Anyone know anything about LV handbags? Need to know if this is real or fake.

Before we go any further they are not my thing at all. I wouldn’t know a Louis Vuitton from a fake if I fell over it.

However, I am clearing the estate of a relative. The proceeds go to the beneficiary (a relative with dementia), I am merely selling the items to get as much back into the estate for her. Therefore nothing in it for me, but I want to get this right.

Provenence would be that relative didn’t/wouldn’t be the type to buy a fake - everything I’ve cleared has been genuine items usually with receipts or so on. It wouldn’t have been her style. She liked high quality things. After months of doing this I’m left with one handbag.

It feels like lovely quality. It’s substantial, heavy, the stitching is lovely. I don’t think it’s ever been used. But I’ve no idea how to tell if it’s real or where/how to sell it unless I do. Anyone got any experience/expertise/ideas?

What brand is the zip? Open it up and look on underside if it’s ykk it could be vintage, if it’s not and it hasn’t got stamped code inside it’s probs a fake.

That first photo of the last set of photos , the zip pull looks fake and to me the leather on the big where the handles join look really shiny ( too shiny to be leather ) I'd get it looked at on purse forum but I think it's fake , but a decent one

I agree the handles and where they join look very shiny.

I’d say it looks authentic but I’m not an expert. I recommend contacting Sian at npn bags (on Instagram and there’s a website) as she sells second-hand,(many unused/as new) designer bags and can probably tell you whether it’s authentic and give you a rough valuation.

It’s a LV Saleya bag Damier ebene canvas, in I believe a size PM. It looks real to me and brand new! The date code should be heat stamped inside the large pocket inside next to the seam.

The hardware is perfect this style of bag had that zipper pull, the stamping on the leather is crisp and perfectly aligned and also the squares of the damier ebene canvas line up and match the original. The packaging looks perfect as well I think that gift card tag is seasonal Christmas packaging from a few years ago. The charm attached to the bag was also sold separately just so you know when you come to sell you would get more to sell them on their own.

Honestly it’s probably genuine as this wasn’t a popular style at the time and less likely to be faked let alone super faked (which is what this would have to be). There’s online authentication services you can use to be sure or ship it to an online consignment store to be sold who would authenticate for you.

Can you contact a shop that sells LV and ask to take it in? I've just had a look at where to buy near me and Selfridges (in Brum) sells but also does repairs.

those who mentioned the shiny leather, it was on a table directly under LED lights so possibly why. I’ve taken some more in daylight.

@BruisedPear there is no inside pocket with a tab - I have photographed the inside better. Two pockets (no zip) and a tab for keys which has no stamp on it. But yes you are right the lining up of the stamps and stitching, if it’s a fake it incredibly well made.

I don’t have Instagram but I’ll search out the npn bags suggestion and also I have posted on purse forum and am awaiting replies. Thank you.

absolutely identical. Stitching is exact all round the bag and stamp placements are the same too. I am feeling more convinced.

however, clueless as to what to do if it is? How does one go about selling something like this? I need to make sure I maximise any sale as all the money is going to the beneficiary for her care home fees. I wouldn’t know where to begin.

Also you’re not looking for a tab but a faint stamp into the micro suede inside the pocket. It’s easy to miss. I’ve attached a picture for you but sometimes they can get rubbed off or fade.

Try reselling on eBay or with designer exchange. I think you’d get more from eBay and they have their own authentication now. X

As much as ebay will take in fees you are better off sending for consignment with npn or suchlike.

She's really friendly and helpful and her stuff goes quickly plus I think her fees are really good.

I would be very wary selling on eBay for something with such value. There has been an increase in scams on eBay as late, they receive the goods but open a case with eBay to say not as described.. then proceed to send you back a different (fake) bag while eBay also take the money back from you refund the buyer.

I would try and sell on dedicated sites or perhaps even in person.

Okay, curveball time. The bag was stored in a suitcase full of other bags. As I said this was the last bag - I’ve moved on all the others. Was about to put the suitcase in the loft, thought I best check the side pocket - and there is a little purse!! A matching one. Also looks unused. This is not good for my blood pressure!

and no, I will not be touching ebay with this - I sold one of the other bags on there. It was ‘Furla’ and had never been used, original tags etc. the buyer didn’t want me to send it recorded as it only cost him £30. Instead I sent it with proof of postage. He claimed he never received it, and despite me having proof I posted it to his address, ebay wouldn’t accept that and I had to refund his money. I now have no Item and no money, he could easily have the bag and I cannot prove it. This/these will be being sold by an agent. The one mentioned looks very decent!

Am now quite worried as there were 3 suitcases total and a couple of boxes full of this stuff. I’ve sent the other two cases to charity as they had broken zips. Hope they didn’t have stuff in the pockets - I think I checked. Too late now!
