Really easy to use blusher for a newbie

So as someone who has only really got into make up the last couple of years (I’m 45), I’ve never really worn blusher. But I feel like now I wear tinted moisturiser and pore fessional type products, my face looks paler.

im after a blusher that is super easy to apply, looks natural but just brings a bit of colour … can anyone recommend any please? There are so many out there! My fear is looking like a Russian doll 🙈 because I’ve never worn it.
Thankyou!

I like the idea of liquids or the chubby sticks but I wonder whether I’ll be able to do it without it looking rubbish! And whether a powder might be more fool proof!

Lipstick is very easy to use. You can pop some on the back of your hand add a teeny bit if vaseline and you have a very natural glow

Do you have a boots or a superdrug? I'd try them and get some cheaper ones. Or a no.7 one from boots

I could try those yes. Seems like it might be a case of trial and error to see what colours suit.

suqqu shimmer blush. very subtle. nars liquid blush in orgasm (but its out of stock everywhere).

I set my liquid blush with nars powder orgasm blush.

Rimmel jelly blush. Apply a tiny bit with your finger to your cheekbones rather than the apple of your cheeks. Much easier than powder and less made up looking.

Thankyou on the fence sitter

can I ask … some of these look quite glittery … which doesn’t feel as natural in my mind … or is glitter good for blush?

I have quite a lot of pink tones in my skin so was told to use a peach colour instead. I used to have the Clinique peach blush, then the Nars orgasm and now I have the Hourglass one as a bit of luxury.

lentilly · 23/10/2022 21:16

That will be personal preference. I detest shimmer but a bit of glow is quite nice some days

As an alternative to Nars orgasm, which is the cult favourite, I have it in shade Deep Throat. I think this is less glittery. I've used mine every day for nearly two years and it's still going strong.

I LOVE blusher for it's ability to make me look not dead. I have loads but for you I would recommend this one which is the best of both worlds, not shimmery and easy to apply.

Colour wise if you're cool coloured (suit silver more than gold) then pink, if you're warm coloured peach/coral.

I have no idea if I’m cool coloured or warm coloured 😂 but definitely see the benefit in going and see an advisor. Useful thoughts on pink or peach tones Thankyou

Not shimmery and easy to apply are top of my list of what I’m after.

Glowy? Or matte?

Peach suits me much better.

Hourglass ambient blushes are really gorgeous and kind of foolproof as so diffused looking - but they’re v.pricey. You can get minis though (in Space Nk) - which will last a long time.

But agree that there are loads of good cheaper ones too - and it might be worth trying cheaper ones to get an idea of what tones/shades you like. Max Factor do some nice powder blushes I think - also E.L.F are v.good budget brand. Oh, and Bourjois is back in the UK now and their mini round blush pots are iconic!

Saw someone mention Benefit Dandelion (powder) - haven’t used that for years but I used to love it. It was really easy to use and natural looking. Think they might do minis of that in Boots too.

I love blusher - have a bit of an issue and need to stop buying them! I mostly use liquid and cream ones now (I love Rose Inc, Rare Beauty, Bobbi Brown, Daniel Sandler) but agree that powder probably easier for someone new to it. And yes - definitely try the lipstick thing too!

Nars Orgasm does NOT suit everyone, I've tried SIL's one and it didn't suit me at all.

Also, Glossier Cloudpaint (liquid) - it's nice, but it's so runny, why is it so runny?!
