What do you wear to sleep in ?

Just that really.
I saw another thread on here and it got me thinking ..
I love my pjs and warm fluffy socks but only in the evening amd at bedtime everything comes off for actual sleep. I just love the feel of the duvet and snuggling up to dp even when it was -9 last night ! I feel claustrophobic almost if I wear clothes in bed .
I must look flipping dreadful if I'm honest as 52 now but am interested to know what others find comfy in bed .

PJ's. Unless it's really hot and then nothing.

If you sleep naked in the winter isn't it absolutely awful in the morning when you have to get out from under the duvet? I find it hard enough getting out of bed in PJ's, but the thought of going from being so cosy to so cold is unbearable!

I used to sleep naked until menopause gifted me night sweats. Loathe wearing pyjamas to sleep in so bought some cyberjammies nighties which were ok. Earlier this year I bought some nighties from bravissimo, they are really comfortable and keep my boobs in place 😂.
After several attempts at HRT, I’m now free of hot flushes but I don’t think I’ll go back to sleeping naked

Mindystryder · 17/12/2022 09:46

When I was younger I wore full on (often fleece lined) pjs, slipper socks and even a hoodie. I was always cold! I'm not so bad now but I still wear either a big t-shirt or nightie and granny pants. If I'm cold I add pj bottoms and recently I've added a jumper (but I co sleep with my baby so I can't snuggle under the duvet).

The things I wear to bed must be the best cost per wear items I own. I have some pairs of Asda PJ bottoms which I’ve been wearing for at least eight years, with some old Debenhams short sleeve PJ tops with in built bra support. I spend a lot of time and money on my daytime clothes but virtually nothing on my sleep wear. I hate having my boobs loose at anytime, they feel heavy and wobbly, and I also get cold so naked sleeping is out for me. I only wear PJs in bed, I never change out of my day clothes until it’s time to get into bed.

The current cold snap has got me thinking about getting a warmer option, but as others I am quite fussy, I don’t like tapered or skinny bottoms and they are often far too long. And I don’t want polyester.

If you sleep naked sweat and other bodily secretions will be transferred to your sheets rather than your clothing so they will be in need of more frequent washing. I change my underwear daily, but don’t change my sheets every day. If that doesn’t bother you then fine, it’s just an observation.

I have no scientific proof, but I would have thought you sweat more wearing clothes to bed.

I think pjs are a grand thing to wear walking around the house in the morning or evening but never in bed

treadcarefully · 17/12/2022 10:13

I've taken to wearing pjs and dressing gown in the evening but always a cotton nightie with no bra or pants in bed.
I always feel that I'm wearing pants all day and it's nice to get a bit of air to my nether regions at night!

florriemoss · 17/12/2022 14:22

Couldn't possibly sleep naked in winter, even under our decent duvet, and layered, heavy bedspread. Old, cold house.

BamBamBilla · 17/12/2022 14:56

Tshirt and pjama shorts. Cashmere socks and cotton cardigan aswell in the winter.

SirenSays · 17/12/2022 15:03

Always slept naked. I have a heated blanket for winter so I'm never cold in bed.
I begrudgingly wear Pj's when I'm backpacking in hostel dorms but find pjs so uncomfortable I sometimes strip in my sleep and throw my clothes away so I have to keep another set underneath my pillow just in case.

shinynewapple22 · 17/12/2022 16:37

Fleece Pyjamas. I cannot sleep if I'm cold .

34and3 · 18/12/2022 06:48

If I go to bed naked, dh thinks it's a signal for sex

NancyJoan · 18/12/2022 06:52

A sleep bra, knickers and a thin, loose T-shirt. I get HOT at night.

ThatshallotBaby · 18/12/2022 06:58

Nothing. I used to when the dc were small. Pyjamas really really annoy me. I think I read somewhere that you are actually warmer if you sleep naked. As soon as I get up I put on a big fleecy dressing gown and slippers.
Nearly always have a bath in the evenings so not too grubby.

ThatshallotBaby · 18/12/2022 06:59

I do have an electric blanket, which is the best thing ever.

ThatshallotBaby · 18/12/2022 07:00

Dh is pleasure/pain. He’s unbelievably warm, but snores like a warthog.

barmycatmum · 18/12/2022 07:04

I sleep in wool. Not as nutty as it sounds! It’s a company called wool& - my pj bottoms and tshirt are a merino blend. Temperature regulating, and absolute heaven! I sometimes sleep in a dress I have from them, but prefer the pajama bottoms & t

PatientlyWaiting21 · 18/12/2022 07:21

Usually just underwear, and I def don’t snuggle all night, it would be boiling and I like my space!

KangarooKenny · 18/12/2022 07:28

A T-shirt vest to keep the baps supported, and knickers.
I cannot sleep without my knickers on, it doesn’t feel right !

StarlightLady · 18/12/2022 08:05

I’m in my 40s and have slept naked since I was about 14. Warmer duvet in winter though.

DancingSober · 18/12/2022 10:47

I hate sleeping naked ATM as my kids are just the age when they randomly wake up early and come and get us. If I'm makes I have to dress speedily when I hear them coming!

So I normally wear pjs or sometimes leggings and a t-shirt or on very cold nights I wear joggers and a t-shirt

StarlightLady · 18/12/2022 11:08

I don't understand why parents have an issue with their kids seeing them naked.

MyGrandmaLizzie · 18/12/2022 11:11

Birthday suit for me as I'm always feeling warm and can overheat at night.

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/12/2022 11:13

gerispringer · 17/12/2022 04:38

Those who sleep naked- do you have to change your sheets frequently? ( isn’t it a bit unhygienic?) it’s PJ bottoms and T shirt for me.

Peak Mumsnet!

Naked here

TollgateDebs · 18/12/2022 11:29

Always slept naked, as does the Hubster. I have a wool duvet (best purchase ever) which maintains / regulates your heat and bedding is changed every week without fail and if I felt needed to be changed more often, would do that as needed, so when it was very hot, twice a week. Winter bedding (when very cold, so lately) changes to brushed cotton, sheets and duvet cover, which really is very toasty.

Silverstreaks · 19/12/2022 01:14

Normally pyjamas in some form for the evening then taken off for bed. DH is away at the moment so have had fine fleece PJs on for bed as its been so cold but will revert to nudiness when he gets back.

I've just switched my 5 tog to 7.5. His is 13.5. We use Single quilts.
