Too soon for fair isle?

It doesn’t matter as I’m wearing it to work today anyway and I loves it (it’s on the bright side).
Just wondering if I’m making a huge fashion blunder 😁

I want a Celtic & co one. Are they worth the £££?! @Gruelle where is the yellow one from?!

Edinburgh woolen mill (yes I know!!!) have a fabulous yellow fair isle in at the moment at £32

thedevilinablackdress · 04/11/2022 11:22

Unless your jumper has an actual Christmas tree on it, wear whenever you want.
In fact, even if it does...

Crispynoodle · 04/11/2022 11:24

This one!

I bought a beautiful hand knit fair isle cardigan last year. I think I mentioned it a thread last year as it was a Vinted bargain. It was from one of the Scottish islands but not Fair Isle.

Of course it's fine to wear, OP. I think you could probably wear them all year round anyway (unless Christmas trees, as has been said) especially the pastel colours.

Makemedoit · 04/11/2022 11:40

Does anyone have the Celtic and Co one?

just wondered about sizing as I think I am between small and medium sand the reviews says it comes up big

Easier to wear than a jumper IMO.

Only if you haven’t recently watched a rerun of Open All Hours.

Actually that is the look I was going for (as opposed to Nurse Gladys).

Sagittariusrising · 04/11/2022 13:48

I have found my people! I love a bit of fairisle and recently got a lovely cardigan from Woolovers, who have a nice selection of fairisle bits this year. It looks great with smart trousers over a shirt. I can layer as and when I get chilly.

Three off the cuff suggestions - Zara (cheap, not all wool), Plumo, Harley (can’t find where to actually buy the last one).

I love that last one.

Nearlyadoctor · 04/11/2022 21:04

@Makemedoit - I’ve got that C&C one in extra small. I would agree it comes up a little big, I’m an average size 10 on top 32E chest .
Its a lovely jumper.

Caroffee · 04/11/2022 21:14

It has holly on it so I would say it is festive by association. A colleague once banned me from wearing my snowflake-yoke fair isle after Christmas 😂

LunaTheCat · 05/11/2022 02:40

I have two .. and Eribe one in bright yellow. It’s gorgeous but I bought a size too big.
I also have a Brora lambs wool one .
I love them.

Tiddlywinkly · 05/11/2022 06:59

@EastFortySixth lovely jumper and it goes well with the collared top. Can you tell us where it's from please?

Riverlee · 05/11/2022 07:06

was jumper

This is my White Stuff jumper from last year. The first two times I wore it I got compliments, one from the parcel delivery lady, so a random stranger! Quite like this years version also.

Also love that EDW ochre jumper. Ochre is a colour I never used to wear, but since discovering I’m an ‘autumn’ have started to embrace it.

TabithaTittlemouse · 05/11/2022 07:11

@EastFortySixth it’s beautiful. I’m going to find mine.

Thanks it’s from Boden (not me in photo for clarity…I certainly don’t style it so well 😊). I’m not sure they have the same one this year as I couldn’t find it on the website…photo is from a google search. It’s super soft and comfy though…I love it

Love a bit of Fairisle but also Scandi-style knits - bought this lambswool one last winter in red, it's fab - quite tempted by the cream and blue one now that I'm looking at them again, hmmm... Red one is v toasty and feels like good quality and value for money at £59.

Bimblesalong · 05/11/2022 10:48

Loving these - tempting! I got super into knitting during the lockdowns and now do my own fairisle garments 🤣

i wore this one last night - it is beautiful. Much better quality knit than the celtic one i bought my DD last winter.

ArabeI · 05/11/2022 11:06

I do like House of Bruar. I have one of their vintage style cardigans with the metal buttons.

I'm envious of people who are good at knitting. That's some beautiful work @Bimblesalong

cushionfiend · 05/11/2022 11:10

@ArabeI We have an annual day of hilarity when the House of Bruar catalogue arrives because some of what the 'country set' wears looks quite bonkers! But I do like some of their knitwear quite a lot. And as a lover of tweed, it would be great fun to dress up in some of the madder stuff - a cape and some plus fours perhaps!

Riverlee · 05/11/2022 12:54

@cushionfiend Any chance you could repost the link? Can’t seem to open it.

@bilbodog i brought last years version, and tempted by this years colour as well.

drivinmecrazy · 05/11/2022 13:08

@bilbodog how is the white stuff one for sizing?

bilbodog · 05/11/2022 14:30

@drivinmecrazy

the jumper is on the generous size - i am 18-20 these days with
whitestuff so bought size 20 and it fits how i wanted it to - relaxed fit.

Zebracat · 05/11/2022 16:01

I like this. Can’t afford it though
