Hi - I started having my hair dyed a year ago - to hide the greys. Had highlights at first, but my hair is so dry I think the extra peroxide/chemicals in the highlights just stripped my hair, so nice colour but awful condition.

Had reddish lowlights at christmas and looks much much better.

Also had my hair cut really short a week ago - hair is brown and curly/frizzy, I always dream of long flowing curly locks, but it's never going to look like that!

were some tips on thread I started in January www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2350&threadid=457384#9248721here

bummer - preview link next time!

KatyMac · 05/02/2008 18:37

Glad you're happy with it - I'm just getting more nervous

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/02/2008 18:38

sounds exciting - go for it !!

Lucycat · 05/02/2008 19:14

any of these styles tempt you?

I had mine done last week a bit like the first one but not quite as blonde, it's 2 tone warm brown and blonde, so quite natural. I have to use the straighteners as it's got so many layers in it that if I don't it goes a bit bouffant!

go for it - I love mine - and so do my A level group!

Lucycat · 06/02/2008 19:38

oh no go for it! It'll make you feel great - I bet you washed it this morning and it looked great didn't it? always does the day before you have it cut!

KatyMac · 06/02/2008 19:39

No I washed it on Monday morning

It really looks nice - just a trim & maybe a bit of colour?

Maybe have the changes done in stages. Have it cut first then get it coloured the next week or the other way round. I have think curly hair but straighten it alot. I'm thinking you will definitely need layers as mine works best with layers.

Take the time at the beginning of the app to talk to the hairdresser. Get them to tell you what they think will work best with your hair. Agree on something together, that way they will know you are feeling a bit tentative about it and they will take the time to think about the best style for you and listen to you!!

KatyMac · 06/02/2008 20:17

I do wonder if it has grown past that awkward stage & is now looking lovely (iyswim)

Haven't read whole post, but I would say this - go for it!

UNLESS YOU ARE PREGNANT - THEN DON'T DO IT!!! Sorry, didn't mean to yell. I made very poor hairdressing decisions when pg and spend months looking the worst I have ever looked - which is not how you want to feel when pg or having just had a baby!

My new mantra is "no radical changes when pg!" and I am not apologising for evangelising (it was that bad!!)

KatyMac · 07/02/2008 07:42
