An eye make up remover that actually removes the make up?

I can't seem to find a decent eye make up remover - I don't wear much eye make up, but whatever I use to remove it struggles with the mascara. It's frustrating! Any recommendations, please?

Interesting seeing so many recommendations for the Nivea one. I really wanted to like it as it is so reasonably priced but I found it left a film on my eyes and made them puffy. Just goes to show we’re all different.

I'm interested to read all the recommendations for Garnier Micellar water, as my skin HATES that stuff, it leaves a weird coating on my skin which irritates it, and doesn't seem to remove anything! We're all different 😂

I've used the Body Shop Camomile stuff that a PP recommended too, and that was okay at removing waterproof mascara.

Emollient massaged in with hands, removed with a hot wet flannel or muslin. Cheap, effective, doesn't sting and moisturising.

mumoffourminimes · 03/02/2023 11:22

I just use olive oil

simplesimply · 03/02/2023 11:25

I love the Emma Hardy mornings cleansing balm, it's a bit pricey but feels land smells lovely. You have to really rub it in around the eyes after emulsifying and then remove with a flannel.
I bought it when M&S had a limited edition 200ml size and was £67. I wouldn't have bought it for the regular £47 it goes for.

@BatshitCrazyWoman I love the Garnier Micellar Water 😂

Ireallydohope · 03/02/2023 15:57

Nivea double effects is all you need

I hold and press the cotton pad for a few seconds on each eye. I never rub hard

Then just turn it around and gently wipe the rest off

Ireallydohope · 03/02/2023 15:59

Obviously after using the Nivea one as part of my first cleanse it gets removed by my second cleanser.

I prefer to remove my mascara separately even though my balm cleanser would remove it.

I just can't bear the thought of my mascara smearing across my face

Absolutely love the Lancôme Bi Facil - amazing for my sensitive eye area but not the cheapest. The Boots no 7 version is, however, a very close second. Takes everything off, doesn’t make my eyes hurt or go puffy. Just make sure it’s the double layer one not the other which is not good. I’ve tried the Nivea one people are loving but for me it was not good - didnt take everything off, stung my eyes, left them all puffy. Same with the Garnier micellar one which was even worse at removing everything than the Nivea (I don’t seem to get along with the micellar stuff - with the exception of one random one I picked up on holiday in France or Spain they have all been useless for me). Different strokes and all that I guess.

Elemis cleaning balm! Smells amazing and works perfectly.

MNisMyGuiltyPleasure · 03/02/2023 16:14

Coconut oil - my SIL has been using this for years. It's the best make up remover. Gentle, cheap, and effective. And no, it doesn't clog your skin up if you remove it with a hot cloth.

Metabigot · 03/02/2023 16:50

Nivea double effect is just as good a some of the more expensive one like clinique ttdo and lancome bifacils.

I tend to put some oil cleanser on first to soften it up such as dermalogica pre cleanser or bobbi brown facial cleansing oil

Then the nivea, or if I can afford it clinique, using a cotton pad.

This. Only £1.50 & on three for two at the moment. Used it for years no problem & I have sensitive eyes.

I love garnier micellar.

Before that I used to buy any that were two parts that you have to shake to mix, clarins or no 7.

Coffeetable123 · 03/02/2023 20:21

Another vote for Nivea :) used expensive and cheap over the years and this one is the one I have now used for the past few years with no complaints. I used it every day (I wear eyeshadow, liquid liner and mascara) and I never had panda eyes the next day.

Ilovetea33 · 04/02/2023 21:32

Garnier also does a special Waterproof Eye Make Up Remover that I find very good.

Body Shop chamomile one works for me

Completely agree, it’s all I’ve used for years, love it.

goldennotyetoldie · 04/02/2023 21:35

The body shop chamomile one in a silver tin.

Works a treat even for that very hard to get off mascara.
