Period Pants

What would people recommend for period pants for a newbie as they are so pricey I want to get it right.
I have a heavy flow and am a little nervous about feeling the flow pooling out of me (it's why I wear tampons)
I think it is likely I will combine with a tampon because I dislike the feeling as the blood flows out so much.
I do also suffer from some incontinence issues, but weirdly this does lessen slightly when it's that time of the month.

Following.

I've tried Marks and Spencer twice the first ones were high waisted and showed over my jeans and the fabric made me really hot.

The second ones I got are briefs and don't stay up at the back and go saggy. (They were an emergency purchase in London when I was out for lunch and the period pants I was wearing started to overflow).

The others I have are primark. They fit well and I love the cotton feel to them but they don't hold much.

I have ordered modibodi but those went back as the fabric felt horrible and I knew my tights would slide down over them.

So I want some that cover my bum, heavy to very heavy flow, cotton blend material and don't go saggy. Id love some recommendations!

Modibody
They are £££ but they last as long as you don't put them in the dryer. See it as a one off investment and get a pack of 5 or 7 so it sees you through a period with time to wash and dry them and get them back in your knickers drawer and carry on iyswim.

They don't show (get the seamless briefs), don't leak, don't smell, don't make crinkly noises when you move around. They are the ones

Angelofthenortheast · 29/10/2022 09:45

The m&s ones are quite cheap. I bought 4 pairs on the 2 for £20 and they're actually really good.

applespearsbears · 29/10/2022 09:46

I have cotton modibodi and sainsburys happy with both

Angelofthenortheast · 29/10/2022 09:49

Also, it might be really obvious to you, but I honestly didn't realise that they are absorbant, so they're just like pads

Ladyoftheprom · 29/10/2022 11:07

Modibodi ones are amazing x

chipsandpeas · 29/10/2022 11:12

primark ones are very good for the price

glassfully · 29/10/2022 11:29

I have the modibodi seamless ones. They were a bit tight when I first wore them but really do loosen to the perfect seamless knickers with no vpl. I also have a couple of their classic briefs that I wear overnight but I wouldn't wear them outdoors. They're much more noticeable on my massive backside. I use moderate-heavy and heavy-overnight. I've never leaked with the moderate- heavy ones even when my period has been at its worst.

Bunny2021 · 29/10/2022 12:23

I’ve got wuka ones. They’re really good but definitely measure yourself before ordering as they came up really small on me.

mamatoTails · 29/10/2022 12:30

I have the primark ones. I'm not sure I actually like the whole idea of them, so just wear the first day, and the last days. But they are fine for the money, but not tested on heavier days.
Not sure I'll stick with them, but will see.

Dogsgottabone · 29/10/2022 12:42

Hmmm I've put mine in the dryer and also dried them on the cooker (everhot, like an aga) I thought that would be best.

Is airdrying better then?

Perhaps that's why they aren't very absorbent.

Purpleavocado · 29/10/2022 12:54

I like the lower cut M&S ones. I still use a tampon until near the end.

Dogsgottabone · 29/10/2022 14:17

But @Purpleavocado and other pps who use additional protection doesnt that defeat the object?

I want to wear them as I can't wear tampons and hate wearing pads. I just want the holy grail of cotton based, proper briefs with high absorbency.

I'll have another look at modibodi but I think all their fabrics are synthetic and so my tights will just slide down over them.

Freeflight · 29/10/2022 19:03

I definitely need ones that don't cause my tights to slide down as that is my total work style.

I'm like you OP and can't stand the feel of the flow.
I do have period pants, and reusable pads, but they are back up for a mooncup.

Cheeky wipes.
Don't use fabric conditioner when you wash them, it effects the absorbency

TinyKittenPaw · 29/10/2022 19:57

Love luna. Sainsburys £10.

very comfortable no leaks and highly absorbant. Note that you are supposed to wash them before use and never soak or tumble dry.

glassfully · 29/10/2022 20:03

My tights don't slide down with the seamless. That might be because I've only worn them with the bikini or boy leg ones and my tights are pulled up to my waist. I'm not sure how they'd fare with the high waisted pants.

Triffid1 · 29/10/2022 20:04

Love luna are good but don't last - a few washes and they lose all absorbency. Modi bodi are definitely better.

I tend to flood and the mofi bodi heavy overnight ones totally manage this. I might feel it for a minute but v quickly absorbed. Worst case when I am at my worst, I have to change them half way through the day. But mostly go 12 hours per pair.

Abraxan · 29/10/2022 20:05

I have a selection from cheeky pants. Used their discount codes.

Dd has a whole range - her better Ines are from Wuka. She also has some from Pink and Primark.

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 29/10/2022 21:03

Wuka ones are cottony, I don't think rights would slide down over them.

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 29/10/2022 21:04

Tights, obviously 🙄

ChilliPB · 29/10/2022 23:09

Another vote for Wuka. If I need it, I use a mooncup as well but mostly just use the pants.

NannyR · 29/10/2022 23:13

I've got a couple of pairs of cheeky pants, but I only tend to wear them when I'm not too heavy because I've found that if blood gets on the elastic part of the gusset it wicks it onto my jeans. On lighter days they are fab though.
