Phase 8 jumper dress appreciation thread

I've bought two jumper dresses from Phase 8 recently. I'm a size 12, with fairly slender limbs but quite a chunky midriff and they both just work some kind of magic. I think it's the batwing that balances it out somehow. I've had similar in the past with their long knitted tunics.

Forest green
Grey

Sharing for anyone else out there who is always looking for cosy and flattering knitted dresses.

They are lovely. Slightly more than I'd expect to pay I'm a penny pincher though 🙈

CinnamonJellyBeans · 17/11/2022 07:40

There's so much fabric at the top. I'd look like a fridge on legs wearing that.

locketrocket · 17/11/2022 07:44

Those dresses are gorgeous 😍
(You sound like me OPSmile)

I've just got a Black Friday code for phase eight so I might take a look at those.

YourBestie · 17/11/2022 07:50

They're lovely thank you OP. I had a lovely lovely one from All Saints (second hand) but it was XS size 8 so I eventually gave it away as it jist just uncomfortably snug :( I miss it as the fabric was so thick and good quality.

Can you share the code @rookiemere - its OK if not!

SudocremOnEverything · 17/11/2022 07:51

Are they not very similar to that hush dress all of MN seemed to be wearing a few years ago?

Lividity · 17/11/2022 07:51

I’m a busty, chunky hourglass 16-18 and have four or five of these exact dresses. They’re literally my work wardrobe with tights and boots.

(checks to see if can justify a new colour…)

Goldieshock · 17/11/2022 07:55

They are fab for the big chested but slender legged...I've got three!

rookiemere · 17/11/2022 07:56

Sorry it's a link not a code and actually 20 not 25

cashmerecardigans · 17/11/2022 09:34

What's the sizing like on these? Do you size down or are they pretty true to size?

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/11/2022 09:39

Love those!

Towcat15 · 17/11/2022 09:49

they look lovely but I’d worry my bum would look enormous

dontgobaconmyheart · 17/11/2022 10:43

I absolutely love a jumper dress for winter as they're so easy and comfortable but think I'd have liked that a lot more a few years ago. The shape feels a little dated (to me) now, and despite being slim I do wonder if the tighter fabric over the bum would really be that flattering from the back- I don't think that aspect of the dress looks overly good on the model in the rear view shots - Quite pricey too!

TheMildManneredMilitant · 17/11/2022 19:32

Are they not very similar to that hush dress all of MN seemed to be wearing a few years ago?

@SudocremOnEverything that's what I was worried about before I ordered as that Hush dress didn't work on me. But weirdly this one does.

@dontgobaconmyheart may be dated I'm not sure - was just pleased to have something that I felt good in. It's been a while!

Now resisting using codes to buy more!

@cashmerecardigans I'm a 12 but probably really an 11 on top and 13 on bottom. Size 12 fit me fine.

How well has it washed? I love Phase 8 for work but my last few jumper dressed from them have gone at the hem very quickly.

MarshaMelrose · 17/11/2022 19:41

I hate those type of dropped shoulder sleeves. You end up with loads of bulky sweater under your arms. It's just a cheap way to produce clothes.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 17/11/2022 19:53

@Thingamebobwotsit ok so far but they've only been in a couple of times so can't speak long term.

TheCatterall · 17/11/2022 20:06

Oh I love them @TheMildManneredMilitant but a bit short for me - have you (or anyone else) seen any on your travels/hunts that are a bit longer?

i’m a curvy 6’ but not confident showing that much leg - below knee is my ideal.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 17/11/2022 20:20

Ah no @TheCatterall I haven't, and they are quite short particularly the one with the tighter skirt.

I have one very like this from phase8 about 4 years ago and it still looks new! Washes well but takes an age to dry

Volver · 17/11/2022 21:38

@TheMildManneredMilitant I bought the Tanya dress from Hush when they had 25% off and it’s lovely and cozy, classic and only colour is black. Bonus it’s long! I’m sure there will be another sale soon so I recommend

PottyDottyDotPot · 17/11/2022 22:32

I have one in teal with sequins on the top half, I wore it at my 50th party almost 4 years ago. It’s very comfortable, I thought it was dated now but after reading this I may wear it at some xmas parties this year.

WhereAreWeNow · 17/11/2022 22:48

I have an old Hush dress like that which I've worn to death over many years. It's perfect when I'm feeling like nothing suits me.
I really like that Phase 8 dress but it looks like it's got 3/4 length sleeves which is no good for me in the winter.
