Will shell suits ever come back into fashion?

Spent the weekend with ds, who was looking for a navy shell suit - I was quite triggered when he showed me what he’d bought. I can’t believe they are back in any colour - but 18 year olds can look good in anything

Gosh I remember my green and pink one from Littlewoods. It had cotton lining so was lovely and warm. Wouldn't mind one now.

I really wanted one but never got one. Really not still bitter about it.

My mum said that's why I couldn't have one! I actually think, she just thought they were hideous but knew if she told me that it would make me want one more. 🤣

Oh I would be delighted to see these make a comeback for the sheer amusement of seeing them again. I went on a German exchange with school in 1991 and the very generous host mum gave me a green and purple ellesse one as a leaving gift. I was beside myself with joy, thought it was the best thing ever 😂

You've obviously never been to a trendy vintage shop in east London - as they are full of them!

God, I can't believe these are back! The fire risk alone would put me off. I had one when I was 7 or 8 which was pink and purple. I wore it with patent shoes 😲 and I did indeed have a mullet. The horror. I hate those photos.

I remember you weren't allowed to wear them at our local play centre as they were a fire risk. They thought the friction when you went down the big slides would make them combust. Yikes!

They've been back for ages amongst the vintage living student fraternity.

Ye gods, I hope not! They were grim. Back in my student days we house shared with a loved up couple who had matching shell suits. I mean the potential for hideous images you cannot get out of your mind, and the static! The static! 😵‍💫😱
