Knitted tights

Not really a cutting edge style question but… I love knitted tights in the winter, usually plain black (basically like primary school kids wear but adult size!). Hush used to do nice ones but they seem to have stopped, and the cheaper ones I bought last winter from H&M have gone horribly bobbly.
Any recommendations from MNers who like cosy legs?

The M&S 100 denier heatgen ones are very soft and matte finish - they don't have the visible weave of old skool school tights (if I've understood you correctly) but they're very soft and warm. Come up pretty big as well (I'm a tall 14, 16 on a bad day, and medium are plenty big enough for me).

If you’re a size 10 to 12 then Next school tights in age 16 might work. They used to come in a pack of 3.

Snag make merino wool tights. Not personally tried their wool tights but their regular tights are fab.

White stuff do knitted tights for adults, usually have lots of lovely colours & patterns.

Thanks for the recommendations. Those Next school tights sound interesting - I’m short and size 10ish bottom half so that might work!

I got knitted tights in navy black and grey from Next (adult sizes), they’re really cosy and comfy….and more to the point, don’t fall down!

TheOGCCL · 26/10/2022 23:23

I saw knitted tights in Next today, looked very warm and cosy.

The Snag merino tights are ok. They're warm and wear alright. It is possible to darn them if needed (I caught a pair on a nail).

Short of spending Megabucks on wool tights I think they're the best going for warmth

I've splashed out this year on falke merino. If you shop around you can find pairs for £26 to £30. I bought 4 pairs and by the look and feel of them i think I'll have them for a long time. The best bit is the waist band, it's like a nice jumper cuff,i just don't feel it.

ArabeI · 26/10/2022 23:33

Second the White Stuff recommendation for wool tights. I have patterned fair isle and plain and coloured from there. I also have black patterned and plain from Wolford and also Falke. All similar quality.

I don't know if we had a milder winter last year as I hardly wore my woollen tights.

These from John Lewis/Waitrose are fantastic. I bought lots of pairs during the first lockdown and they’re still going strong 2+ years later. The Falke merino ones are lovely but nowhere near as resilient and 3 x the cost.

I really like M&S Autograph 100 Denier Merino Wool tights

Next school tights 3 pack

Falke Family. They're fantastic, wash well and last for ages (years).

John Lewis cotton knitted school tights are good and wash well.

DisforDarkChocolate · 29/10/2022 19:44

Hartley, from Canada. Very nicely shaped and comfortable to wear.

I am a fan of Next knitted tights, I get them in Navy, Grey and Black. I am not sure the quality is quite what it used to be but for £7 a pair I get a lot of wear out of them. The cable knit ones are good too.

Never thought of getting kids ones, might give those a try.
