If you're a 12, sometimes 14, what size are you in Zara?

I've not been in a Zara for more than 10 years as there isn't one nearby but have vague memories of their sizes running small.

I'm usually a 12 but sometimes take a 14 in European brands that cater to smaller-framed women as I have broad shoulders and a large chest.

I'm looking at some Zara things on Ebay, I'm just wondering if I would be a medium or a large in their tops? (Or even XL 😬)?

Thanks for any help.

Don't bother 😬 the fit is often all wrong I find. Could be a L or XL depending on the item tho

sashagabadon · 09/02/2023 08:12

I think they size small so I would say a 14

FfeminyddCymraeg · 09/02/2023 08:13

Unless you’re a size 8, just by XL in Zara. Their sizing is as bad as H&M 😡

tulips27 · 09/02/2023 09:06

Oh wow XL! 😕

Ok so there's a trick to Zara sizing apparently.
On the label there is a shape on the right.
Either a

square - fits true to size
Circle - runs large
Upside down triangle- runs small

But to answer your original Q, I'm a size 12/14 on top and take M (in a circle item) but L in anything else

AllOfThemWitches · 09/02/2023 09:40

Probably XL. I love Zara but where I'm usually a small on the bottom, I don't know if they know that a D cup isn't THAT massive. Always have to go a size up in tops.

crackofdoom · 09/02/2023 09:43

I'm a size 12, sometimes 14, and I bought some Zara size 14 jeans in a jumble sale the other day. They are comfy rather than too big (ASDA and New Look size 14 jeans both a bit big for me at the moment).

Catspyjamas17 · 09/02/2023 09:46

Large

barbrahunter · 09/02/2023 09:47

I would say L

Userusing1 · 09/02/2023 09:47

large most likely.

ThatshallotBaby · 09/02/2023 09:48

I’d say XL or L.

VariationsonaTheme · 09/02/2023 09:49

I would think xl. Just judging by my dd who’s a 6/8 everywhere else but M/L in Zara, depending on the item.

I'm afraid this is a myth - the symbols relate to where in the store the item will be displayed.

I guess my question to Zara would be ‘why (if they know the difference) do they not just make all their clothes true to size?’

Dagnammit. I thought I had the cheat code

beguilingeyes · 09/02/2023 10:40

I can never get Zara stuff to fit me. I'm a 14. I had a coat once, that's about it.

AlwaysLatte · 09/02/2023 11:02

I find Zara sizing infuriating

MaryLennoxsScowl · 09/02/2023 11:59

It’ll be completely random, I’m afraid. It’s either tiny or massive and bears no resemblance to the size chart.

dontgobaconmyheart · 09/02/2023 12:57

I don't think their sizing is any more consistent across the shop than any other retailer - it isn't as though it will all come from the same factory or process - but as a general rule I'd say an XL if the clothing is obviously intended to be slim fitting or possibly an L if the clothing is intended as an oversized fit (jackets, some of their knitwear etc).

Much easier shopping in person I find, so you can gauge by eye how they intend the fit to be and what you need to go up or down in as a result.

FKATondelayo · 09/02/2023 13:02

XL. Size 12 with 32FF boobs and i cannot get their XL leather jacket to zip up.

UpYaJumper · 09/02/2023 13:04

Their sizing is dreadfully inconsistent. I’m a 12-14, and I’ve got items in M, L and XL! Never order online, only ever buy after trying on in store. It’s a faff!

schmalex · 09/02/2023 14:17

I'd find a similar item on their website and look at the size guide. Most brands show the measurements.

whiteonesugar · 09/02/2023 14:20

L or XL.

I'm a 12 and need M or L, when I'm a 10 its M or sometimes S.

H&M used to be terrible but I find their sizing pretty good now.

Rainbowshit · 09/02/2023 14:54

I would say large.
