Old products you swear by

There are so many new products out there now but I'm wondering what long established staples you swear by?

For me it's the dark blue pot of Nivea creme. The large pot is permanently in my bathroom the small tin in my handbag, it's brilliant and I can't see me swapping to a newer more expensive product

What are your oldies but Goodies?

The big white pot of Nivea for my face. They did a show on the BBC years ago where they tested cheap and really expensive face creams and that one actually preformed better than some of creams that were in the hundreds. Also know an old lady who uses it and has amazing skin haha.

Sheldoncoopersspot · 26/01/2023 10:04

Definitely the nivea and also talc instead of dry shampoo

Mrsjayy · 26/01/2023 10:09

I was a greasy haired teenager my mum used to put talc through my hair!

Roundaboot · 26/01/2023 10:10

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. I get cracks by the side of my mouth and have tried many, many creams and lotions over the years and this is the only thing that works effectively and reliably. It's also brilliant on eyelid eczema and chilblains, as well as the usual uses of lipbalm, cuticle cream etc. I wouldn't be without it now.

erikbloodaxe · 26/01/2023 13:17

Astral.

Theoldwoman · 26/01/2023 13:27

Ponds cold cream. My sister had some in the early seventies. The smell is divine.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 26/01/2023 13:31

Clarins Double Serum.

not sure it counts though, because it has been reformulated throughout the years.

Justlovedogs · 26/01/2023 13:32

Original Olay (or Oil of Ulay as I still think of it). The only face moisturiser I've tried that doesn't make my skin feel heavy and gloopy!

Bookist · 26/01/2023 14:14

Blistex Intensive Lip Cream for £2.30. Nothing else even comes close, even the stupidly expensive designer ones.

Primark no show trainer socks. I think you get 3 pairs for £1.00 and they never ever slip down. I swear it's like witchcraft. I've been smugly buying them for years.

flashbac · 28/01/2023 07:51

Vosene

Deathraystare · 30/01/2023 13:34

Absolutely Ponds Cold Cream and dry skin cream, Nivea either original blue pot or the white soft one, Astral. But I cannot use them all the time., If I haven't used them for a few months and go back to them then ok.

I also occasionally splash the Boots glycerine o my face

Bourjois little round pot blusher.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 30/01/2023 20:34

Estee lauder advanced night repair.
Nivea soft.
Johnsons baby lotion.

Bowsersfightnight · 30/01/2023 20:41

Benefit hoola bronzer! Been on the go in the UK for about 20 years but I’ve been using it for 10. There’s different shades now and all sorts of bronzers on the market but I always go back to it

AliceMcK · 30/01/2023 20:41

Blue Nivea here too, in fact most Nivea products are my fail safes.
Sudocrem
Vasaline Aloe Vera moisturiser
Head and Shoulders original shampoo. I know it’s not great for coloured hair but I love giving my hair a good detox in the run up to a new colour and cures any itchy scalp after 2 washes.

immergeradeaus · 30/01/2023 20:51

Blue Nivea for me too.

FrownPrincess · 30/01/2023 21:01

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream for cuticles and hangnails.

Labello lip balm is more effective than any other I have tried, including the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour lip balm.

Sudocrem seems to cure everything - absolutely unbeatable.

greenacrylicpaint · 30/01/2023 21:48

have we had bar soap yet?
soo much better than liquid foam washes (shower gel etc)

KangarooKenny · 30/01/2023 21:53

I’ve been using Liz Earle for about 24 years. Wouldn’t use any other moisturiser.

Oh bugger, saw this on “Active” and didn’t clock it was style and beauty! Sorry about the Fairy liquid suggestion 😂

I was thinking "What like as a face cleanser?" 🤔😂

We now have to keep anaesthetic throat spray in our first aid boxes.

Funkypickle · 30/01/2023 22:30

St Ives face scrub. Been using it for over 20 years now. Can't live without it.

And Sally Hansen hard as nails. Brilliant cheap nail stengther and base/top coat.

Estee Lauder bronze goddess in medium.

Gillette mach 5 razors for men are far superior to any lady's razor I've used
