Anyone have success or stories with jowls? Before/after pics of treatments which have been tried?

I know that this is vanity. I am 50 and the JOWLS!! I look like a hound dog.
there are a few threads but not a great deal of success / failure stories. I don’t want surgery, I’m having CACI course I had several pre covid and only just started back up) and use Nuface. Fingers crossed.. Any success stories with facial yoga etc? I will put the time in. I’ve not weight or anything, eat very well exercise etc.
Any help appreciated - I am desperate

Following for tips too

StickyCricket · 10/11/2022 19:15

Can I ask why you don’t want surgery?

I’m following for tips too, but I’ve just had upper eyelid blepharoplasty and given I think it’s one of the best things I’ve done, and I could cry at the amount of money I wasted on lotions, potions and treatments which ultimately made no difference to my eyes, I’m almost resigned to accepting that I’ll have some kind of lower facelift in the future.

I had Ultherapy on my jawline about 3 or 4 years ago.
It was pricey (from memory €2,000 ish) and a bit uncomfortable but no downtime or side effects.
It's temporary but effective. Will probably redo it this year as I see some droop reforming.

Thread lifts are good for mild to moderate sagging. Takes about half an hour, only needs numbing cream and no recovery time, just a little bruising. Results last about 18m to 2 years.

How long do thread lifts last? And are there any scars?

Blatant placemark. My mum and auntie have really noticeable jowls and I can see myself going the same way. Help!

18m to 2 years usually though I got a little longer from mine. No scarring at all. The thread goes in with a needle and the exit is not much bigger. It heals in a few days.

I’d seen that but am a little nervous. Do you have before and after pics? Cost is deffo a factor. How much did it cost? did you try anything else? I know…lots of questions

Urrgh it's so depressing. I tried morpheus 8, which is painful beyond belief... and also ultraformer which is less painful. Minimal improvement if anything and very expensive. Not sure I'm in face lift territory yet... but mentioned the possibility to my mother today & she said 'oh well, look into it...', so clearly it's less outlandish a prospect than I would have hoped.
50 is around the corner.

BlackSwan · 11/11/2022 20:20

BTW on thread lifts, I was seeing a plastic surgeon's nurse for filler & she mentioned that surgeon sees a lot of thread lifts gone wrong in his surgery...
So I'm avoiding that.

I've also hit the big 50 and both parents have jowls. I can see them coming and some days i look and feel hideous. My DM used to do gurning type exercises as we drove along in the car! She said it would help exercise the jaw muscles. I go along doing them but all I have achieved so far is alot of strange looks!

I had this a few years ago, my jaw swelled up for about a week afterwards and I had bruising. I really didn't see that great results, I was told it could take a few months for the full effects, but wasn't impressed, especially as the costs is quite high for something you have to repeat.
The lady at the clinic said it was best for younger patients who were only seeing the beginnings of sagging, more life a preventative measure and needed to be done every 2-3 years or so to maintain. At 2 grand a pop that's not sustainable for me.
Honestly, I'd suggest saving up for an actual facelift instead.

Face rollers? A few people on YouTube show exercise routines. Collagen ? Hercule Poirot styley chin straps?! Anyone had any success with these or sonic massage type sticks?

user44478673 · 11/11/2022 21:36

I tried collagen serum and it did zilch

I don’t fancy surgery..,everything but for me. It’s quite depressing 😓 thank you for sharing your attempts…I know not to try them

I'm a nurse ( NHS) and also run an aesthetics clinic. I feel that non invasive therapies can only do so much. I see clients who go down the filler route to try and disguise jowls, but I don't think it's that successful.

For me, I'm using a combination of radio frequency and tretonoin topically and trying to keep my weight stable. Radiofrequency is great, but temporary.

I've decided I will have the two stitch face lift with a surgeon I know and trust. I'll have it in a few years time, in the meantime, I'll battle on with the topicals, RF and concentrate on skin health.

Wagsandclaws · 12/11/2022 08:38

Sadly there isn't much that will help bar surgery.

If the sagging is already there doing this and that can help marginally but not much and it's usually expensive.

I had profilo there too, I mean I literally tried everything and it made no difference.

Funnily enough I'm going for profilo this morning on my décolleté area, it works there but it does not work on jowls, necks or chins really.
