Budget balm cleansers

So I’ve come to the end of my Lacura Balm Cleanser stash and I am bereft - it was sooo good. Think it was supposed to be a dupe for Emma Hardie but I can’t afford EH!

It was the first cleanser in forever that got rid of my dry patches on my nose but actually cleansed my skin and left it feeling so soft.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative - preferably under £10?

@feathermucker melt a tiny bit in your hand, rub it on and wash off with flannel and hot water, the hotter the better so like a hot cloth cleanser really. Leaves skin lovely, both my dds use it and they have excema.

Thank you

Another vote for the Body shop one - dd uses it!

I have a very spendy Farmacy one which was originally recommended by Sali Hughes. So I have thought about whether to try the one in her range on the basis that she may have been trying to replicate the expensive one. Haven't got around to it though. I think it's £14. Might be worth a try.

Another vote for the Body Shop camomile one. I always end up going back to it…

isitginoclock · 30/10/2022 13:13

I use coconut oil - I use a cleanser or toner afterwards because it can block pores

MidnightMeltdown · 30/10/2022 13:24

I really liked the Versed one that I'm using at the moment

Fraaahnces · 30/10/2022 13:52

Curel from Boots or Superdrug (can’t remember) it’s fantastic!!!

RoseLemon · 30/10/2022 14:30

For those who using a cleansing balm and the 'hot cloth cleanser' type approach where you wash off with a hot flannel, how do you get the flannel clean??

Using this method my foundation etc comes off onto the flannel but putting them through the wash still leaves foundation marks on them. Admittedly my flannels are white, do I just need a different colour?? 😂

I use a muslin cloth from REN and they come out clean - I wear double wear foundation and waterproof mascara and they clean well!

Failing that - dark coloured flannels lol!

They're ok for a bit, but no getting away with the fact that they go grubby after a while even on a hot wash.
I tend to buy packs of 6 and use them for a year and then sling them. You can really see the difference with muslins especially. You get a new cleanser with a fresh white muslin and repulse yourself looking at the old ones!

JMAngel1 · 30/10/2022 15:41

I use the really soft microfibre cloths from Aldi - they clean up way better than muslins and they’re not as harsh on the skin. Every now and then I’ll use a Muslim to have a really good scrub but will use the microfibre first to get off the makeup. That way the muslin cloths stay relatively white.

Sorry, not Aldi - Primark!

Muslin!!! Bloody autocorrect

Thank you!! I will try muslin.... and darker colours 😆

MindfulBear · 30/10/2022 21:43

Coconut oil
Perfect for cleansing.

QuizzlyBears · 31/10/2022 11:21

Another vote for the Body Shop camomile balm. I use soft cloths from Erase your Face to take make up off - they often sell them in TK Maxx.

I actually really like The Body Shop’s camomile cleansing balm. I haven’t used it for a while but it always left my skin feeling soft.

Yes, this is really nice stuff and lasts ages as you done need much.

TheSpottedZebra · 31/10/2022 11:33

OP is the one you liked an EH dupe in a jar? As there is also a hot cloth cleanser - more like Liz Earle dupe - that seems to be a permanent line now. And it is excellent. The original seems permanent, but they also pulse in different 'flavours' and minis.

TheSpottedZebra · 31/10/2022 11:34

^ the hot cloth cleanser is in a boxed tube.

BeforetheFlood · 01/11/2022 13:18

Just bumping this to say I've just discovered that the Aldi hot cloth cleanser is available online, along with lots of other elusive stuff that I've never managed to find in my local store. I was half expecting to get to the checkout and find that it was out of stock or something, but the order seems to have gone through OK.

I've bought the original and the Vit C one - has anyone tried that?

TheSpottedZebra · 01/11/2022 13:52

I liked the Vit C one too... but I did think the fragrance (left in the bathroom) faded to a vague notion of BO! No one else here seemed able to smell it, so let me know what you think!

NeedWineNow · 01/11/2022 16:40

@TheSpottedZebra Same here re the Vit C one! I really like the original and the Pneapple one, but not the Vit C.

User2344 · 03/11/2022 03:10

Just ordered the Boots Botanics cleansing balm after reading this thread and it's so lovely, thanks!

spartanrunnergirl · 03/11/2022 03:32

Elf makeup melting cleansing balm is the best budget one I have used.

Deathraystare · 03/11/2022 11:53

@RedBullRacingReserveDriver

Interesting to know as I love Soap and Glory skin care.

Redup · 03/11/2022 14:01

I used to use Liz Earle. This is what I use now £2.50 a go.
