats will help if you
want privacy while you adjust!

Far better to style it out and let it soften naturally, than panic cover it and make things worse.

Just wait. Manage the roots with a much shorter henna application. It will fade.

It really will fade, a little every day.

SlouchingTowardsBethlehemAgain · 21/02/2023 11:16

Mate you look great.

louderthan · 21/02/2023 11:17

I love it!

louderthan · 21/02/2023 11:19

I've been trying to get that colour for ages but I'm not greying yet and cba to bleach first so it's always a pale imitation...

28BarbaryLane · 21/02/2023 11:47

Jewel greens and blues, aqua, turquoise, navy, any shade of green (especially sage/olive/moss), russets will all look wonderful with your lovely pale skin, too.

Even if just a flash of it around the neckline/ a scarf/ earrings.

(Fellow strawberry blonde here).

DarkShade · 21/02/2023 11:51

Of course it's your hair and if you don't like it I'd get yourself down to a hairdressers rtather than try and dye over it, but OP, I absolutely love it. You look fasntastic and badass.

SignOnTheWindow · 21/02/2023 12:12

Oh my goodness, DEFINITELY keep it - you look A-MAZ-ING!

BatildaB · 21/02/2023 12:27

Just one more bit of advice from someone who has hennaed my whole adult life but now trying to grow it out - if you don’t want this colour for years then don’t henna again. Henna can be very permanent, but some people find that the first henna dye does fade to some extent, with additional rounds making it much more permanent. So if you like it for now but not for five years time then maybe look for a vegetable dye like manic panic to switch to to let you blend it out.

But it is an absolutely beautiful colour so do also just enjoy it! I have some white stripes I’m trying to grow in because upkeep of roots was getting too much and your picture makes me want to just go back to henna and have it as a copper streak! I’m always so happy to see other peoples’ hennaed hair out shining in the wild!

Add a pink semi permanent and it would be a gorgeous peachy/coral 😍🧡

This!!!! Add some pink.. it will be epic

Elsanore · 21/02/2023 12:54

Just rock it! It will soon fade probably anyway. It looks fab!

Vodkaskirts · 21/02/2023 17:35

Love love love

AgathaX · 21/02/2023 18:02

I absolutely love it. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

FlemCandango · 22/02/2023 17:20

Thank you again for the positive comments I have decided to embrace the glow and own the orange with pride. After the day I have had at work I need some warrior queen spirit to buoy me up.

I really like the colour. If you really want to get rid of it thought, try colour b4. It strops it right back. I put a red on my hair before and hated the end colour. Colour b4 did a fab job of stripping it.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 23/02/2023 12:38

Another person loving the Vivienne Westwood/Boudicca look. You look fab.
