Anyone planning a 2023 glow-up?

Just wondering if anyone is planning a transformation? I am, although in many ways I've been trying for months now!
I'm planning on lifting weights, I'd like really strong arms (or I'd settle for slightly strong arms as I'm basically a kitten in terms of upper body strength). I also want to drop some of my own weight and sort out my curly hair!

Yes me!
I am promising myself that next year will be the year that I start practising self care more by eating healthier and not indulging in food and spending.
I know I'd feel 1000% if I dropped 1.5 stone. But I just haven't been able to do it thsi past year.
I'm joining slimming world in January and it's going! Come spring im going to finally feel better about myself :)

calmandcaffinated · 25/12/2022 22:02

I started Noom end of September and have lost around 10kg. Treating myself to clothes that fit while the sales are on and going for a capsule wardrobe. Hoping to be stylish but simple. It's great going for a glow up, but enjoy each step too Smile

I’m in! I’ve had a stressful time at work recently and managed to put on half a stone in about six weeks 😬 so need to lose that.

I want to get much fitter and stronger so planning to do yoga and Pilates every week and lift weights at home more regularly.

Finally, I want to start eating much better and taking supplements as needed. I’ve had some hair loss this year which I think might be down to an iron deficiency.

It looks like loads written down but I am actually feeling really motivated, I never usually make New Years resolutions but this year I feel like I can commit to being healthier and stick to it.

Lemonademoney · 25/12/2022 22:05

Self care has fallen by the wayside for me over the past 12 months so am determined to shift some weight and be a bit more ‘out together’ this year.

christmaslover88 · 25/12/2022 22:45

Yes, this is definitely me. Had ds3 5 weeks ago and he's my last baby so now I really want to focus on losing weight. Think I need to lose about 20kg

Also want to focus a lot more on skincare, I'm not getting any younger and it's starting to show on my face. Not wanting anything drastic but I know if I could keep to regular moisturizing and wearing spf every day I'd look better. I manage it for a week or so and then drop out of the habit. Also need a decent haircut and then want to stay on top of my colour. Considering going back to my natural colour so I don't have to keep remembering to dye it

stimpy1 · 26/12/2022 09:03

Me too, could do with losing 2 stone. Have brought some lovon lashes and nail wraps to try and keep on top of these things without spending a fortune, so far I'm please with them. Will up my water intake and do some exercise too as my lack of motivation is ridiculous!

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 26/12/2022 11:31

yep. Skincare, weight loss, sorting finances, finishing my MFA. Loads for me!

tappitytaptap · 26/12/2022 18:29

Mostly trying to lose the just over a stone I've put on and tone up and eat a bit more healthily. I've picked up every bug going this year, been burnt out and had to be signed off work twice. So aiming for not repeating that....

Rovinonmars · 26/12/2022 18:44

Yes, me! More exercise, having my hair done and buying nicer clothes

lurchermummy · 26/12/2022 18:51

Me, it's DDs graduation in July and I want to be able to wear a nice dress and not feel fat. Joined the gym a few weeks ago and seeing a PT. Have upped my skincare game. Need to do something about my hair, also need to se the GP about getting some blood tests done and sort some minor heart niggles that have been bugging me for a while.,

SunriseOnSlaughterBeach · 26/12/2022 21:01

Yes definitely! Need to lose about 10kg, start dyeing my hair, fit back into my lovely clothes, sort out my eyebrows/hands/feet/moisturise better, take better care of myself in general 🙈 it feels a bit insurmountable right now but starting with a nice bath and exfoliate this evening!

Nodney · 26/12/2022 23:08

I'm all stiff and grindy so I want to do a bit more yoga (because I have lapsed recently). Im also going to get about 3" of hair cut off because it's all chewy at the bottom.
I need to get my eyebrows threaded and get some new glasses
I also need to sort my career out - that'll put a sparkle back in my eyes

Mumsanetta · 26/12/2022 23:20

@Detectorists congratulations on being so close to goal weight. Can I ask what has worked for you? I have the same weight loss goal but I’m at the very beginning so interested to know!

