Travel make up

I used to travel a lot for work and had a fantastic all in one make up palettes. I think it was Dior or maybe Lancôme and contained eye shadow, blush, lip colour, highlighter, a mini mascara and liner and a couple of little brushes. It was never the perfect set of colours, but good enough and bloody handy for keeping with my travel wash bag so I never had to do any thinking when I packed. It came from a duty free shop somewhere and I have never seen such a thing in a department store.
Pandemic and all that means it is ancient history, but I am about to start travelling again. Has anyone seen anything like it on their travels?

I'm always looking for this kind of thing for work trips @Ratonastick, just had a quick google and found this: https://www.next.co.uk/style/ls205264/p39969?dp=a&dndl=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIss7K3-P-wIVDbDtCh3l4g83EAkYASABEgILuPDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#p39969

Any good?

I don’t fly often but I’m a big make up follower and I think the duty free shops stock ‘made for duty free’ products, so not necessarily available elsewhere. So maybe keep an eye out on your first/next trip.

Ratonastick · 02/11/2022 17:43

That Bobbi Brown one is similar but the colours are very wrong for me. They don’t have to be perfect but I am vanishingly pale so can’t do the whole slightly bronzed thing..

I am pretty sure the original came from duty free in the first place so could well have been a DF only product. I think I’ll check in early for my next trip and have a nose around.

T K Maxx often stock those kinds of palettes. I prefer taking just a pared down collection of my usual/favourite make up with a few minis. I've got some samples of foundation from beauty counters which are handy for travel. I also like multi tasking products like cheek/lip tints.

I’ve never heard of this website but found this one

hogiesonline.co.uk/beauty/lancome-paris-labsolu-makeup-palette-parisienne-chic-blemished-box/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzfr414iQ-wIVi57tCh12wQ3GEAQYDiABEgL9hPD_BwE

I think Boots no 7 might do something similar, but can’t find anything online.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/11/2022 17:59

I don't think they exist anymore. I opt for:
one of these instead of liquid foundation
a Clinique eyeshadow duo
Benefit minis of Rollerlash and Dandelion
A little Milk blusher stick
A mini Benefit lipstick
A tiny stump of Mac Teddy eyeliner!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/11/2022 18:03

Found this Dior one, if you fancy splashing the cash.

Ratonastick · 02/11/2022 20:27

You are all brilliant! The Lancôme One in the Hogies site is very close to my previous one. I’ve found the same one in World Duty Free so hopefully I will be able to pick it up at Heathrow.

This palette is divine: www.hourglasscosmetics.co.uk/products/illume-sheer-color-trio-in-sunset

Purpleavocado · 02/11/2022 21:33

I was going to say the CT one above. I think beautypie does some dupes.

VirginiaQ · 02/11/2022 21:37

Have a look at Clarins. I got one of their travel palettes at Duty Free when I accidentally forgot to pack my makeup. This isn't the one but is similar and you seem to be able to buy it it out of Duty Free.

Photo didn't attach. Second time lucky.

You can always get them in duty free at the airport. That clarins one looks really nice.

Appleblum · 03/11/2022 00:59

Yes I remember those! My mom used to have a couple that I'd secretly play with. Still see them around at duty free at the airport.

I'm so glad to see this!!! I kept asking Hourglass staff if they were bringing it back and they said no. It's such a fantastic palette for fair/ medium skin tones. A shame they don't do a darker version to be more inclusive but there you have it.

grey12 · 03/11/2022 04:48

Boots tends to have lots of little travel stuff. You can pick and chose what products you like. Pick ONE small eye pallet, one blush, a couple of lipsticks....

All my makeup fits in a little bag 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is beautiful.

Ratonastick · 03/11/2022 07:48

That Clarins one is perfect, exactly what I am looking for. Hopefully it will be in Duty Free.

That Clarins one looks lovely. Can you not buy it in their normal stores?

BoxOfCats · 03/11/2022 16:20

Dior has one it just launched for Xmas.

I posted this earlier. Beautiful but so expensive!

CMOTDibbler · 03/11/2022 16:44

I am currently using a Trinny London stack for travelling - base decanted in one of the T pots, a split pot which is blush and lip, another split of two eye shadows and a contour. It is nice and compact but is all colours I chose. I've had a few palettes over the years (I travel a lot) but I end up using only a couple of bits. I save mini mascaras from Boots freebies, and cut down the handles on an eyeshadow and a liner brush so it all lives in my travel bag neatly
