Why does toner not last in my hair?

Got my hair done this week - highlights with a toner.

It was a beautiful ash colour.

Just washed it with garnier ultimate blends in case that matters and it's gone yellow after one wash.

This happens every time regardless of the shampoo I use.

What am I doing wrong and/or what can I do about it?

Cheap shampoos rinse colour out faster unfortunately.

Your hair is probably damaged so doesn’t hold on to the toner well either. You might need to use blue shampoo in between salon visits? Your natural hair has warm undertones so the more you wash your hair, the more they will show through as toners only mask it, not permanently correct it.

it might be worth booking in for a toner in between your usual salon visits too. You’ve chosen a high-maintenance colour for your natural hair it seems.

My usual hairdresser is on maternity leave and I must say that my hair has stayed much more creamy blonde. She used bleach and the same toner m my other hairdresser.

So, I think it is to do with getting the bleaching right in the first place rather than relying on toners to counteract the yellow.

@ladymacbeth
Peroxide is what is used to be mixed with either bleach, toner or tint, to activate it, it comes in several strengths, all depending on the level of lift needed or if you if are depositing colours. no hairdresser would be putting just peroxide on your hair alone as this would do nothing.

Exactly. It's why I asked for pictures as you can tell if it's the fact the hairdresser hasn't gone far enough with the Bleach first.

Yes I agree @Lordofthebutterfloofs I've been getting it done for 2 years by the other lady too. Same salon same record same stuff used but the first time with this new hairdresser. I've been getting lots of compliments too. It's definitely the way she used the peroxide.
