What would you choose? Even if you had the money, would you splash it on a designer handbag? Is it worth it?

What I meant is that the prices are ridiculous.

I always thought I would love a Chanel bag but the prices, even preloved, are threatening and I really couldn't justify it.

I've got a Mulberry Bayswater which is about 12 years old. I used it for work and wasn't precious about and it is fine. Similarly I've got an Aspinal satchel which I got at a bargain price in the sale about 5 years ago and the quality is outstanding.

Bottega are good value o think. I'm lusting after a Jodie bag.

@fuckthemail older style lady Dior bags have a zip - you can get them in excellent preloved condition too - some people don't use their bags much.

Have you got a particular brand that you are interested in?

If money were no object I would get the Hermes Kelly, definitely. I will never be able to afford it though! Next realistically on my list is the Celine Triomphe.

I already have a few of my dream bags - the Chanel Classic flap, Loewe puzzle, a YSL, couple of Guccis. But actually the ones I think are really well made are my Coach bag, and my two Polene bags - and these are much much cheaper.

They all overpriced, that is part of the appeal.

If bags are you thing, then I'd recommend tanner.leatherstein on Instagram and it will open your eyes to bags / leathergoods and their worth!

I’d get a Chanel medium flap in black or navy caviar leather with gold hardware. Probably go preloved as the quality has gone downhill last few years.
I’d probably get more use out of a Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 bandouliere in monogram print. I have a 35b in Damier Ebene and it’s too big for everyday.

Money no object I'd probably go for something from Bottega Veneta.

But I'd be just as happy with a couple of bags from Polene tbh. A numéro un and a numéro sept.

@Charlottemh polene bags are so well made.

I have the numero un and dix 😀I also think the neuf is gorgeous but need to stop somewhere!

I would've considered a Chanel but their ethics are shit so no I would never carry a bag giving them more free advertising.

I'd go for something beautifully made by a less well known designer. Some of my bags are well made but looking at the same designers now for the same bags the material and workmanship has deteriorated yet the prices still rise.

@ShoveAHollySprigUpYourBum and @Charlottemh ive also got two Polene bags.

They are bloody amazing for the quality - the tannerstein guy says they are well made and the leather is very good for the money.

I have a small numero un in light blush and a numero huit.

I'd love a Cyme and a numero neuf - such beautifully shaped bags 😍.

If money were no object I would buy nothing.
I have alot of handbags around 25 not sure never counted. Includes miu miu, anya hindmarch, mulberry, chanel. Not a fan of hermes or the games required to play to get one. Don't like LV bags. Tried YSL wallet wasn't overly impressed with craftsmanship. So I shop my collection and would not buy anything now. Have bought nothing since 2017.

If money was no object I would get Hermes Kelly, a smallish sized one and a bright colour and I would use it and not keep it for best.

I've always fancied a Fendi baguette.
I have some Aspinals but they are second or third rank really, i have a couple for sale on a designer handbag site and they've been sitting there for months. (Loads of Aspinals on there.) And they have been reduced in price several times now.

My favourite brands are Mulberry, Strathberry and DeMellier London. I’ve also got a few Coach bags bought in their sales, very good value for money.

I’d love a Loewe puzzle bag but don’t think I can spend that much!

Also love a bag thread @bendmeoverbackwards ! I've seen you on other bag threads...if only I had the collection some have! The Loewe puzzle I was this close but my sis in law bought it in yellow and boy it was small for the £1000 price tag....