Notonyournellykelly · 26/12/2022 23:38

Yes, I have joined the gym, am planning to get my teeth sorted (they're ok, but a bit overcrowded). The big thing I'm planning is a year off booze 😬! I have done dry Jan and the like but I want a longer break as I assume I will glow after. I love wine, but I also am tired a lot and find I have more energy when I don't drink.

I'm also considering microblading but need to look into it. I've also invested in some new make up to try to up my game a bit.

I've cut my hair a bit shorter as it was looking a bit shit. It goes to pieces after a certain length. So that's a start.

Unbridezilla · 26/12/2022 23:56

Yes! Getting married this summer, so it's full steam ahead on toning up and sorting out good skincare

Unsolicited advice but go to a curly hair specialist hairdresser! I just did this and it was a revelation (and no more expensive). They not only cut in the right way for curly hair but showed me how to style it in a low maintenance way (scrunch with product when just washed and still wet then diffuse dry for 5-10 mins or air dry in a t-shirt). Low maintenance but my hair looks totally different!

absolutelyknackeredcow · 27/12/2022 18:47

Can I join? I'm in pretty good shape but have a major event in feb and April so need to look my best.
Have started Skin and Me in November with good results by want to work on diet and toning

katesbushh · 27/12/2022 18:52

Me!

I need to lose about 3 stone. I have to stick to it... it makes me so miserable and tired. When I've lost the weight I need to overhaul my wardrobe.

I also need to stay on top of my skincare. I'm pretty good at it generally but I want to be religious with it.

I've just finished my asthetics training and I really think it's important that I look the best I can most of the time. Rather than the couple of weeks a year I manage now. Haha

MotherOfPuffling · 27/12/2022 19:06

Me! Have been really struggling since contracting Covid and am determined that 2023 will be better. Hopefully will be on a treatment plan to help with health issues, which will mean being able to actually do some self care. Have lost 50lb but have no muscle tone left, am thinking of getting one of these to help, has anyone tried one? Found it any good?

Anyone planning a 2023 glow-up?
MotherOfPuffling · 27/12/2022 19:07

Going to start using moisturiser and spf too, my skin is so dry I can’t actually wear makeup any more. Need to do something about my greying hair but not sure what route to take.

startingoveragainagain · 28/12/2022 18:04

I'm in!

AnotherCountryMummy · 28/12/2022 18:08

Me please! Need to lose 9lbs and get fit again. Regular haircuts and nails. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet to be healthy and glow from within!

I've joined a health club and also want to use it for more me time. Sauna, steam etc. Have also got 2 new pairs of gym leggings to motivate me!

Imobsessedwithsuccesion · 28/12/2022 22:15

Me! I used to be a slim, glam gym bunny but WFH and the pandemic have stopped that.

I need to lose at least half a stone and start wearing actual clothes again for shopping etc. Also going to look into laser hair removal and some tooth whitening.

SunriseOnSlaughterBeach · 28/12/2022 22:32

Loving hearing everyone’s plans!

I’ve tried to start a little early today and started calorie counting without “dieting” - just eating what I’d normally eat but logging it. Then come home and used all the bits of skincare I’ve bought but don’t use, done some body weight exercises and had a good stretch! Feeling quite worn out by it all already😂

Zipps · 28/12/2022 23:28

Not been to the gym for the whole of December - too busy at work, then illness followed by a horrible heavy period then Christmas took over.
Start back tomorrow.
Growing out my highlights and back to my natural colour- just going to have it toned occasionally. Sick of the maintenance.
Also regular trims as my hair stays in much better condition.
Teeth whitening and I have just bought a water flosser.
Proper skin care everyday.
Touch of make up daily.
Carry on buying less but better clothes wise.
