Just that, really. I'd love opinions on it - is it fashionable? frumpy? daywear or occasion?

Can't see any photo or link to the dress OP

WinterFoxes · 06/02/2023 09:28

DUH. It would massively help if I added the link!

Ah okay we posted at the same time Grin

tootiredtobother · 06/02/2023 09:29

oh there it is,
i like the shape and the length can you carry off black?

KangarooKenny · 06/02/2023 09:29

I like it !. Very adaptable to all seasons.

GettingStuffed · 06/02/2023 09:31

I'd wear it like a shot

Soontobe60 · 06/02/2023 09:31

It’s lovely! Can be worn with trainers, chunky boots or Birkenstocks all year round

toucaninjapan · 06/02/2023 09:33

To be honest this particular print looks exactly like some prints I see at nearby shops selling clothes aimed at 60+ years old women (and I think such prints look ageing at anyone, even 90 years olds!).
The shape of the dress is nice though

Movinghouseatlast · 06/02/2023 09:35

It's lovely. It's daywear. You could wear it for work or to a wedding depending on what you wore it with, or even more casual.

I was thinking yesterday how expensive Jigsaw is. I can't afford it anymore, it was my favourite shop for many years.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 06/02/2023 09:35

It’s a very nice shape - proper waist and lower neckline (I love that high necks are going out again), so I think it would be very flattering on. Could be daywear or occasion. It’s not height of fashion but not frumpy either.

2chocolateoranges · 06/02/2023 09:35

I find it a bit old fashioned !

AgathaMystery · 06/02/2023 09:36

It’s nice but I think it’s an absolute fortune for a viscose dress. I don’t object to spending serious money on clothes but to me it’s not £175 of frock.

ouch321 · 06/02/2023 09:36

It's ok.

Wouldn't put it with trainers or clunky boots myself though.

Only ballet pumps or smart boots.

This is what I was thinking. Proper fitted waist not droopy drawtring or ruching . I'm 5'4 and so many things make me look like a sack of spuds if not fitted properly around the waist.

@Soontobe60 - I agree. I like that it could be casual or dressed up.

I don't mind it being a print for women aged 60 as I am nearly sixty! I just want something that works with my body shape and can be worn for lots of different occasions. If it's flexible then I don't object to paying a bit more. Seems like everything these days is viscose. It's more about the cut of the dress than the fabric. (I tried on some satin and velvet dresses in ghost and they hung so badly. )

Not sure if I can carry off the black so will try but I've had my eye on black and grey dresses for ages. I tried one on in Mint Velvet and loved the colour but the dress was wrong.

Very easy dress to wear however its pricey for viscose! Although if you will wear it often and it looks great on you and you feel good and comfortable in it then cost per wear will make it a good investment. I think similar styles come in Monsoon so often but their sizing never seems right on me. Ithink Seasalt has similar patterns and dresses but not sleeves with that detail.

foxandbee · 06/02/2023 09:49

Is it available in plain black? I would wear that but not this. I 60 and I would not wear this. It reminds me of what some women wore in the 80s, which teenage/20 something goth me saw as very frumpy!

stripedsox · 06/02/2023 09:51

Like the style and the shape of it.

Catspyjamas17 · 06/02/2023 09:51

It's nice but very expensive for a bit of wafty viscose.

TheOrigRights · 06/02/2023 09:55

It's OK. It looks nice on first glance, but when you look more closely I think the elbow frills might be too much and since it's 100% viscose it won't look like what I would expect a £175 dress to look like.
The model is 5'11" and it's a nice length on her (with heels), so it's going to be ankle skimming on anyone under 5'5".

Catspyjamas17 · 06/02/2023 09:56

Personally I'd prefer something like this, in that shape. Still viscose but £90 cheaper.

What do you think of this dress?
silverclock222 · 06/02/2023 09:59

I like it apart from the sleeves

FenghuangHoyan · 06/02/2023 10:00

I like the shape and design, I don't like the colour. I think its dated and a bit frumpy..though maybe it would help if the model smiled.

Actually, I've just had another look and I don't like it. The waistline is too high up. If it doesn't look great on a model, then there's no chance it will on the rest of us.

DillDanding · 06/02/2023 10:02

It’s ok, but nothing special.

It looks awful with those boots. If it is ‘maxi’ it would be nice with Chelsea boots.

Someone upthread said ballet flats. Noooo. They look frumpy, always.
